I had to room with a guy during a traveling show during high school. He was gay, I was not, but he kept approaching me anyway. Kept grabbing my ass, even kissed me in my sleep. Whenever I told people about it, they would laugh and even encourage him. Even the trip supervisors acted this way. That's one example. I've run into many similar situations since then, possibly because I've become more sensitive to it.

I've been to a couple of gay clubs because the drink prices are amazing.

Whenever someone does start to talk to me, I make sure to mention I'm straight. Maybe it's assuming too much, but it seems better than leading them on. And sometimes guys just want to have a conversation because they're friendly drunks.

I can say from my own experience, if you are a young man/boy and playing a Sport in school, the chances are pretty good that you have been sexually harassed/abused. Whether it's Coaches taking advantage of their position of power or fellow students Hazing you or harassing/homophobic language.

It's in our culture, and it's stupid.
 
I live in the predominantly gay area in Toronto and I've never had anything but the best experiences when it comes to being hit on. It's only happened a few times, but they're always really polite and react pretty well when I mention that I'm straight. As I said, though, it's rare. Never been harassed.

Yeah. It was actually a good club this one. We would go from one club that closed at 2:00 am to this one that closed at 5:00 am. We would go mainly because it was still open and the music was pretty good in there.

Yeah. That's why there was a different dress code for straight people that went into that club. Gay people tended to dress up in some crazy gear. lol

Straight people dressed up in like a shirt, dark jeans/trousers and shoes. that is pretty much standard dress code in a lot of clubs though.

Yeah, locker room behavior, ugh. I was only ever picked on once, freshman year of high school; there was a guy in my PE class who hated me for whatever reason, even though I never talked to him. He'd shove me, call me a f*g, grab me when he walked past. Dude was a lot bigger than me, and I didn't want to confront him cause he had friends in the same period. I'd just get jumped by them all. After a month of this; I was pretty sick of it, and shouted "hey, fuck off man!" after he shoved me into some lockers.

He was enraged, "the fuck did you just say?"

"Fuck you man"

He shoved me again, but left me alone after that. Never understood what the hell his problem was.

I had a guy hit on me at the pool once. That was weird.

I didn't even realize I was being hit on until my friends brought it to my attention. I'm so oblivious to these things. :P

Not quite as bad, but I woke up to the sound of my cat vomiting everywhere. And she couldn't do it in just one place, noooo, she had to go from place to place and do it. And I know she vomited somewhere near my PS3... I sort of don't want to go look.

Can we all agree that cats and dogs are equally terrible now >>

Damn, my cats do this so often. They are long haired too so they barf out hairballs too. I don´t know why they are called hairballs either... they look like long turds made of hair.

Yes. In some ways I'm glad to have run into some of my "encounters," because they make me more aware of harassment and sexism. I told my fiance when we first started dating, "if I ever do anything that makes you uncomfortable -- anything -- you tell me to stop." Nothing makes me more sick than thinking of someone trying to take advantage of her. It's a disturbing emotion, difficult to explain... one of the few things that really, really bothers me is sexual harassment and the offenses that come with that.

A lot of kids just accept this kind of harassment as the norm because that's just the way it's always been and if, as a dude, you speak out against it you're suddenly a sissy who can't take a joke. So when those kids get older or some new kid joins the locker-room you see the cycle continue. There is nobody encouraging young men to stop it, so it just keeps going.

My mom's cat is long-haired, and she does this all the time. Yeah, I don't really know why they became known as hair "balls", and I always see them depicted as balls too. Maybe some cats do it? With her cat it's more like hair logs :/
