About as much as Giant Killing/Captain Tsubasa. More Captain Tsubasa.
Giant Killing never went down the route of super shots did it? I only watched like 7 episodes of the anime.

Read a couple of chapters from the manga, it's quite realistic. (I've never actually seen any other soccer series so I can't compare for you, sorry.)

As long as the goal's nets aren't being torn from how awesome the shots are, I will be fine with it.

The manga is pretty low-shounen action stuff. It's more a new version of Aoki Densetsu Shoot!.
Consider me fucking hyped then

So I caught up on Guilty Crown recently, and damn, episode 11 was pretty boss. Hoping they can keep this momentum going, but I really don't expect much.

Going to catch up with Penguindrum in a few days, as well as Ben-To, and maybe see if there are any decent shows to catch this season.

Probably not though. Sigh.

I need to figure out what the episode 11.5 of Guilty Crown was about. Episode 11 seemed like the Momentum was just getting started though with Shu preparing to become even more epic if he can rise to the occasion from the events.

Looking at poetery cards while listening to a poetry recital while wearing silly clothes will never be a sport.

If players go for the cards with the meat bun barrel roll style, it should qualify a sport. Possibly a contact sport, if you throw in the headbutt to the chin.

That seems a bit drastic. Just because it's the greatest voice acting ever doesn't mean you should off yourself out of despair of knowing nothing else will be as good, gahvnah.

Git dat 1930's representation of england out of mah eventually-imported-to-the-UK 2011 game.

Haha. It was pretty #whatthefuckisgoingon, but damn, Shu was getting pretty epic. But 11.5? Whatever do you mean?

I'm guessing 2 episodes until he becomes an emo little shit again.

Also what was up with eyebrows dude? I didn't expect some kid who's supposed to be really badass and a major antagonist to Shu to have such retarded eyebrows...

(first and last time using hashtags on GAF. shit does not fly.)

I'm only keeping up with GC in the hopes that Shu gets tragically NTR'd.

I'm keeping up with it to see if Shu actually ends up in a list of worst protagonists, evarrrrr.

Shinji Ikari did the worthlessness thing a lot earlier and, well, a lot better. Where's Shu's daddy issues?

Wandering Son 04-07
So I walked away from this while it was running because it wasn't exactly grabbing me. Some of the meta self commentary is still bugging me, and the main characters (Shuichi and Yoshino) just kind of bore me. It takes a lot of work to write a crossdresser who bores me. Fortunately the ancillary characters are taking up a lot of time in the spotlight and making things interesting.

Saori > Anna > Horseman > Everyone else.

Guilty Crown feels that if it apes successful shows of the past it will somehow attract their success, almost by association. Of course it's fairly easy to see that this whole cargo-cult mentality is a dead end when you realise that all the fools are doing is creating a poor effigy of another show.

I am seriously considering buying a Crunchyroll membership just because I know fuckers in this thread are gonna spoil it every week for me like they do with The Chihaya Show. :(

Really? There's probably only 5 people in this thread who like football anyway :/

But obviously I have one already and so should you.

Now and Then, Here and There 3

Ok, so immediately after dramatic selective screen blurring, you have a scene where during this dude's flow of speech you see him go from being on his knees in the middle of the room with a girl behind him to being where the girl was while the girl is in the doorway in front of where he used to be.

It's like I'm watching Yami again!

But it's all condensed in one super-duper silly show!

Sailor Moon 16

Usagi is a firm believer in polygamy apparently.

Rei is amazing, what a cunning girl. But she should have known that Usagi’s mom would be as useless as her daughter. Ami is a strong independent woman, fighting the notion that all girls must have dreams of becoming a bride someday.

Basically what I learned from this episode is that the concept of marriage makes women go delusional and crazy. The oh so ever subtle Rei x Ami (who continue to hilariously steal Usagi’s lines) pairing rears its head again in this episode, awesome. Monster of the week was boring this week as pretty much the rest of the episode.

Dawwww. Guess I'll see if this comes true in the future, would be nice foreshadowing.

Doesn't the snake arc have Renai Circulation, thereby validating its existence?

I wouldn't know, I only watched two and half episodes of this crap.

Renai circulation validates any existence.

Now and Then, Here and There 1

Well, this is going to be fun...

So we get to meet this young boy with a penchant for spitting his food at family and knocking over shit who's looking to score with this girl at school if he can win his match today. So he brings his godlike Ken in against this lame ass Guile, and rushes in going SHORYUKEN! SHORYUKEN! and it's not fucking doing anything. He thinks he's clearly winning though because the other dude hasn't even attacked yet, so he tries mixing it up by jumping behind him and doing an EX Shoryuken, but it doesn't hit the guy and then suddenly he lost.

NTHT01-Loss_zps4cd55a23.jpg

"What the fuck?," he shouts. He's so enraged by the other guy's weak play that he throws down his controller and decides to knock over more shit. He cools off though and tries to talk up his opponent for a rematch, saying how awesome the match was and how he almost had that one. The Guile player turns him down though, saying he doesn't want to play him again and calls him a scrub. Our hero doesn't get why, so the other guy talks about using more than one attack, blocking, and having a gameplan. Our hero is confused and thinks he's bullshitting, and that's when he comes up with the idea of hacking to get a leg up on cheap players like him. From then on he decides the normal rules no longer apply to him, and goes around proving this.

"Fuck yeah."

"This is true skill. Players online don't know what's coming for them."

Shu is wholle unremarkable. what happens to him in this show is the exact opposite.

best character

And no, Renal Circulation doesn't make up for snake loli~ since it's only in like one episode anyway.

Yes it does! But there is nothing snail girl can do to improve her standing.

Now and Then, Here and There 2

NTHT02-Wat_zps635ea294.jpg

Yeah that was horribly translated or otherwise improperly worded. I wasn't sure if the real DVd version subbed it that way but it is the same translation.

They cut off her hair.

But they also turned her into a dominatrix so it balances out in the end.

I am ok with this.

Down. Grade.

More of a dominatrix, going by the CMs.

It's just GGPO lag.

Not really a downgrade. how do you downgrade Senjougahara? Its impossible.

Would be true if they didn't butcher the other waifus as well (except Kanbaru).

Yeah it's just a bad shot:

Agreed on some of the others. Especially snake girl. No bangs, no sale.

Still hnnnggh.

Except this hsow is actually good, albeit kind of disturbing.

Actually, it didn't sound like a mistranslation.

If thats the case, then the script writers fucked up a bit.

Recorder and Randsell 1

This was way shorter than I expected. It's probably for the best though. So far Yoiko is clearly the better show.

Clearly NTHT should be renamed to "Daigo. The Early Years".

The Ponytail clearly makes this an upgrade.

._.

This is on par with Yozora cutting her hair off. Damned hell.
Yozora looked better with short hair imo.

I might normally accuse this of being 'nit-picking' but as soon as I'm not engaged with a story and don't have the option of simply 'not watching' then my brain will usually go into overdrive noting everything that's wrong.

Honestly I really think you guys take a lot of the fun out of watching this stuff.
Kind of how like gaming side has taken al ot of the fun out of videogames. I dont really understand it. Maybe I just see things more simply. Its hard to enjoy anything when youre nitpicking it all the time.

When I first watched NTHT I didnt even notice any of these supposed glaring errors or story problems or anything. I just saw a story about a kid who gets caught in a fucked up warzone led by a warlord who is crazy like hitler. In that sense I really enjoyed it. I also watched it dubbed, so thats probably why I didnt notice the error posted above.

It's impossible to not note blatant defects unless you're blind, drunk, or stupid. It's not really nitpicking right now.

Being critical of things makes it more rewarding when you watch something that's actually good!
