Real Pic January!

Watch out, though. I taught a lot of adult English classes on the side and there were attractive Japanese women 25-35 that were in there SOLELY to learn English to get a foreign man and have a hafu-baby. I shit you not.

I'm 6'2'' and I get stared at constantly when I'm in Japan/China (China is business for me). Not in a good way.

Tags are not something I suggest people specifically seek out. It almost always ends badly.

It was time to get rid of my xmas avatar anyway and speaking of Japan, that's where this pic was taken.

Print out and affix to dartboard...

Haha, really? I think that one story was the only time I heard of anything like it (and my ex certainly wasn't the type to talk about babies. He was the "too cool for everything" type. Yikes.) Well, I guess I did hear a lot of people gushing over how adorable half babies are. I guess it's something different/interesting. But then I hear all these terrible things about how half children are treated in school :< Maybe it has changed in recent years...

On tags: I hope I never get one. It feels too much like getting a brand of shame. Even if it is amusing.

On some levels it is, others it isn't.

RahXephon has the "I have bad taste" tag which has been quoted enough times as an attempt to devalue his opinion.
Poor Dragona...
Her!?

I don't seek them, I just get sad that they were easier to get before and I've probably said many things that were once tagworthy, but I understand why they are harder to get now.

Maybe the person who gave it to you was sad that you're content with that.

I always thought it arose as a result of your Snow avatar.

Mine was for this: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=22082715&postcount=72

In hindsight I wish I wrote "motherfucker" properly, but I wanted to add some style to it.

It does, but to your credit I think it fits quite well.

I've always liked your tag. It's a declaration of war, and a good one at that.

Nope. Hasn't changed at all. :/ They flirt with the idea, say it's cool and celebrate the few hafu-stars on TV, but for the kids it's hell. I taught in Iwakuni my last year (2007) and there's a marine base there. You can't even imagine how many half kids there were, and all were super shy/picked on. Made me angry.

I think he relishes it a little.

He seems to like to express his opinions really bluntly so he can see who quotes his tag.

Thanks for the tips, although I'm not so worried about all that race stuff or even hooking up, really.

I am starting my first Japanese class this semester. Hopefully, I won't sound completely clueless or be too much of a burden on my pals.

My team is aiming to show a film at the Yubari Film Festival and we are exploring shooting a feature over there as a co-production with some of our local colleagues.

to be honest, I learned all the Japanese I know while living in Japan. If I can converse with people and get things done, anyone can.

They've always been pretty hard to get. Seems like there was a brief surge a couple years ago in the OT which was quickly snuffed out.

I'm in, check the ketchup.

Man, I hate to keep reiterating it, but maybe it's just something that blows my mind more than other people.

I OWN A COMPANY

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAH

I AM IN HEAVEN RIGHT NOW

Literal...?

Yep.

What happened was I started dating this Korean girl in August 08. I wasn't expecting things to get too serious, but by November she was already wanting to talk about getting married and moving back to the U.S.

Where we have a one year anniversary, they have 100 days. It's a big deal. I didn't even realize it was coming up, but apparently it was. Realizing I was getting in over my head, I tried to end things amicably.

That didn't work at all, and she started talking about killing herself. Then a few days later she claimed to have gotten a positive result on a pregnancy test. Now I was really freaked out. Later she brought in some kind of medical report from a doctor, and a Korean friend looked it over and said it was an ultrasound report, but other people thought it might be fake. The timing was suspicious, and there were some discrepancies that I won't get into. Anyway, I ended up giving her about $600 USD for an abortion, which she may or may not have actually had. At some point I had promised her that if she had an abortion, I would take care of her, so she held me to that, and she moved into my apartment for about a week. She probably thought she could win me back over during that time, but I wasn't having it.

At the end of the week she moved all her stuff out and also took my rabbit. That was lame.

I never really thought of it that way, from what I've seen it has allowed him to have more opportunities to expand and elaborate on his opinions.

What is your new company about?

I can't tell too much about it, but it's essentially bestowing my knowledge (and the knowledge of my business partner) upon the masses.

I taught in the boondocks (Yamaguchi-ken), so any foreigner there was treated like a super star (or stalked), but in mid-sized kens or major cities I did see a lot of the 'look' going around. As a girl I often felt that my experience was, unfairly, much more pleasant than the boys', but I'm not exactly threatening-looking to anyone. Many assumed I was half anyway, and therefore moderately 'acceptable'.

I didn't think it had. I was friends with a few kids in high school/college who were half and grew up partly in Japan, but they got so much shit their parents either relocated to the US or sent them to live with their grandparents. I can't blame them, I wouldn't want to put my children through that.

Yeah, when my brother and I moved to Aomori, the second day we were there, the mayor showed up at our apartment and invited us to a dinner.

And then there was a newspaper article about us later that week.

It was really surreal.

Interesting to hear a few of you have lived/taught in Japan as well!

I was over there for 5 years (2005-2010) myself.
I did the JET Programme for the first 3 years and then moved to Osaka and did a bunch of part-time gigs, primarily for GEOS GCI (they apparently went out of business a week after I left the country!) and a study/work abroad agency called Last Resort.

I have experience living in the middle-of-nowhere countryside and right in the heart of the city over there so if anybody has random questions about Japan fire away.

Speaking of Japan, check out who I met in a bar over there:

Haha. You guys got the 'sticks treatment' too? :) I was on TV a couple of times, and they'd put me in the newspaper for the littlest things (I believe that was more to promote English, though). But, in the end I don't think I looked exotic enough for them. Inevitably I'd always get asked by my elementary school kids on the first day, "Why aren't your eyes blue?"

It's okay, I don't mind being the only person who likes Snow. People are entitled to their wrong opinions :p

I admit, seeing your real pic after seeing you as Snow for so long was surprising.

But anyway, goddamn I hate Snow! Sorry. He keeps punching his hand. Over and over. Endless punching loop. Then he's all hero hero hero protect protect protect. And his smug face. AHHH!

*breath*

I'm okay now.

My life has been consumed with this project for the last two years:

KTbkg.jpg

Family bought this house for $450k.

Been rehabbing it for about $300k.

Sold it for $1.3 million.

Not the best return BUT I AM SO GLAD TO BE RID OF IT. At one point my girlfriend and I were living in it because I'd have to be there at all hours to monitor the various crews.

SHIT! I just realized: does my avatar look like I'm lighting up a bowl?
Its meant to be a pipe! A pipe in front of a bunch of fancy looking books!

Oh shit, you did GEOS GCI in osaka? I lived in Osaka working for GEOS from 06 to 09.

...So any positions available?

Sadly, zero. We are trying to keep it at two people for as long as we can handle it.

That whole thing only cost $450k? That is awesome.

Well I guess it was $750k total, which doesn't seem as mind blowing. Still seems like a nice bit of cash you made, though.

So...you're Tom Hanks?

I never thought so. I always thought you were going for a classy Sherlock Holmes look.

But then I'm not into drugs and I love Sherlock Holmes...

One of my brother's middle school kids asked me why I wasn't fat and tall like most Americans.

She argued with me for a while about it.

In my country, you'll get rape by the ladies just for having a Yankees fitted and clothing on, lol. God bless my 3rd World Country...
