I've always liked your tag. It's a declaration of war, and a good one at that.
Nope. Hasn't changed at all. :/ They flirt with the idea, say it's cool and celebrate the few hafu-stars on TV, but for the kids it's hell. I taught in Iwakuni my last year (2007) and there's a marine base there. You can't even imagine how many half kids there were, and all were super shy/picked on. Made me angry.

What happened was I started dating this Korean girl in August 08. I wasn't expecting things to get too serious, but by November she was already wanting to talk about getting married and moving back to the U.S.
Where we have a one year anniversary, they have 100 days. It's a big deal. I didn't even realize it was coming up, but apparently it was. Realizing I was getting in over my head, I tried to end things amicably.
That didn't work at all, and she started talking about killing herself. Then a few days later she claimed to have gotten a positive result on a pregnancy test. Now I was really freaked out. Later she brought in some kind of medical report from a doctor, and a Korean friend looked it over and said it was an ultrasound report, but other people thought it might be fake. The timing was suspicious, and there were some discrepancies that I won't get into. Anyway, I ended up giving her about $600 USD for an abortion, which she may or may not have actually had. At some point I had promised her that if she had an abortion, I would take care of her, so she held me to that, and she moved into my apartment for about a week. She probably thought she could win me back over during that time, but I wasn't having it.
At the end of the week she moved all her stuff out and also took my rabbit. That was lame.

I taught in the boondocks (Yamaguchi-ken), so any foreigner there was treated like a super star (or stalked), but in mid-sized kens or major cities I did see a lot of the 'look' going around. As a girl I often felt that my experience was, unfairly, much more pleasant than the boys', but I'm not exactly threatening-looking to anyone. Many assumed I was half anyway, and therefore moderately 'acceptable'.

I didn't think it had. I was friends with a few kids in high school/college who were half and grew up partly in Japan, but they got so much shit their parents either relocated to the US or sent them to live with their grandparents. I can't blame them, I wouldn't want to put my children through that.

Yeah, when my brother and I moved to Aomori, the second day we were there, the mayor showed up at our apartment and invited us to a dinner.
And then there was a newspaper article about us later that week.

I was over there for 5 years (2005-2010) myself.
I did the JET Programme for the first 3 years and then moved to Osaka and did a bunch of part-time gigs, primarily for GEOS GCI (they apparently went out of business a week after I left the country!) and a study/work abroad agency called Last Resort.
I have experience living in the middle-of-nowhere countryside and right in the heart of the city over there so if anybody has random questions about Japan fire away.

I was on TV a couple of times, and they'd put me in the newspaper for the littlest things (I believe that was more to promote English, though). But, in the end I don't think I looked exotic enough for them. Inevitably I'd always get asked by my elementary school kids on the first day, "Why aren't your eyes blue?"...So any positions available?

Been rehabbing it for about $300k.
Sold it for $1.3 million.
Not the best return BUT I AM SO GLAD TO BE RID OF IT. At one point my girlfriend and I were living in it because I'd have to be there at all hours to monitor the various crews.
