All this DMC talk about his potential and skills is getting annoying. Let the guy have half a good season or at least 20 consecutive games where he's playing really well before we start harping on potential.

And lest anyone brings up Bynum...no one in LA (besides Jim Buss) thought Bynum was good beforeBynum was actually good. Dude was getting benched in favor of Kwame and no one in LA was complaining because we knew he was ass.

Once DMC can put together a solid 20-25 games I'll start to give him some credit, he hasn't come close to turning the corner yet!

DMC is no Bargnani. People who've seen a solid 5 games from him know what the deal is in the same way that they know what rubio is capable of.

Im going to institute a no great smile rule for the wolves. Brewer, Flynn, Wes - all had great smiles - all sucked real bad

Clearly nice guys finish last, and suck while doing it

Wolves are going to have to let go of Kahn then since that's his drafting criteria.

What? Rubio can get 6 points and 6 assists and your confident he was much better than those numbers and controlled the game. He's better than his stats.

DMC is 13 and 10 which is already below what he should be doing AND on top of all that, he is a net negative on the floor half the time. Makes boneheaded plays, is lax on defense. Rubio and DMC are the exact OPPOSITE player.

DMC is a lot more like Tyreke than he is Rubio.

lol.

Cousins' potential is overrated because he can't jump and because a lot of his moves that make him look super skilled don't really work at all and will probably never work. Still, he dominated college and has a good deal of lowpost and rebounding skill and strong court vision which probably could get him to the level of Memphis Z-bo if he works hard. And he has the best standing reach in the NBA other than JaVale McGee. Not saying he's good right now though.

Have you seen him play? Just curious.

Watched 3 of his games so far. People are confusing "entertaining" with "skill", in the same way that led people to proclaim Blake Griffin the 2nd best Power Forward in the league during month 1.

The kid's talented, but seeing someone claim he's a top 5 pg NOW makes me feel all kinds of fuckno.

Wow. Rubio, overrated before he's played 5 games. I'm speechless.

LoL

The problem i have with assesing how good he can peak at, in terms of efficiency is, he's not used efficiently in SAC at all. Like, it's stupid how poor they are at using him. They're worse than orlando. At least orlando have an offense that designed to use the low post, the kings just seem to see it "as that place i drive past".

He's no J-Will. He runs P&R like few others. That's skill, not just entertaining. His no look passes always have a point...

When's the last time we saw someone come off the bench and average over 7 assists per game in his first few games? He's just 21.

But outside of one year at Kentucky, Cousins is playing in Sacramento exactly like how he's played in his entire life. He thinks he's a shooting guard.

I like Cousins at PF. I don't think he's mentally tough enough to be expected to do all the grown man work that is expected of a C and I think he'd see large gains in his finishing and efficiency at the position.

I don't know if his potential is overrated or not. It seems everyone agrees that his potential is a 20/10 guy on decent but not great efficiency.

Everyone also agrees that with his athleticism he will have trouble finishing over bigger guys and that he will not be an elite shot blocker.

What we know from his career so far is that he is a dominant rebounder and that no one can keep him out of the paint, he is quick enough to get past bigger guys and strong enough to back down smaller guys easily. I think his efficiency can be made decent fairly easily, all he really needs to be decently efficient is start hitting his shots at the rim at the rate he hit them last year(62.4%) and stop shooting 16+ ft jumpers completely. This is without even improving his post moves or his finishing inside. All he has to do is return to last years levels near the rim and stop taking the shitty long 2s, and he's instantly a decently efficient big man.

This is enough to justify the number 5 pick in today's NBA. It may seem like saying he has the potential to be one of the top big men in the league is overrating his potential, but really it just says more about how absolutely terrible the big men are these days.

Five guards, I think. Paul, Kobe, and Nash are locks. Westbrook is trash, but probably will get in. So that leaves one spot for Ellis, Curry, Gordon, Lowry, etc.

Why are you listing him coming off the bench and being a 21 year old rookie as if those things are positives?

Considering Nash didn't make it last year because of YNB (wtf coaches), he's unfortunately not a lock anymore.

Lowry is great, but Manu is still a lot better.

Outside of the one year of Kentucky did you see him play?

Yes, he was super soft and hung out on the perimeter in high school. He wasn't even projected as a first-round pick coming out of high school by some draft sites either.

Top 5 is a stretch. You're right. But he's easily top 8 in terms of his ability to make guys around him better and run the offense from the PG position.

Guys like Wstbrook aren't better PG's - but they are better players at the PG position.

Dude can get to 10 assists a game as a rookie playing 35 minutes a game. He plays 28, with a bunch of bench players often, gets 7 apg, and doesnt break a sweat.

I literally haven't seen him sweat all year - it's remarkable

Nash isn't making the All Star team. And whilst lowry has been playing well, and the rockets actually look like a functional NBA team this year (i kid you not ,they look better than i thought they would), i sitll don't think he's going to get anywhere near the allstar team unless he goes on some insane run, or the rockets do. He'd have to have 15 20/10 games in a row, his name isn't really out there.

You've still got manu and TP, YNB, Kobe, Martin (who is a better chance than lowry, disgustingly), CP3, Ellis, Curry, tyreke, jason kid, jason terry, rubio.

JET may get in just because of the finals last year.

Holy shit.

Manu is averaging 19.8PPG, 4.3RPG, 3.3APG on 60FG% in 25.8MPG?

He's shooting 60/54/93??

*mindblown*

Yeah, ridiculous. I think he started last year similarly.

LOL Shaq on Baby. Dead on. AKA the Fat wannabe Mamba

“On the West Coast swing in January, Shaq wanted to get off against the Lakers, but he said even though he was getting good position under the basket, Glen Davis wouldn’t pass him the ball. ‘Big Baby’ Davis kept looking me off and taking it himself. Doc is shouting at him to go inside, but he won’t. So Doc calls timeout and draws up a play for me. I go out there, and I back Andrew Bynum way under the rim. I’m loose, I’m ready. I’ve got Bynum under the basket and again, Baby won’t give me the ball. So I go up to him and say, ‘If you ever miss me again I’m going to punch you in the face.’ I was hot. Two nights later we’re playing in Sacramento and here we go again. I take three shots the entire game and again I’ve got my man isolated underneath the basket, and Baby ignores me and takes a jump shot. So the next time we’re in the huddle I let Baby have it. I tell him, ‘Pass the [expletive] ball inside.’ He [comes] back at me a little bit and now I’m really heated. All hell is breaking loose. We’re going back and forth. Doc is standing there and he’s not saying a word. The message is pretty clear: work this out yourselves. I tell Baby, ‘You’re a selfish player. Everyone on this team knows it.’ Hey, all the fans knew it. He takes shots when he shouldn’t’

Okay... you see how said "better than his stats" after only a couple of games and limited situations?

Yeah, that was the entire point. No paragraph necessary.
