So... let's talk about us then! :P! An issue or something

The main issue in my life is that I start things up, all pumped up, and slowly forget about them. HAPPENS ALLLL THE TIME. I can barely finish things I start. Out of, say, 10 projects I begin, 1 comes out and maybe not as intended. Maybe 1 out of 50 does work out nicely but its such a horrible problem. I cannot concentrate on one thing for a long time or I just lose all interest in it. Damn, pisses me off to no end. Trust me I've tried but... damn =/

I hear ya.

I've written about 4000 short stories but can seem bump it up to the next level. I tried to do NaNoWriMo but November was not the month for that.

At least I finish projects at work, or I'd be in a world of hurt.

Ah that's another thing. I love writing. I have so many stories that I feel would be good, but my writing style has been stuck for years now and going nowhere. So frustrating too.

You should ask in the fitness thread. http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=431741

But wraps are primarily to keep the joint warm and reduce injury that way. It won't stop you from overworking it. Avoid injury by good form, not lifting heavier than you can with good form, and not doing insane reps.

It was probably doing too many reps and my form might have been bad. On the leg press at my community college I was comfortably doing 300 lbs. I managed to get up to that on the new machine at my gym but that machine was far more awkward to use.

Sad, because I was making such awesome gains that I actually got stretch marks.

Nice, you should hit up the fitness thread for tips and inspiration. You will probably be told not to use machines though, if you're able to squat with a barbell. Machines don't allow natural range of motion and can create muscle imbalances since they often isolate large muscles and don't work the stabilizing muscles.

What were your sets/reps on the leg press?

Wtf is going on in there. Why is Domo-kun dancing.

Beef, your avatar always makes me realize how much I miss the first few seasons of Digimon. I loved almost every single Digimon from Season 1 :P I even had a Digimon Tomagotchi.

I miss them too, and I also had a Digimon tomagotchi! One of my friends poked fun at me because it wasn't a tomagotchi and called it a "tomagotcho."

One of the few good memories I have from middle school. *sigh*

This sounds like cheating, but I was really able to change up my writing style by forcing myself to write in different narration styles. Started with really short stories (3-4 pages) then kicked it up to longer ones.

Helped quite a bit and gave me a LARGE range of voices to write in for difference characters.

We could just make a regular Gaf-chat thread. Although, part of the beauty of this one is seeing who you're talking to. Still, I just really hate chat.

It's tough enough just having my picture next to all my posts, imagining being on video / voice chat creeps me out for some reason.

I know that machines are not the ideal but I find them so easy. I'm afraid that I won't be able to keep the right form on my own. I looked into the fitness thread a few times but it's so intimidating.

I was doing sets of 8 at 300 lbs. I would then switch to using the machine for heel raises at that same weight. I would go until I felt nicely sore. I've a got a thing for big legs and was mostly focusing on bulking up.

This is the main reason I refuse to do it. I had a pushy boyfriend once that demanded I video chat with him. Not only do I hate to watch myself but listening to myself is fucking horrible.

Why is my voice so horrible? It sounds good in my head. And then I recorded it and listened to it. ;_;

In Japan they said that foreigners smelled bad. It was speculated that it might be due to the excess of meat and dairy. Likewise I heard from foreigners that the Japanese smelled like fish/soybeans. :/ Honestly most people there (foreigner or Japanese) just smelled clean or normal.

I taught at a Junior High in Japan for a couple years and let me tell you, when 30 kids wearing long-sleeved uniforms were jammed into a classroom with no air-conditioning in early summer they got to be a LIT-TLE BIT RIPE.

To chime in on some other discussions:

-Dark Chocolate > Milk
-Best snack = Cheez-Its

So, I'm several pages late on some of this, but it's too important not to state.

Cheez-its and Goldfish are two of the most disgusting junk food items ever created. Only Bugles compare in shitiness.

Go team dark chocolate.

Broccoli is god tier, as are mushrooms and brown rice.

That is all.

So everyone hates my voice? How is that better?!

Wait, what I meant was.....nevermind.

So basically, you love real food, and don't like manufactured shit. You are a man after my own heart.

Cheez-Its are great but there was this one thing I remember called better cheddars that were the best cheddar flavored cracker.

Oh fuck you! I love bugles. I can and have eaten an entire bag in one sitting. They're that good.

They're really not, but it's cool. Nothing wrong with being objectively wrong.

Ya, it can be intimidating, but the regulars want to help people and for the most part give a lot of good information, if you can get past the testosterone. Mostly people will rag on you if you ask things that are covered in the OP, although if you ask for clarification of things in the OP, people will generally go over them.

The sitting position in general puts your lower back in a bad position and is better to be avoided, especially since most of us sit most of the time already. Sitting stretches your glutes and keeps your hip flexors tight, weakening both. Probably worse on your knees as well, especially if you are going heavy.

The recommended beginning programs always start with just the bar (45 lbs) so you learn the form and get it ingrained into your muscle memory before you go heavy.

But anyway good squats should help your knee by strengthening the muscles that stabilize the joint. Going partial way (and often on leg presses where your legs hit the hips preventing full range) putting the emphasis on the quads can worsen the joint. The knee can has a lot of muscles pulling on it in different directions and they need to be kept balanced with each other.

Sorry, I go on and on.
