anyone know where to get that soft pouch from the starter kit by itself?

edit: I saw that pouch at playasia and it goes for 25$ :(

OK, my list is set:

Pre-ordered:
- PS VITA wifi model;
- 8 GB memory card
- Hot Shots Golf
- Uncharted

Later on:
- FIFA Soccer
- Rayman Origins (would double dip)

Maybe, very maybe:
- Virtua Tennis 4
- Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom

This may be a retarded question, but why don't people get small (man)purses or nicely designed cases to hold the Vita? I'm sure you can find similar sized bags on various clothing sites.

Because if you put other things in the purse or bag it'll scratch up your Vita?

i've got a moderately cool "gaming bag" - big enough to carry x2 3DS (or x1 3DS x1 DS), x1 Vita, x1 PSP Go/PSP 3000, 32 3DS/DS games, 20 Vita game cards, Emergency USB charger, extra batteries etc.

Most things live in there so i can just grab it when i need to go anywhere.

16GB memory card is now available on amazon

I just want the 32GB to go up, have my console and games preordered and paid off with all my holiday credit.

I have no idea how this is going to work, exactly, but it seems like Treasures of Montezuma Blitz is going to be "free to play"

http://www.pocketgamer.co.uk/r/PS+Vita/Treasures+of+Montezuma+Blitz/news.asp?c=36534

Since it's a Match-3 game, I have no idea how that would be implemented. But interesting. I usually get sick of these things after a few levels anyway....

I wish Sony would spill it on the app store, because all signs indicate there will be something there on day one for the western launch.

I had to trim down my list since some things came up :\

Damn. We call those things duffle bags.

I throw my PSP (in its red neoprene sleeve), charger, and UMDs (which are in a very stylish zip lock bag) into my laptop case on the way out the door. I guess when the Vita arrives, I'll have to decide what to take.

What type of USB charger did you get? I've been thinking of an 11000mAh one I saw on amazon.

Sony Canada is useless and hasn't secured a wireless partner in time for launch. No huge loss considering what robelus charge for iPad plans.
It would be nice if that meant Canada got an unlocked 3G Vita like Hong Kong. I'm not too thrilled about the US model having AT&T but I'm getting it nonetheless.

My Preorder List so far:

PS Vita: First Edition Bundle $299.99
PS Vita Cradle : $19.99

Games:

Wipeout: $24.99
Modnation: $24.99
Hot Shots Golf: $24.99

Since I don't know if those games will ship for early launch I'll probably grab something in store on that date. Maybe Uncharted, maybe MvC3U.

??

Other than the memory card I don't feel anything's a rip-off really.
Geeze no...

My Atari Lynx with an AC Adapter and California games cost me $249 on launch in 1989 (that's the equivalent of $439 today). I paid $299 for my TurboExpress in 1990 (modern equivalent $493) and that system came with only a lanyard and six AA batteries that lasted all of three hours play... I forget how much my Nomad was, but it wasn't cheap... I don't see how anyone could think a handheld that's this powerful is NOT worth the price that Sony's asking and more!

My current Vita preorder (paid off) includes the Vita early launch bundle with Li'l Deviants, memcard and case, Uncharted, Wipeout 2048, UMvC3, Gravity Daze, Army Corps of Hell, and I've put $50 in my PSN account for download only games... I fully expect to pick up Little Big Planet, Unit 13, Hot Shots Golf and a 32GB memory card in the first few weeks as well. I'm hyped for this... I want I want I want I want I want

3G Vita
32GB Card
Lumines
Of all the launch games, I think I'm upset about Lumines' suggested price the most. It really showcases market unfamiliarity on Ubi's part. It's a puzzle game, and a straightforward block-dropper at that, they should treat it like one.

I'm thinking

PSVita Wifi
8GB memory card
Rayman Origins
Uncharted: Golden Abyss
+ a couple of PSN games

for launch

I'm going

Vita (wifi)
32gb card
A docking station (if its available)
Uncharted

I want the 3G one, but I know I won't pay another $15-20 for another data plan.

Vita(Wifi)
16 gig card(anything less than 16 just doesn't make sense to me given that I will be purchasing a lot of digital content and transferring over my PSP content)

And that's it, save for some smaller PSN content that might catch my eye. I have a ton of content on my PSP since I started going digital prior to the PSPgo. There are a decent number of games that I haven't completed yet (MotorStorm being one that I've been working on for some time) and it will keep me more than busy enough until I can afford to then start purchasing vita games proper.

I was planning on picking up the 32GB card (importing if necessary), but I'm probably going to revise that to the 16GB now on the assumption that the PSN pricing won't be that great and that I'll pick up retail games most f the time.

So I guess I'm looking at:

Vita 3G (£280)
16GB memory card (£40)
Wipeout 2048 (£30)
Little Deviants (£18)
Everybody's Golf (£30)

£400. :'(

More I want, but that'll do for starters. I'll also need a sturdy case, but I need to do some research on that. :/

Of all the launch games, I think I'm upset about Lumines' suggested price the most. It really showcases market unfamiliarity on Ubi's part. It's a puzzle game, and a straightforward block-dropper at that, they should treat it like one.
Assuming the music is all licensed again, that's going to add to the cost of development. From a value point of view, I have no issue with Lumines being £30.

For me it's

Wifi Vita
32gb memory card (hopefully I can score one)
Pouch (Not a fan of zipper cases and the clamshell design that Logitech had for the PSP probably would screw over the back touch)
Screen protector (Hopefully Hori makes them since I typically get their brand)
Uncharted (Just cause it's Uncharted)

If I got 3G it'd solely be for the GPS, though I'll wait to see how it goes since I'll probably get a second one anyways when a better color comes along. I also have a ton of PSN cards to use so I'll probably get a few digital games. Most likely Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3.

Great Vita review on GameRevolution:
Viva la Vita

But sticking just Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and Little Deviants on a 4GB card filled it - that's two games. Simple, rough math says that you can fit 16 games on a 32GB card, the largest card offered for the Vita. And it costs $100 or more. That’s a hefty premium to have digital games.

Worth noting.

I see things going one of two ways for the PlayStation Vita, with little room in-between. It’s either going to succumb to smartphones as pundits are too quick to predict and never really take off, or it’s going to go for the complete surprise and become the new Game Boy, maybe even the Walkman of the 21st century that Sony hoped the PSP would be. It’s that good, but the competition is also that fierce.

It may succeed, but it will be no Game Boy.

Vita games really need to trim down their size to a couple of hundred megs. It's a similar situation to the iPhone and iPad, where it becomes a problem when games gobble up storage space.

Alternatively, it would be interesting if games could offer themselves in chapters, so you can have chapter packs installed as optional modules. I wish PC games (on Steam) would do this so that I could start playing after 1GB of downloads instead of 6GB.

I ordered some little colored Vita game cases for like $2 on Dealextreme, I'll report back on the quality etc. when I get them.

Because that's likely. No way will they manage to make console quality games (which is hwat they want) within 200mb

A couple of hundred megs? Ha.

I'm still kind of hesitant to even pick up a 32gb card. Doesn't seem like enough. I'm considering the wait for a 64gb card in the future but that could be over a year away.

You do realise that's impossible to achieve if devs actually want to take advantage of the hardware and with a decent amount of content, right? At Vita level graphics and audio, you'd be lucky to fit a single level within "a couple of hundred megs".

This isn't a bad idea, actually. Have the engine and common data download first, then send the rest of the content over in discrete self contained packets that can run without the others, allowing the player to tackle chapters/levels as soon as their done. Of course such a thing would only work for linear level based games.

Admitted Gametap did something similar back in the day though their model was based on streaming temporary data instead of downloading the whole game. Seemed pretty cool, they launched way too early to find success. If they launched now they would have done much better.

Day and date, you reckon? Was that something Sony was bandying around? Sorry again if this has all been mentioned. Just getting cards sorted for the great NA release date.

If I recall Correctly, it was date to date.

Japan PSN all the games was on PSN upon launch.

Retail games can be any size they want. Flash Memory prices are too high(even if Sony charged normal prices for them) to make DD only possible with the Vita. The Vita would need at least 256gb cards to make that even realistic.

Download only games will probably easily be in the couple hundred mb range for the most part.

F yeah! Amazon updated.

I have:
16gb
Wifi vita
Uncha
Wipeout
Shinobido
Ninja gaiden
Ridge racer
Army corpse of hell

I think I need to cancel some. I really want lumines too.

Wifi Vita-$249.99
32 GB Card-$99.99
Case-$29.99
Cradle-$19.99
Uncharted-$49.99
MVC3-$39.99
Hot Shots-$29.99
Wipeout-$29.99
PSN-?

$-550?

Traded my psp and games like 8 months ago to pay off my vita, and used store credit for all the games but Uncharted. I'm pretty hyped but feel like I may be going overboard.

Nothing says you have to store all that digital content on your memory card at all times. How many games do you realistically need access to on a daily basis. 16-32gb should be sufficient for plenty of variety.
