silliness

;P

Out of curiosity and laziness, what the fuck is going on in here?

We're all composing tellurian-themed haikus. You should totally join us.

How's China? I thought about going there, but I decided I didn't want to live in Asia again for awhile (bad company experience even if living there is nice.) My best friend worked in Korea for three years, and she had a terrible experience. I swear she must have worked for the worst company in the world. It's only through her stubbornness and resistance to change that she stayed on for so long.

China was... Hmm... I taught there twice for 1 month stretches at a time. First time was amazing and really fun. Great location, supportive school, all-around good experience. 2nd time was horrific on absurd levels. The school was located in an industrial town with no supplies, I taught in a concrete box with no windows (had student passing out left and right), and we were not allowed to leave the 'compound'. The living quarters were full of rats and lice (I had to cut quite a bit of my hair off) and eventually some kind of nasty illness went around that shut down the whole school. It was a total scam. First time was fun, though! :D

I lived with my brother for a while when he was doing JET in Aomori.

His students would see me around town reading manga and report back to him that I act like a kid.

I taught in Yamaguchi on JET as well, but I've been dying to go to Aomori. Soooo beautiful in pictures.

I'll stop by to say hello this year.

edit: I pride myself in keeping a low profile but I imagine this thread may be the end of me ;-)

I can't be secret with mine, but it goes against my nature anyway. Would be fun to have a meet up. Assuming we even have a booth (haven't had one 2 years running), but we do go and check out the scene. The after-parties are always KEY. I know all the good spots in Downtown LA. ^_-

Circle-jerking? I'm in for some soggy biscuit. If thats the case i'm 17 in my pic so I took one to highlight my 21-ness.

Since i'm rocking the old iphone 3G welcome to myspace poses.

This also occurred in the process:

Yeah we will def work that out, sounds like fun - always nice to meet some new faces in the game development / publishing community.

This thread, along with penis-size-age and height-age makes me feel like I'm being profiled.

Evilore, who are you selling my details to and how much am I worth?

So who else is pumped to get this shitty year over with?

My years been pretty good on the whole, but still pumped for 2012. I'm always up for drinking Pina Colada and wondering if this will be the year the Dick Clark dies on live TV.

Neo-GAF is actually the way that the Machines find Sarah Connor and kill her. EviLore is from the future.

It's actually pretty amazing. I think the point where it got "real" for me is when I went out one night to grab some dinner from the convenience store and there was a snow monkey just kind of hanging out on the sidewalk.

We ended up moving to Yokohama a little while later because my brother's AAA international license expired and he couldn't pass the driver's test there, but Tokyo is just way too busy for me. There was a day where it felt so claustrophobic that I went to the Starbucks that looked over Scramble Crossing and just stayed there for like four hours.

I know that feel. It's so weird seeing faces instead of random video game characters.
Tinychat GAF and the post your pic thread kind of demystified a bit of it, but seeing some of the more prolific posters for the first time still throws me for a loop. Imagining you guys sitting there posting shit on GAF at all hours of day is hard to picture

I'm with you. 2011 has been pretty awful. Here's hoping for a better 2012 (or at least until the Mayan calender runs out).

shit, found out already.

I'm in the south bay.

So if you see a dude with a gaf shirt, that's probably me.

And if you see a booted girl with a laptop strapped to her back peddling like a hamster on a kid's dirt bike, that's me. :P

Cool. Sounds like a plan. ^_^ Looking forward to swapping industry horror stories.

Now that I think about it, I wonder how many people here I have seen at E3 and never realized it.

There's a decent chance a lot of us have been within 10-20 feet of each other.

It's a bit of a shock to see some people whose pics I haven't seen yet completely destroy my expectations. This was a great idea.

There's a decent chance a some of us are within 10-20 feet of each other RIGHT NOW.

*paranoia*

I'd rather not know generally. I can't imagine my first meeting with someone from GAF would go any other way than awkward. Although, being Scottish and al theres more than likely a very smalllll chance of me being anywhere near other GAF'ers at all never mind 10-20 feet.

I dunno. We're all just people, in fact, I'd argue that meeting a GAFfer wouldn't be as awkward since you have the benefit of having a few things in common right off the bat.

Undoubtedly I've stood in line with at least one unknown GAF member from all the E3s over the years. Probably GDC lectures as well.

Thing is, old industry lurking habits are hard to break.

You guys know nothing of what it means to be creepy! Behold - MovemberIrish:

(kinda glad I didn't even bother with it this year, to be honest)

Wow, I was wondering why everyone suddenly had attractive people as their avatars. I love the idea of this thread but I don't think anyone would take me as seriously without nail polish. D:

On that note, I'm so jealous of Girl GAF right now.

Tellurian theme?
Haiku is hard enough, and
it takes me too long.

:(

Not sure if even correct.

/fail.
There you go!

I'm perfectly fine if this thread derails into a Phoenix Wright role play thread.

Anyone who's skeptical should go to a Gaf meetup. I guarantee you a damn good time.

So lucky! Every time I went to an outdoors onsen I hoped and hoped that snow monkey might climb in an try and steal my sake cup. Alas, that dream has yet to be fulfilled.

No fail! You got it!
For all things earth-related
Just read neogaf!

Kitchenmotors may already had call dibs on him.

I can see we'll have to settle it the industry way, then... through JENGA.

Yup, yup. I'd figure it would less awkward too. I've met a lot of people on here that I think it would be fun to hang with in real life.

I stood behind two guys in the line for starbucks at E3 that were talking about neogaf. I confess I eavesdropped my little heart out. Sadly no secrets were revealed, though. :(

My avatar's actually from the summer. Only difference now is that I haven't shaved in like a month so I've got a really bad teen beard.

Edit: I'm not quite sure why I posted this, lol. I guess I felt like sharing? I'm clearly going crazy...

The LA gaf[ter] party wasn't that awkward.

And I want to work in the industry.

Hire me!

I really wish I'd caught the live stream for that!

And I should probably append my previous statement to: I don't think meeting a GAFfer would be awkward at all, til Kccitystar steals your fucking face and wears it, that damn coca cola shirt wearing bitch.
