This is the kind of shit that makes me see just how broad, flimsy, and fucking ridiculous, the idea of taste is.
Nah, because they also speak about stuff outside the USA. Lord knows why.
Yeah, why have standards or even opinions at all? Let's just post pictures of moe cockroaches all day.
If you mean your tag then it was from an agreement from both of us. I held up my end, but you haven't held up yours.![]()

This and that are different things.I already had the tag before that.

I wish I had the patience for making gifs. Still images can't do this episode any justice, CGI water be damned.
I tend to sound repetitive regarding Tutu, but the show merits it. This cour finale encapsulated everything that has made this first half not only enjoyable, but emotionally satisfying. Seldom have I watched anything were I felt that no element is out of place (). Putting Schwanensee at the forefront was a stroke of genius. While the piece serves to amplify the emotional drama Tutu and Fakir go through, it manages to overtake the story and makes them seem as a visual representation of the actual piece. Again, the ballet in this is fucking brilliant.actually, that would be a lie, because that flashback to the classmates and Mr. Cat felt too much like a cartoon and not enough like a ballet piece
Plotwise there are some big holes (), but the point of this show has never been included such trivialities. Ahiru's core conflict was handled sublimely, definitely echoing the mantra of "love conquers all" without feeling cynical about it. My only disappointment is that I cannot figure out where this will go at all during the second season. Sure, there's stuff about Mythoat what point did Edel save Fakir? where did Fakir fall if the lake was just an illusion?, but what about Ahiru herself? It seems that her character arc is done through... or is it?having to fight the Raven and all that shit
What a delightful cartoon. Too early to rate it, but I would give it five tutus out of five if I could right now.

Welll, that's one thing you might all agree on, at least.
This and that are different things.
They certainly picked the safest of the safe bets!

It's awful, really; this show deserves a lot more. I haven't finished it yet, but it's already quite memorable. It's very unlike most anime I've watched, and with a heartfelt message too.Glad you enjoyed this adorable and special series.
It almost wasnt given a chance here annd for a while you could lnly order it online directly.
Then they released that total joke of a boxset with the stacked disc..
Its criminal how they treated the release of this show.
What's In A Name? Award: Welldone the Pussyhand, Mardock Scramble is up there.
Did you watch Touka Gettan? It's a bit like that. Except it's not wacky chronologically, it's just almost staggeringly incoherent. And has more lesbianism.
It is deep and sad and subtle and it made me cry rivers of tears. Like Clannad.
Well obviously that one would include unlicensed stuff. Lack of Penguins is obviously infuriating.

So I never watched the first season. Should I bother at all?
That's kind of missing the point with that example. A better example would be none other than Persona 4 from last season. It reeks of being a lazy adaptation with noticeably bad animation which occasionally detracts from some scenes because of how poorly it's handled.I personally don't see any point dissecting a show like some do. All I find that leads do is focusing on the negative. Take Natsume S3 for example, I never noticed the "bad animation" many people have commented on. If I went back, which I won't, and looked I know I would see what people were talking about. Now, what I did notice was the better animation in season 4, episode 1. For me, knowledge of a shows flaws is not required to appreciate its strengths.
Sounds like we need an intervention. What's the worse that can happen if you revealed to your friends you still like anime?Ashamed to admit. It doesn't affect me much, but its annoying to hide it. But yeah, i can see it not being much of an issue as most people are geeks to a certain extent anyway
I blame the people who liked the DBZ music by Bruce...What I find fucken strange about the one piece dub is that they removed every trace of the amazing orchestral sound track, why fuck did they do that for? too good for baka gaijin ears?
I watch a lot of foreign films in order to maintain my image as a pretentious, pseudo-intellectual snob, so I've gotten pretty good at simultaneously eating & watching subtitled entertainments over the years.
::sips tea with pinky out::
The problem isn't the idea of taste, the problem is that anime journalism is a bad joke.
I really can't expect anything good from this after how bad the latter half of the series was.
................I just don't know what to say.Theron said:...but I ultimately pulled the trigger on Angel Beats! as my #1 because I found it to be the single most entertaining series that I watched in 2011. No other series had a better concept or put together a more satisfying mix of humor, action, music, character development, and emotion. It has some of the year's most gut-bustingly funny moments (rocket-powered student desks!), great insert songs with beautifully-animated performances, a generally high level of technical merit, and the classic Key touch at wringing out tear-jerking moments. Yeah, it is a little heavy-handed at times, but its final episode is also a sterling effort which embodies the desire for closure that lies at the core of the series. (Hmmm, that's four out of five with a “strong finish” comment. Coincidence?)
...
...Croisée in a Foreign Labyrinth fell a little short primarily because it never achieved much real substance. Tiger and Bunny looked like it has promise but I never kept up with it; same with the widely-praised Chihayafuru and Stein's Gate. And Wandering Son? I recognize that it's a quality series but did not find it entertaining or involving in the slightest.
Nah. The first half was actually fairly enjoyable but then it went to complete shit as they tried to add a serious plot.So I never watched the first season. Should I bother at all?
Nope. no closet otakuing here. I used to be, but then it kind of faded as time went on, really. Now everybody knows my love for jpop, animu, manga... though...You think just being into anime's bad? Wait till people get a whiff of VN from you. Even other nerds will start hating, there is no escape.
I thought nerds generally hung out with other nerds, like in clusters or swarms?
The first half of the show was fun, I don't care what others say.So I never watched the first season. Should I bother at all?

All the people I work and study with know about my hobbies. I am pretty sure they don't think highly of them, but it has never got into our relationship. My actual friends, on the other hand, share those interests and geek out with me.Is anyone else a closet otaku irl? I'm not ashamed of it as a hobby, but if my friends find out, i'm in for some societal consequences. And will probably labelled as "that guy" among my closeknit group of friends.
I need to find new friends.
There has to be nerd hierarchies.
Speaking of spock uniforms and other such nerd paraphernalia, this berzerkah costume is pretty cool.

And the impending Hosodapocalypse. It needs to be updated for the inclusion of bronies, admittedly.
You only deny this because you post in FurryGAF!Not that it was ever correct to begin with!
It clearly doesn't fully dig into the possibilities of the anime column to place categories like Manfaye or 40 year old men who ride the train with a lovepillow. You only deny this because you post in FurryGAF!

Actually some furries hate bronies too.Replace the spot for furries with bronies, put furries lower in the hierarchy, and it matches perfectly.
Where do "people who write geek hierarchy charts" fit on it?
shounen fans > Mecha fans > moé fans > cosplayers > moé fans who buy dakimakura > moé fans who buy dakimakura and ride the subway with them on full view > moé cosplayers > ManfayeIt clearly doesn't fully dig into the possibilities of the anime column to place categories like Manfaye or 40 year old men who ride the train with a lovepillow.
It's the exact same feeling I get when I read Game of the Year articles!................I just don't know what to say.
Obsessively long and detailed posts about random Japanese stuff. I like the mango reviews.
Oh shit, you're right. It's not a one-way chart! Most people don't notice that furries is on the same level as the low level of everything else according to that chart.
