PS Vita US Launch Details (Launch Games, Accessory Pricing)

Any word on what the 3G pricing will be? I'm guessing the stock 2GBs of data for $25 that most tablets on AT&T use?

??

Other than the memory card I don't feel anything's a rip-off really.

You paid $20 for a hunk of plastic, with a couple of wires passing through it, that serves no purpose beyond looking pretty. How where you not ripped off on that? That's even worse than the memory card.

It's only $20, the PS2 stand used to costs $25, hardly a rip-off. Plus it looks pretty, like you said. :P

That is just absolutely ludicrous, especially the memory card.

All of the value of ownership, and joy, is lost in that colossal rip-off. ($50 games?)

And you guys have to wonder why this thing will tank?

/

I used to buy imports and throw my money away just as good as the next guy/idiot, even better. But this, and in this day and age, and USA pricing?

Not your money. why do you care what he does with his? If he bought it, is cause he sees value where you don't, don't let your situation be what you use to make statements like this.

So I think I've decided on my purchases.

Wifi Vita
16GB memory card (might go for 8GB)
Uncharted
virtua Tennis

That should keep me satisfied for a while.

Day 1 ownership of any kind of tech device is always an incredibly stupid, terrible investment.

I can't wait.

They better hurry up and put those damn cradles in stock!
You planning on putting a wig on the Vita and call it Clarice?!?!

That is solid enough. I am going 32GB, Little Deviants, Motorstorm, 120 in PSN credit and probably Lumines. I'm holding on to see what accessories but likely a soft case and a screen protector. I have to cut back because I want re-buy a PS3.

I know I want to add about 100 to my Steam wallet so I I have to really make it count.

Every other country in the world pays 70$+ more for the base hardware (and the rest of accessories cost more as well).

No Uncharted?

UGH if true--$25 for 2GB's seems like such a money grab, esp. for 3G.

I'm buying the 3G version of the Vita, but there's no way in hell I'll be using the 3G until the fees get more reasonable (if they ever do...).

It's standard AT&T 3G pricing. I wouldn't expect it to get better, just get more expensive tiers on top of what's already there. They also have a 4GB plan for $45 IIRC.

I'm picking up two Wi-Fi Vitas, two 8GB memory cards, Wipeout, LittleBigPlanet, Touch My Katamari, Minna no Golf and BlazBlue. 3 out of those 5 games are $29. Still... quite expensive. I'll pickup Uncharted when it drops to $29.

I haven't had a system at launch since the original PSP and the Dreamcast, so I'm quite excited about it.

Sorry for the noob question but I'm assuming there are no issues with getting a US Vita which I'll be taking back to Europe? Just cos I'm in the region here but will move back to Europe eventually. The only thing I should worry about is which region I set my account up to, right?

If you are taking it back to Europe, you should probably stay away from the 3G Vita. It will most likely be SIM locked to AT&T just as the Japanese 3G Vita is locked to DOCOMO. (I don't think the Hong Kong 3G Vita is SIM locked)

I would think you would be fine with the WiFi only Vita though. Other's who have imported Vitas from other regions have been able to set up accounts for their particular region.

There have been no formal announcements, so who know if this is the plan or not.

It's probably more economical to manage your 3G expense using prepaid plans first.

Seeing the $50 price tag on Uncharted makes me especially happy I have a $26 pre-order. I really need to move my ass and finally pre-order a Vita. Any good deals for one in Canada or am I stuck paying full price?

The only reason I want Uncharted at launch is for the fact that it is a "showcase" game for the system. It's the game that will show off the Vita's power the best.

Only reason I'm keeping it is cause..well..it's Uncharted, and I got my preorder locked before it went to $49.99

If you throw it, you might kill someone. It's big.

Hmm. But Virtua Tennis 4 doesn't have the impact of playing Uncharted on a portable device. I want to impress my friends, colleagues and relatives with my awesome new toy.

Download the Uncharted demo, problem solved.

Good point. I'm going to try to lock it down for cheap somewhere. If I can't, I'll grab the demo to wow the masses.

Yeah, Uncharted is the game that will show off nearly all of the Vita's features. I get that.

In a perfect world, Ridge Racer would would be the showcase title just as it was at PSP's launch.

Thanks man. Wifi model it is which I'll probably hand on to someone if I have a compelling reason to get the 3G on return to Europe. Thusfar I haven't seen a reason for 3G (and don't really game on the move unless I'm flying) so let's see.

Thanks again.

Just pre-ordered a 4gig memory card from Amazon, just so I wouldn't find myself screwed on launch day.

Was hoping to snag an 8gig or 16gig, but they still aren't available yet.

So far, I'm set up with:

PSVita 3G/Wi-Fi
Uncharted: Golden Abyss
LittleBigPlanet (if it actually releases that day)
4GB Memory card.

Amazon actually has my Uncharted arriving on February 15, so I'll have a game and no system to play it on. lol.

My memory card won't be coming until later, but I may end up picking one up from *ugh* Gamestop if I have to.

Getting pretty excited now. I also have a few PSP titles lined up to get off of PSN so I'll have a little extra gaming while I wait for more Vita releases.

Can't you just tether your phone or use a mobile broadband device to internet to your Vita away from your home? With that in mind, I may go WiFi only since I don't think I'm going to like ATT's 3G plan(I already have ATT for my cell phone).

I'm sure you can. That's why I'm going wifi.

You can but AT&T and other companies like to bend you over to use that functionality. It actually can cost more to share your existing connection than to get another plan.

I will be getting:

3G First Edition unit that comes with all the extra stuff.
32 Gb memeory card.
About 10 launch games.

May buy the $25/month 3G AT&T package for the first month of usage, then drop it down to the smaller $15 one the 2nd month after i see the usage numbers.

Not paying all cash for this. I am trading in a bunch of console games that i have since gotten cheap on Steam sales. I have about 30 games on pc now that look and run so great, i no longer need the 360/PS3 versions. ;)
