Fluke, my ass. Dirk is one of the top playoff performers in the NBA. His numbers are ridiculous. Not to mention he was a better player than Durant, Kobe, Wade, or Lebron in the playoffs.

Kobe
Dirk
Wade
Bynum
Dwight

Would be my new list based on who I'd want for the playoffs. Durant might have been higher if not for how embarrassing OKC's collapse last year was. Anyone remember the last game in that series in detail? Durant was just chucking up 3s over and over from way behind the line. It was mind-boggling and I'll never forget it till he gets over the hump, if ever.

Edit: In fact he shouldn't even be #3 after throwing up bricks like that. I'd put Wade's flopping ass at 3.

Truthfully I don't think D'Antoni and Walsh wanted to make the trade. My gut tells me both guys were looking to get a pg to run D'Antoni's offense, but then Dolan stepped in pulled the trigger. Donnie said fuck it and didn't resign and then CAA stepped in. D'Antoni doesn't have his supporter anymore in Walsh and the current guys didn't hire him and have a different vision for the team. They get Chandler who is another guy D'Antoni probably doesn't care to have and then hire their own defensive coach in Woodson who has coaching experience and more than anything else a sign that Dolan is willing to fire D'Antoni during the season. Halfway through the season if the knicks aren't meeting whatever standard Dolan and CAA set D'Antoni will get the axe and Woodson will be interim coach.

My top 5 would be like:

1. Kobe
2. Durant
3. LeBron
4. Bynum
5. Dwight

I'd still take Kobe over anybody in the playoffs.

Even as a Lakers fan I wouldn't put Kobe as #1. IF he can play like the game he did against Houston yesterday, you can make a case for him as #1. But the truth is he cannot play like that consistently, at least not with all the injuries accumulated on his hand, fingers and knees.

And Bynum is just LOL.

where smokey at?!

Be honest instead of LOL'ing Bynum. Knowing you NEED a big man on your team in the playoffs and knowing there's really only 2 legit centers in the league right now in Bynum and Dwight, who would you pick with a gun to your head? I'd take Bynum over Dwight's soft, free-throw bricking ass. That's why he's in the top 5.

Why did CP3 go for the foul? Doesn't he know that shit isn't called on anymore.
Old habits die hard.

Yeah but there's a technical problem here, namely that you'd have to be a complete moron to take Bynum over Dwight and that there are a ton of better players than Bynum.

right now, jim buss is looking more and more like a genius and prophet.

The fact that Brian Cook is not only in the NBA but plays solid backup minutes for the Clippers blows my mind. Is their bench really that bad?

you have literally not had bynum healthy for any of your finals runs what in the good goddamn fuck are you babbling about

Watching the last few kings games has made me understand completely that cousins has a right to be pissed off, even if he is too immature to express it correctly. Back in the day the way a big man would handle this situation is to tell his guards that he is going to get post position and not move, and it's up to them to get him the ball or get an offensive 3 second. Don't think the media would be favorable to something like that these days, especially from someone with his reputation.

It's not like he wants to be known as the least efficient big man in the league, and this offense doesn't play to his (or anyone on the team really) strengths at all. He always gets the ball on the elbow and is expected to find cutters, only there are no cutters cause no one on this team knows how to move without the ball or utilize a screen.

They'll spend 15 seconds running the most useless ineffectual pick and rolls then dump the ball into cousins in the high post or 10 feet outside the low block with 5 seconds left on the clock and expect him to bail them out.

None of this excuses him shooting like 10% on offensive putbacks at the rim though. I think he is taking the 'don't bring the ball back down on an offensive rebound, just tip it in' big man coaching mantra too seriously. Sometimes you need to grab it with 2 hands and go up strong if you don't have the angle for an accurate tip, you'll at least force a foul, and he is hitting his FTs well this season, so he doesn't need to worry about going to the line.

Yeah he needs to go up strong on his putbacks. There are times where there's not even anyone in front of him and he still tries to quick shoot it back in. Tonight he mixed in turn around jumpers, drives, hooks and dunks. Denver had nobody who could guard him, but it didn't really matter as he didn't get any looks until the game was way out of reach.

Dre cut his body fat percentage from 9.5% to 5.1% while maintaining his 290lb weight meaning he did his cut AND gained muscle. His conditioning being so much better puts less stress on his knees and he'll be less injury-prone in general.

Right here: http://hangtime.blogs.nba.com/2011/12/31/bynums-return-just-in-time-for-lakers/

stop calling him Dre. He's Andrew, not Andre. And the agreed upon nickname is Big Sexy for when he's doing good, or Bynumbskull for when he fucks up. These terms are non-negotiable.

how did he take pressure off his knee if he literally weighs the same

what does that even mean

why am i talking to you

must be the amazing avatar tbh

It's called muscle. If a 400lb guy that was all fat were to move around would it be the same as a 400lb guy with all muscle? Who would move around better and be less prone to injury?

In terms of stress to the joint? It's the same.

unless all the muscle gain was to his quads and hamstrings he didnt take much pressure off shit because thats not how pressure on your joints works

beaten twice but fuck it needed saying

Fair enough. It's clear I'm surrounded by a group of physiology experts over here. I still think his conditioning is gonna be a big factor in how injury-prone he is this year.

I'm not a physiology expert.

but I did take the class seven years ago in Medical School.

I'm actually in school right now for health sciences. Took Anatomy & Physiology 1 and 2, took Chemistry 1 and 2, took Microbiology, General Biology 1 and 2, Nutrition, Organic Chem, just got a few more to go. I should've known that about weight and stress to the joints.

All good and goodluck. Also, don't try to change Best-GAF nicknames.
