It was all part of her dirty plan to make us purchase more XSEED games! Now I shall burn all my XSEED games in protest! Ahhh!

If that plan has everyone buying and playing Trails in the Sky, then she truly is a force for good.

Also, there needs to be more old school PC games represented up in this thread. Eye of the Beholder is boss.

Ultima, Might and Magic... Way better than those console 2d RPGs.

I only ever played FF6 but I really enjoyed it. 7 Was too weird for me and after that it was hard for me to put time into Rpg's. Growing up I was really into Dragon Warrior. *hides*

The bane of my existence.

I played Eye of the Beholder on SNES.

Wait, I can't burn my XSEED game. It's digital!

Now I'm really curious about Trails in the Sky....

I never finished it. I bought it thinking it was the same game as I played at an arcade in a Discovery Zone in New York (might have been a Chuck E Cheese?), a sidescrolling beat 'em up with wizards and warriors that I still haven't discovered the name of. But the "eye" on the cover of Eye of the Beholder resembled a boss from this game. The only real detail I remember was being able to turn enemies into pigs and maybe frogs by tossing magic powder at them.

Just fought that ball of corpses boss in Symphony of the Night. A bit unnerving, that thing.

Ha. My favorite boss in a Castlevania game... at the time I played, I felt it was one of the most simply and easiest boss battles but was so taken aback with the little details and sounds.

My first PC game:

Never played it without god mode.

Man, I rediscovered this last year thanks to Skulltag. Hardware accelerated Doom with proper mouselook is the greatest thing ever. Blasted right through Doom 1 and 2 - best FPS experience I've had in years.

Never been able to finish any Doom game. Motion sickness galore. I think you can plot out a linear relationship between gameplay time and headache time. Like 15 minutes playing = 6 hours of vomit inducing migraine powered vertigo.

I think it's got something to do with the floor and wall patterns. They mess with my head.

I get sick from a lot of FPS games unfortunately. Have never been able to finish Half Life 1 either.

My first PC game:

Ohhh, first PC games? All my first games were on PC way before I ever got a console, so it's hard to remember exactly... (my father got our first computer a few months before I was born, so I sort of grew up playing them...) But the first game I remember COMPLETING is King's Quest V.

Oh yes.

Where can I find this?

As far as first PC game it's either Pac-Man for the Commodore 64, or Warcraft for Win95 ( if you don't count the Commodore as a pc)

My actual first PC games are MSDOS games but I couldn't for the life of me remember them. Doom was the first game I played for long periods of time. When I got my first PC, I played an immense amount of Command & Conquer Red Alert. Then I went to a dark period for a while (I went console).

If only I knew what keikaku meant!

I own no XSEED games :(

What?! None? Not even Half-Minute Hero, Shadow Hearts, Fragile, Little King's Story, Trails...NONE?! I am sad. So very sad.

:) Many seem to have liked it, others think it's too wordy/slow paced. It has Olivier Lenheim, though, and that should be enough. ^_-

Well, why the fuck not.

I like your saucy attitude, sir.

Haha, I've just gone back to PC gaming this year (how can anyone say no to Steam?) catching up on everything I missed. Fortunately there are a lot of older titles I can play now even with my crappy computer, but eventually I want to get a real gaming PC.

You need the original Doom WAD files.

Then download either:

GZDoom or Skulltag. GZDoom has more options and is better for single player IMO. Skulltag is based on an older version of GZDoom but has more extensive multiplayer options.

Aside from the additional options it's actually by far the easiest way to play Doom on a modern OS. Works with Heretic and Hexen too.

Hmm, the first PC game I remember playing was some Disney game on an old floppy disk -- the kind that was actually floppy -- it was some platformer thing, jumping around with Goofy, I never could get passed the first level.

I had a 360/Wii combo for a while. The game that finally brought me back to PC is Team Fortress 2. I bought the Orange Box for the 360 and despite the massive shortcomings, I loved TF2. When I finally got a taste of steam and TF2 on PC, I was hooked. Sold my 360, my wii is collecting dust. Now I'm an avid PC gamer, eventually with a ps3 to enjoy some indie games.

I want to post this from a fellow Gaffer, ghst. He posted this in some thread claiming PC is dying. It was such a beautiful post in response, I had to save it.

ghst said:
It’s not, we live in a fingerless mitten society and pc gaming is now something of a technology counter culture, a rebuttal to the endless mass market drive for reduced complexity at the expense of functionality. It’s a hobbyist pursuit that through its idiosyncratic virtues, has not only sustained itself through the slings and arrows of multi generational console war, but began a spearheading resurgence right at the time that Kotakus of this world wrote it off for dead. Now it is again at the vanguard of the industry in every sense, while consoles are only becoming more conservative in their attempts to smear their singular branding across as many demographics as possible.

At a time when anyone with the slightest insight is aware of the gouging, sniping, depressing toilet bowl that the console market has become, people are seeking out pc gaming to rekindle their optimism and sense of adventure.

That was then. This is now. PC gaming is dying.

brb gonna play Dawn of War 2

My first PC game was a puzzle slideshow in Windows. Next was Stellar 7 or Dune II, can't remember. Maybe even Minesweeper.

Totally looks like an RP-GAFer.

I have played a Lands of Lore game, but can't remember the name.

This was my first and only LoL game. I adored it and spent many a blissful summer afternoon playing it. It was the first computer game I'd ever seen that had live action cinematics incorporated into it. It was cheesy and silly, and amazing. To this day I've never met another person that's even heard of it, though. :P

Didn't get a PC until 1995 but I was always a computer gamer. My first computer was a Dragon 32 which, if you're from the US, was a clone of the Radioshack CoCo. Frst game I ever played was 'Cosmic Invaders' . I think you can guess what game that was a clone of.

.

Nope, I heard Shadow Hearts is a good game. When it came out I was interested in it, but being 15/16 with no money didn't help........And the rest of the games I've never heard about. Well now I'm hearing about Trails being so good in this thread so maybe I'll check it....Damn marketing tactics!

Lands of Lore III... That's the one I played. No wonder I couldn't remember the name. What a silly fun game.

Wow thank you, this is the copy I have, hopefully it works with it.

Yeah, it doesn't matter where you get the files from, just copy the wads somewhere and point the software at it. You'll need to fiddle with the options a bit once it's running to get it to play the way you want but it's all fairly self explanatory. If you use mouselook make sure to turn on 3d floors otherwise the perspective gets really screwy, lol.

Alright, I gave it a shot. I don't think there are any duplicates or non RP avatars but I could be wrong.
Thats awesome!!! Yeah theres a pic of Bruce Campbell on the bottom left ;)
