Cousins has nearly every skill. He just has to refine. He passes, shoots, has post moves, good handles for a big man, rebounds like a beast and is improving his defense. He needs to learn where to finish strong and where to use each tool. His conditioning was a question, but he worked pretty hard on that over the lockout.

Guys like Gasol and Bynum are far more limited in comparison.

If Cousins was making his gimmes at the rim, he'd be posting 20/10 numbers. I don't doubt he can learn how to better finish.

We'll take Cousins off your hands if you take RJ's contract off ours.

Plus, think of the hilarious GIF potential with Cousins on a Popovich/Duncan team

Jefferson was amnestied...

EDIT: Wait, he wasn't? Wtf Spurs?

Pretty much every center in the league is clearly ahead of him right now, but I don't see why he couldn't pass all of those guys other than Dwight in two or three years if he reached his potential.

You could say that about every fringe player ever in the history of basketball. James White, Gerald Green, Lavor Postell, Felipe Lopez, Greg Oden, LeBron James...the list is endless.

Continuing on the Kings being spiteful about the thing, they removed Cousins face from images on their website.

You notice that game tickets banner?

Regardless of Cousins whining, this is some Dan Gilbert level shit from the Kings.

lmfao

I honestly believe our organization is acting even more childish and immature about this shit than DeMarcus.

Jeez, so embarrassing. None of this will end well. At all.

Popovich giving Rubio some Popoprops

“He’s doing exactly what Manu Ginobili did when he came (to the Spurs),” he said. “Ricky’s a veteran, he’s a pro. He’s been in big games, he’s been in tough games, he’s played against good players. He’s not going to be awed by this NBA stuff at all. He’s going to come in and play, as we’ve seen.”

“It’s basketball,” Popovich said. “We all run pick an droll. John (Stockton) and Karl (Malone) ran pick and roll the same way for a jillion years. It’s pretty simple. It depends on who’s doing it and (Rubio) is very good at it, so there’s no sense making something complicated if somebody’s great at doing something simple.”

Dennis Rodman is finally getting into coaching. Not at a small college, as an assistant or even at the high school level.

He's going to the topless level. Or actually, creating it. Via the NY Post:

Dennis Rodman is bouncing back into basketball — this time as a coach for a topless women’s team he’s launching for Headquarters Gentlemen’s Club, the New York mammary mecca.

The NBA bad boy dreamed up the team after hearing that rival strip joint Rick’s Cabaret had launched a league with former Atlanta Hawk Spud Webb, who runs the Texas Legends, an NBA Development League team. Rodman is even challenging Rick’s Cabaret’s topless team to a charity game.

“I don’t know too many men that don’t like a good-looking woman running up and down around the court,” Rodman told Page Six.

I don't know, that depends on what kind of offense they're running. Are we talking Seven Seconds or Less or walk-it-up style?

Rodman said he's been a customer at Headquarters for more than 30 years (shocker) and is currently scouting for "talent." I don't know if that means actual basketball ability or not.

“You don’t have to have too much experience, just know how to throw the ball into the hole,” Rodman told the paper. “They’ll come out in a T-shirt or a tank top, but when the game starts, they’ll go topless."

So let it be known I guess: The WNBA now has competition.

Um.

I wouldn't want Cousins anywhere near my team. The guy is a locker room cancer. The first major losing streak your team has, he's going to bitch about losing. Or if he's not getting enough touches. Or if the offense doesn't run through him. It goes on and on.

Hakim Warrick is the leading scorer for the Suns so far this season??

Is this life?

More importantly can you imagine a Tyreke + Thornton + Jimmer + Cole backcourt rotation?

Would anyone else ever get a shot?

Jimmer has actually surprised me with how subdued he is in regard to jacking up shots. His shot selection has usually been pretty good.

As for Cousins and Salmons? :(

People forget so quickly. You have DMC saying that they have no direction on O, and that they get very little input from their coach, and that he's being ignored when asking for more direction and structure.... like thats a bad thing? Westphal has been so utterly terrible for that team. He stays because i think every time the maloofs make a move to save $, he basically gives them a reach around" great move!". The teams god damn horribly run, i'd want out too.

When LBJ tried to get his coach fired for being too strict, everyone got on his nuts about being uncoachable. Here you have a young center asking for coaching and frustrated enough by it to want out, and saying he's a head case?

I'd trade for DMC. Yeah, he's not the most mature person in the league, but at least the guy seems to give a dam about winning and getting better. If he can last, he'll be a top 3 C soon enough.

Add in that he doesn't seem to get injured a lot, which is a HUGE + for any 7 footer in this league.

I'm kind of addicted to watching Rubio's fourth quarters. He's insanely good for someone that's so limited in his offensive repertoire and in his experience.

The whole situation is being managed in the worst way possible. I don't think I've ever seen this kind of incompetence from an organization in dealing with an unhappy player. Many people will side with the staff and the front office, however, simply because of the fact that DMC is still a fucking baby and doesn't know how to control his emotions. Behaving more like an adult and expressing his frustration in a more mature manner would go a long way for him.

Next up! Another look at the NBA Twin Index!

Marcus Morris

-4.32 PER @ 5.7 MPG

Markieff Morris

22.16 PER @ 17 MPG

Did the Suns actually draft the right twin here?

I find these statements odd.

He's been playing in pro-leagues for 7 years? he's got a fair bit of experience already.

Yes, Markieef is best Morris.

“He’s selfish,” one source close to the team said of Cousins. “He’s always angry or clowning. He needs to change. The Kings have been great about covering things up for him, and his agent has been protecting him.

“He’s always miserable. He acts like he’s entitled.”

Some players are disillusioned with the constant drain of Cousins’ tantrums, sulking and absence of professionalism. “He’s a bully, and they let him get away with it,” one source said. “No one wants to deal with the guy.”
