But if the new me has no idea that the old me died, then there's really no harm in it. From the perspective of my sentience, I would leave one destination and carry on in the other. My brain patterns, thought patterns and so forth would continue as they did. I would be no worse for wear.

You can teach yourself and you're definitely not too old to start. You do it because you want to, it just sounds like you just don't want to.

I've learned a whole lot of instruments but for some reason guitars just seem foreign to me. I can pseudo play a drum set, keyboard instruments like marimbas, xylophones, a bit of piano and even the bassoon! But I can't play guitar

I think it was the Theseus dilemma or something. Your greatgrandfather has a beuatiful sword, gives it to your grandfather.... he replaces the blade because the old one was crap... he gives it to your father, he replaces the bottom part (forgot the english name) and gives it to you as an heirloom... is it still the same sword?

The same goes for yourself. Doesn't have to be a transporter... I think all of your cells have been replaced by now (since you were a kid)... are you still the same person?

This I did not know. The books I read credited that experiment to Parfit [post star trek] - its not old at all. And it's related to something else, personal identity. The human mind and all that jazz in philosophy...

ShockingAlberto- Yep. It's a battle of attrition more than anything because you are constantly learning for years and years, and it's easy to fall into a rut or hit a wall where you don't feel like you are progressing. It's quite the commitment, but if you stick with it, it will reward you.

Nah, imgur is just not recommended ("banned") for posting high-res PC pictures because of the compression it uses.
