This is not going well.

We should start posting pictures of cats again.

Not creepy ones either.
My cat refuses to stay still whenever I try to take a picture:

I definitely have changed my posting habits since the avatar change. It's an interesting social dynamic now that others can actually see our faces. The atmosphere in this thread, for example, is completely unique. We're actually behaving like normal people here rather than 'Internet personas'.

Cool st--

Interesting point your have there Meus.

Are you sure it was a calico?

Absolutely positive, that's why this is worth discussing. The trick isn't "I didn't see one, I'm just dumb!"

At the pet shop? Too obvious.

We're gonna need a hint!

As per wikipedia: because genetic determination of some coat colors in cats is linked to the sex chromosome, calicoes are always female.

Hint: genetic quirk

Interesting story: I saw a male calico cat today. If anyone can figure out how, I will give them a gold star. The answer is fascinating.

They have an extra sex chromosome. It's not common at all, but it has been seen in a few instances......

EDIT: Working in the vet industry teaches you a few things :P

I used to want to be a vet...until I figured out that I would have to operate on animals and what not.

Technically true in this case, but this young tom took it even further. This cat was a chimera, which means that he was essentially two genetically distinct cats inside a single body (or put differently, he was a cat with two entirely separate sets of fully formed DNA).

I think we are missing the point, perhaps it's how he saw the cat that was interesting not the fact that a male existed in the first place.

that was actually worth waiting to hear, very cool.
