I don't get this Skyboost installation. It says to just put 2 files in the Skyrim dir, but there are other folders and files in the download linked in OP. Can anyone help? I put those two files and went to the top of Dragonreach and I didn't seem to notice a difference.

Put SkyBoost.asi and dinput8.dll in the main Skyrim directory, where TESV.exe is located.

You can ignore the 'src' folder, since all that contains is the source code for other modders.

There needs to be a working no auto aim mod. Shit is pissing me off.

Can't snipe a moving target because it'll automatically track where they were and veer just slightly.

The no auto aim mod DOES NOT WORK. Changing skyrim.ini in any way, does not work.

I feel like none of the shader mods work for me :( Everytime I try and use one, it just makes the screen looks slightly darker, and doesn't have near the amount difference as the screenshots I see of it.

The ENB ones work for sure. They are more noticeable in the darker night and cave ones. In the daytime I haven't found any that look crazy different.

Does anyone have a problem with those cinematic kills in Skyrim?

When they happen its so loud.
Almost like they messed up the sound for those.

Adding

[Combat]
f1PArrowTiltUpAngle=0.0
f3PArrowTiltUpAngle=0.0

to Skyrim.ini worked for me. Arrows now always follow a parabola, rather than firing straight within a certain range like before. I haven't noticed any issues with aim assist since adding this to my ini. Though, I'm also using M/KB.

anyway to fix corrupted save ?
my friend save always get corrupted when he reaches a certain point in the last thieve guild quest.

Is it worth going with Skyboost if you're already on TESV Acceleration Layer?

And if so, what needs to be removed from the latter in order to run the former?

I'd like to know this as well.

Skyboost gives you even better performance than TESVAL. A lot better.

You should only use one or the other, just remove TESVAL file from skyrim/skse/plugins and put the two skyboost files in the main skyrim folder. You can also just use the normal game exe with skyboost, you dont need the skse launcher.

edit: VVVV oh right as he said its skyrim/data/skse/plugins

Yeah, people were posting pretty significant performance gains over TESVAL. You should just need to delete TESVAL.dll from <skyrim root>/Data/SKSE/Plugins.

I had trouble even getting things to work with ENB for some weird reason. If I just installed a mod for shaders that uses ENB through MO or NMM, would it still work? Or would I need to go through their manual install process?

No I understand about the arrow arc and reticule.

There is a horizontal aim assist that cannot be disabled. It is not a magnetic reticule or anything like it. It literally changes the initial direction of the arrow horizontally towards your target within a narrow area of the reticule. It makes it very very hard to lead distant targets or shoot body parts exposed around corner, or hit particular targets near or past other targets. It's not just the generous hit boxes either.

You probably won't notice it until you get steady hand 2 and eagle eye.

Weird. I have eagle eye but not steady aim, as I don't really feel the need for slow-mo. I haven't really had any issues hitting anyone, but it might be because I disabled the other aim assist so I typically aim above my target.

I'm looking to restart the game with a more immersive feel (that is, less hand-holding by the game):

- no using the in-game map
- minimal HUD with no place, enemy or quest markers
- hardest difficulty setting
- no fast travel

To help with this I've found these two cool immersion mods:

Immersive HUD - handles removing a bunch of hand-holding from the HUD.

"equipable" map which works very similarly to maps in Minecraft.

I can't really remember, did the Morrowind world map show your position?

Some shots I took not 1 hour ago.

That second shot is a bit of a spoiler to that side quest. It's a minor quest I know, but I had only just received it and didn't know about the stuff shown in the screen shot.

Can someone explain roughly what Skyboost is doing? And is there any danger that it can muck up your saves? (e.g. mucking up the scripting for a quest later on)

I've tried it on an old save but I'm fearful of loading up my current save... is it completely safe?

Still can't get 60fps in Whiterun... my test is to walk up to Dragonsreach and then turn around to face that damn tree in the middle of Whiterun... still nowhere near 60 :(

My mistake, I was trying to take a pic where it was blank and in between text. It's pretty minor minus the unique location. I'm gonna go at it again and try to take one that may has him saying hello or something lol Really cool side quest though :)

It's hard for me to say whether or not Skyboost is any faster than Tesval on my setup, but I will say that both are much faster than neither. I have a Tri-Crossfire 6950 setup and the game actually negatively scales at times with CF on.:(

So I guess I did it right then. I didn't have FRAPS on, but it certainly didn't feel like my fps got any better. Do I need anything else installed for this to work correctly?

edit: hmm, I guess most of Whiterun was pretty damn smooth, but I only really paid attention to how it felt when I got to the top of Dragonreach and looked down.

I have a problem with the Ebony Armour for females. I installed a mod for Ebony armour but didn't like it. I removed the meshes and textures but now, when I look at my female character the left arm is wrong, as if it's too far out from the body. Anyway I can fix this? I tried installing a different Ebony Armour mod but I still get it.

Does anybody know of a fix for the flickering mountains/z-fighting issue? I've had it since launch and have no idea how to get it to go away. 6950, 12.1 btw.

I have flickering textures on distant mountains too, on a 460 and a 560 Ti.

Also, has anyone figured out why the shadows change between two different resolutions, depending on the angle of the camera? For example, you can stare at a crisp tree shadow in front of you, and look 1 degree lower, where it suddenly changes to a much blurrier version.

Just tried SkyBoost R3, and wow! I visited a few of the spots where I've been having noticeable framerate issues, and got 5-10 fps more than usual. I'm still nowhere close to 60 fps when looking down at Whiterun from Dragonsreach (wouldn't expect to on this laptop, at least not without lowering some visual settings), but it sure is smoother!

Just to confirm I've installed Skyboost correctly - all I did was move the .dll and .asi files into the root Skyrim folder. I haven't got Script Dragon or anything like that installed.

EDIT: Also I've taken my attempts to increase immersion to the extreme. I've been using iHUD to basically completely disable the HUD, which made me rely on the map. But, after people pointed out in this thread that it's basically a GPS that eliminates all danger of being lost, I'm trying to play without consulting the map at all, and going just off my limited knowledge of the broad geography of Skyrim, road signs, and a little bit of luck. I'd love to install that 'viewable map' mod but apparently it causes some problems, so I'll hold off for now.

Thanks colonialraptor for t he updated post, that was exactly what I was looking!!
And holy fuck there's another skyboost? If this keep going, I might run this game 60FPS locked all the time! :D

Alexios

Cores, shaders and BIOS oh my!
I got what I thought is the latest SkyUI and SKSE but SkyUI nags about not having the needed SKSE version? But it appears to work fine..?

cant wait for that guy to release his enb settings :p praise pc gaming :''D Link

Yep... Skyboost is the way to go.

And yep... I'm still waiting for someone to release an ENB setup that gives some really good realistic looking settings like those pics you showed Iztli.

All my game really needs now is better AA and I'll be at the absolutely sweet spot, but I'm still asking for better AA here... and it's Skyrim.

The AA in that image is what makes it looks so amazing, it's not too blurry not too sharp.

Skyboost seems like it's no longer working for me. :(

I did some uninstalling and reinstalling after having trouble with ugrids stuff and my logo turning red and saves not loading. Eventually I got everything working again, but it seems like I can't get my fps to increase at all. I've tried Skyboos r3, r2, and even tried tesval after those didn't work. I don't get a single gain in FPS when before, I was getting close to 50 or 60 at some points in Whiterun.

What gives? I've tried it through NMM, MO, and even manually installing it. None of those changed anything.

My settings look very similar to these except for the trees and more colorful (I love blue shadows). What I want to see is a screenshot of the inventory items or while reading a book. ENB applies differently to the menu renders and my current settings make them an oversaturated shit.

I just downloaded and installed Yadda's ENB config

I like it quite a bit, doesn't oversaturate but makes the lighting a lot nicer and more realistic.

It still has a tendency to make everything a little blurrier, anyone know how to reduce this?

I can't wait for the 7970's to arrive in stores... so so so eager, I'm sick of trifire, I just realised today that Skyrim is only using my 6990 and not even touching my 6970.
