NFL 2011 Wild Card |OT| Where Everyone Is In Like Flynn

Legend has it that a new Packers fan is created with every Flynn TD and HoFinley drop.

Next year we might have 50+ new fans then!
You can count on 10+ from Finley, and Flynn should be able to get 40 TDs assuming he plays in at least 8 games.

After looking at this some more, it's probably fake. It's not anywhere that I've seen but the Lions facebook.

Those motherfuckers.....We'll have the last laugh Saturday though!

This is one of my most anticipated sporting events ever. Seriously getting butterflies thinking about the game.

Weather in NYC for Sunday- 45F, mostly cloudy, 20% chance of rain.

Hopefully no rain during the game.

Worrisome injuries for the Falcons:

Brent Grimes DB has a knee injury, did not practice yesterday.
Harry Douglas WR has a groin injury, did not practice. He has been largely absent the last couple of games.

Getting excited already. Sunday will be a long time getting here.

New Orleans looks tough, Detroit has Stafford and Johnson who can keep the game interesting. Wish Detroit had a better running game to play some ball control. As the Falcons learned, no defensive pressure on Brees spells doom for the Lions. Hope they can overpower that Saints OL.

Going to be a tough game. I think Brees gets rid of the ball to quickly for the Lions D-line to really be a factor. He has a multitude of weapons and Jimmy Grahm is a match up nightmare. Detroit's secondary is on and off, but I'm guessing Brees is going to keep them off all game, which doesn't bode well. Fortunately Ingram isn't active, but the Saints run game could still pose a threat against the Lions D.

As for the offense, it'll be interesting to see how the Lions come out and what the Saints do with Megatron. I'm sure Titus Young and Pettigrew will come out hot because of the way they let their emotions get the best of the last time, which could be good. And Stafford doesn't have the glove on this go around and is throwing in a dome. Kevin Smith and Maurice Morris will be good for some yardage, but Linnehan doesn't stay committed to the run, even when it is working. I don't know much about the Saints D, even after seeing them the first time these teams played. I just know the rumblings from here saying they arn't very good defensively

Should be a good game that can go either way. But the pendulum swings in Detroit's favor this time. NO is just the first stop on the Revenge Tour.

Brent Grimes has had a pretty good year right? I'm ok if he decides he wants to be fully healthy for round 2 of the playoffs and sits out.

How are Roddy and Julio against the press? I was saying yesterday that I would expect to see a lot of short and intermediate stuff to neutralize the pass rush. We run (way too much) zone for the most part and I'm afraid that outside of Boley our LBers will get killed underneath. Gonzo will likely go off. I am getting less and less confident about this.

I had a dream that FMT (it was actually Harbaugh because of his avatar, although it would've been better if it was a dude in blackface) walked into my office and screamed, "9ers BIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIITCH!" and then walked out.

Damnit.

Too bad I've seen what FMT looks like (albeit in blackface), otherwise this would be a prime opportunity to declare that FMT was Harbaugh all along and follow it with that Shyamalan pic.

I was listening to the Rich Eisen podcast, and Brian Williams of NBC was one of the guests. He's a big Giants fans, and so they were running through the games. In probably the most predictable yet funny things he could have said, he declined to pick a Saints-Lions winner.

He apparently feels such an affinity for both cities b/c of Katrina and the collapse of the auto industry, he just hated that one team had to lose. He was about to say that the downtrodden and disenfranchised fans of the other playoff teams could go suck his balls, but they ran out of time

Tony Gonzales wanted to be a Giant. I still remember when talks of him coming to NY were happening.

http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/giants/big_blue_wannabe_HJbSUsKvLfBXNrG2ZfMA6I

The Falcons’ certain Hall of Fame tight end said yesterday he lobbied for Big Blue to acquire him in 2009 after he demanded a trade from the Chiefs.

The Giants declined, apparently because of concerns about Gonzalez’s age, prompting Kansas City to deal the 12-time Pro Bowl selection to Atlanta.

“I think about that all the time,” Gonzalez said about what could have been with the Giants. “I was pushing for [a trade to the Giants], too, but it didn’t happen. I think they thought I was old back then, too.”

It was Eli Manning & Co., not family, that were the big Giants lure for Gonzalez.

“The team, first and foremost,” Gonzalez said when asked what attracted him to the Giants. “It was a good team with Eli. It had that same attraction [Atlanta] did with Brandon Jacobs in the backfield, Eli throwing the ball and some good receivers. It was an attractive place.”

Would have loved to have you, Tony!

Count me as a Packers fan who rarely posts who has residual kind feelings for the Lions from the Barry Sanders days. I think the playoffs would be a little disappointing without Saints-9ers, tho, so I'm rooting for NOLA.

Sorry, everyone wants to see the "Hate" re-match between Harbaugh and Schwartz. Unfortuantely for Saints and Packer fans, that means we will have to leave them in our wake.

Roddy has this dip move to the outside than gets him open on the sideline everytime. The 15+ yard throw to the tight sideline is strangely enough Matt's best throw by far. I'm not even talking back shoulder - he just has a way of dropping the ball right in bounds.

Julio hasn't faced much press all year, presumably due to his stature.

Grimes has been as good as he was last year when healthy. Moore has really come on in the second half. Him and Grimes are the playmakers in the backfield. DeCoud's unfortunately had a bad year.

I wonder what actual journalists feel about the complete ass-fucking their title has gotten over the last decade.

Yeah, I meant to put that one in quotes. I think my tone put that message across anyway. It's Gawker being Gawker. Insipid to the end.

Roddy was also a really good wrestler in school so that helps.

fill me in on what von miller has done better than aldon smith. if you're going to say tackles then london fletcher is the best defensive player in the league

He's surprisingly competent against the run, which I am guessing AS is not, otherwise he'd be something more than a pass rush specialist. Miller can impact the game with more than QB pressure. In the second Chargers game, in OT, Miller powered through a block and made a diving 3rd down tackle on Tolbert like 3-4 yards in the backfield that made their potential GW FG that much longer and they ended up missing it. In that same situation would AS had even been in the game as a run liability? AS is a great pass rusher but so is Miller and he's a more complete player. His thumb injury basically killed his play in the last few games of the season and he still has virtually the same stats as AS.

Guy who is an every down, more complete player > guy who comes in on pass situations and just rushes

Shoulder dip at the los /= pushoff

I don't expect a newly minted Saints fan to understand.

After that Graham .gif (where he essentially molests a LB to make a one handed grab) I don't think Saints fans get to complain about push offs for the rest of the season.

new right it seems like only yesterday i was watching the dome patrol. Had to suffer through the 3-13 seasons of Ditka, the ERROR Brooks years.YOU RIGHT. I only became a Saints fan last week.

Jesus, it's like a "who can be the trashier most obnoxious organization" competition. I'd root for a meteor to strike but Jonm would probably come in here and weep like a bitch about how he knows martians who were struck by a meteor.

LOL, there is not a trashier, more obnoxious fan base than Green Bay. Maybe the Steeler fanbase - probably a coin flip.

Full on facemask.

For Saints fans complaining about push offs (at the LOS lol):

http://www.detroitlions.com/news/li...e-around/62515d38-d4e4-415d-9292-ea8cf5a18a78

These days, the only thing that surprises Calvin Johnson when it comes to the coverage, is when there’s just one defender in front of him.

Johnson has seen it all over the last five seasons.

The Saints went to the extreme in one case in their first meeting with the Lions, treating Johnson like a gunner on a punt during a red zone play.

Saints safety Malcom Jenkins stalked Johnson all over the field in the first game as the Saints devoted two defenders to him almost the entire game.

Meaning, they pressed him into oblivion with two guys on him at the LOS. And you're going to complain?

Dude....people know people that worked on people after Katrina. Crossed the line.

Oh wow...I didn't know. I just didn't know about that, man.

Tell your friends who know people who know people who know people who slept with people who know people who were in a band with people who know people who looted electronic stores with other people who were at Katrina, that I'm deeply terribly sorry.

just heard but hadn't realized the patriots did not beat a single team with a winning record this year, crazy.
