http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/7...ese-speights-xavier-henry-new-orleans-hornetsThe Memphis Grizzlies will try to get through the loss of Zach Randolph for up to two months by acquiring Philadelphia 76ers big man Marreese Speights.
After learning that Randolph with miss six to eight weeks with a torn medial collateral ligament, suffered Sunday in Chicago, the Grizzlies on Wednesday completed a three-team trade with Philadelphia and New Orleans.
The deal sends Memphis swingman Xavier Henry to the Hornets.
Completing the transaction are two second-round picks to the 76ers: The Hornets will send theirs from 2013, and the Grizzlies send theirs from 2012.
The Grizzlies were in search of added depth in the frontcourt even before Randolph was injured, having already lost versatile forward Darrell Arthur, their most valued reserve, to a season-ending Achilles injury last month.
On Wednesday, the team announced that Randolph's MRI revealed the ligament tear. He was injured when teammate O.J. Mayo fell onto him in during a 40-point loss in Chicago.
Memphis wanted to move quickly in the wake of its 2-3 start. The Grizzlies have never faced higher expectations after upsetting top-seeded San Antonio in the first round of last season's playoffs before losing to Oklahoma City in the second round in seven games.
Randolph averaged 20.1 points and 12.2 rebounds last season and was averaging 19 points and nine rebounds before he was injured.
Speights, 6-foot-11 and 245 pounds, is in his fourth season with the 76ers, who selected him out of Florida with the 16th overall pick in the 2007 draft but has never averaged more than 16.4 minutes per game in the NBA. He has not played this season.
Henry, 6-6 and 220 pounds, played in 38 games as a rookie last season in Memphis but has missed the start of this season with torn ligaments in his right ankle.
"We are delighted to welcome Xavier to our team and the New Orleans community," Hornets general manager Dell Demps said in a release Wednesday. "We hope Xavier will develop into a good basketball player that will contribute to the success of the New Orleans Hornets this season and into the future."
I wanted Sharp back, now that you root for a winning team.

Chad Ford said:If Barnes played as hard as Gilchrist or was as good of an athlete, he'd be the next Kobe.
Maybe he can justify his PER!
Ostertag became the oldest player in the D-League when he joined the Texas Legends earlier in the week and, in a move that wasn't at all surprising, the 38-year-old looked that way when he took the court for the D-League affiliate of the Dallas Mavericks. The longtime center for the Utah Jazz scored just two points in 17 minutes of court time while fouling four times to almost offset the 11 rebounds he hauled in for the losing team.
It's obvious that Ostertag plans to play his way in to shape over the next two weeks leading up to the make-or-break D-League Showcase, but as the picture at left shows, he isn't exactly in shape as of yet. His conditioning was most apparent when getting beat in the paint -- the fouls he picked up came as a result of this -- but there were numerous times when the Legends pushed the ball up court only to find themselves going 4-on-5 as Ostertag lumbered his way back on the offensive end.
They could, but OKC vs Heat would make for a terrible final series. Like, it may be some of the worst basketball ever played.I've been thinking about OKC getting out of the west this year and I just don't see it...the west is so dysfunctional that it could happen, but still tough to envision it actually happening for me.
Briefly, then I took it back.

What happened to Speights? I thought he was a promising young big man. Was he that much of a black hole?
Collins is well known for yanking guys around, especially bigs. Will tell the press they're starting for the rest of the season one day, and two games later the guy starts a stint of getting nothing but garbage time. Then suddenly he's playing 40 minutes for four games. So on and so forth.
I remember something like a couple weeks with Kwame on the Wizards, Collins was all for him, then benched him after two games and said Laettner would start for the rest of the year. Then after a couple games Laettner got a bunch of DNPs and Kwame had a few game stretch where he got minutes and was getting like 15/8 and suddenly he disappeared and Charles Oakley was playing all the minutes.
He did the same thing with the Pistons and it's why Don Reid wound up starting all those games at center.
Yeah, Collins will also pick on little things too. I remember he had a real problem with Theo Ratliff because Ratliff couldn't box out and rebound that great like you'd expect when he first got in the league. Mostly because he was like 220 and couldn't handle the big guys down low, but he was still a great shot blocker which the Pistons needed, and they had Thorpe and Grant Hill who could rebound so it wasn't a huge issue. He's sort of doing that with Turner right now...but Turner is a bitch so that could also have something to do with it.
Still Meeks has been god awful this year so it's time to start the Emo.
But who knows how much of that was Jordan.
I was getting worried, but, thankfully, Mike Wilbon has started up the "Kevin Love to the Lakers!" chatter. Because that's realistic.
For those picking Miami, No Wade tonight most likely.
And Indiana has been one of the best Rebounding/Defensive teams so far which means big trouble for Miami.
"He's a California kid..."
Because he played 1 year at UCLA and his uncle is a Beach Boy?

That's Owner Jordan though...Naw... Jordan has already hopped on Silas for only giving Kemba 12 minutes despite his shitty showing in Cleveland the other day. Also, he's pimping Biyomgno harder than ever.

It's not like he was born and raised in Or or something..
California boy comes home to LA!

Wikipedia said:Love had a successful high school career with the Lake Oswego Lakers.
Indiana has also gotten to play the worst offensive teams in the league so far. They were good defensively last year, but their stats are overrated by their pathetic schedule.
Your right, I just checked their schedule, overated/unproved so far.
John Wall is sad.

I was just thinking next year we might have a draft with Doc Rivers' son and Tim Hardaway Jr... Damn I'm old..

Shawn Kemp Jr already came through and Nate McMillan's son is almost done with college, too.
Kemp doesn't count because he is only 12 years older than his son...
Made you look that up didn't I?
