The funny thing is that PMs gives that outlet for us to comment on pictures, leaving the thread alone for proper conversations. I certainly don't see it wrong to PM somebody and saying he or she's cute or hot or whatever. It's knowing when to stop. I agree that this thread is most enjoyable when everyone is civil. However, I'm sure I'm not the only one waiting for the imminent meltdown. Really all it takes is one gaffer to ruin the fun. My popcorn will be ready for that moment.

That was the show me and my friends watched religiously. We even joked during the first episode that the girls were "drafting" (a Magic the Gathering term for those going "huh?") all the geeks.

Of course, like most reality shows, it got worse during the second season.

I wish but no, there is a lot of misconceptions, assumptions and general dumbfuckery I have to plow through when it comes to talking about my gender's issues. It doesn't help that there is a lot of patronizing, willfully ignorant, refusal to look at shit from our perspective nonsense that goes on. It's been getting better I'll admit but that rape thread just brought up a lot of ugliness, and getting cross harassed in TC was no fun either. I've gotten threats in TC (months back) and on the non-gaf forums that follow GAF I've seen unflattering mocking cartoons and other various demeaning bullshit towards me. If I was smarter or meek I would have stopped posting a long time ago but then those fucks would win in silencing yet another vocal female. So fuck that.

Very well said. As more joined, the more mature the thread has gotten. People are talking about all sorts of topics without any tension. Usually, a thread of this magnitude would get shutdown by now, because of someone wanted to stir shit up. if someone like that shows up, I'm pretty sure everyone here would ignored that individual altogether. Did not expect this thread to turn into "Real Talk" GAF.

It's what I keep coming back for. It's gotten so close a few times. I have enjoyed it when we have had proper conversations and have even met some genuinely great people as a result of this very thread.

edit: Jason head to TC, I heard they need you in there.

Yeah, it's been a lot better than I thought it'd be! I actually feel more comfortable posting here than in most threads oddly enough. And the PMs aren't so much creepy as... awkward and kind of like: why do you feel the need to send this? Then again I never understood catcalling either so...

The second season was bad, but the third season was so awful that it was cancelled altogether. They included a female geek and a male beauty, and that's all I remember of it.

How 'bout Temptation Island? That was a bad, bad show. But I'll be damned if I wasn't tuning back into it every week. I think I was more into it than my wife was :(

I try to avoid them but most of the time I can't help but stick my nose in it. I do believe the only thing that has saved me is that the posters I mock are just a bit worse at posting than me. So I fly under the bad post radar.

I can't last long like this. Time to join Pony-GAF I think, I'll be safe there talking about how much my son likes it.

I think the most awkward thing I've said to someone of the opposite gender was, when they came down in an evening gown, I whistled and said "Damn, you could make a good dog go off his leash."

Except I flubbed the whistle so it sounded like I went "Pfft, you could make a good dog go off his---shit!"

The "shit" was when I realized I messed it up from the getgo.

I feel that a large portion if the problem is that men are so vastly in the majority; I don't feel that's a male-specific problem, either. The tyranny of the majority is a real phenomenon and needs specific regulations to keep in check. If women comprised half of GAF (not likely any time soon, I admit), some of the things many members say in a male dominated forum would go unsaid in an equally shared one.

Why don't we have an official thread after this month (or whatever) about real life-gaf? Kinda like the tiny chat video casting but on the forums, some nice real life talk about whatever.

I'd like this to keep going is basically what i'm trying to say.

I feel it's also an interest demographic problem, as much as I love video games, the stuff the industry tends to shill us doesn't help garner respect for my gender.

Completely unrelated to anything going on here: Is there a way to skip cut-scenes in MOrtal Kombat's Story mode? I'm continuing and I've got to sit through this long ass cut-scene I've seen before. I've tried everything and it's not skipping :(
