Nisemonogatari 1 - Good stuff; although a tad awkward and somewhat shameless to watch. I loved seeing all the cast from bakemonogatari again though, it was like a family reunion!

The dialogue in this episode was not good. It was, in fact, bad and this wasn't helped by the subtitles not matching up to the audio on my DVD. It's pretty clear that no one bothered to watch through this episode to check that it was all synchronised up. Ah well.

While most of your criticisms of Noein's dialogue are valid (too much "QUANTUM POTENTIAL! QUANTUM POTENTIAL! LET ME RECAP PARALLEL WORLDS AND OBSERVERS AGAIN!") I would be wary of criticising the dialogue too much based on Manga's DVD release as the translation is not brilliant anyway. It's not bad, but there's an error in one of the very first episodes that gets a point about Yuu's character wrong
they translate his mother as saying that he's studying to get into Tokyo University, which is not the point at all - Yuu is studying to get into a normal school in Tokyo, which is why this summer is such a crucial one for him because he's going to leave Hakodate and his friends at the end of it
and a few other irritating choices in the translation.

Given that you've made it this far into the show without appearing to like it that much, are there elements of it you are enjoying?

Well, to be fair (wait, what?) there were three before.
Although one of them is just a depowered vampire queen.

As we all know, depowered vampire queens become lolis.

That's just how the Bakemonogatari universe works. I wouldn't want to doubt them, they've got lots of puns and words and stuff.

[The anime adaptaptation of] Mirai Nikki was too terrible for me to make it past the 2nd episode. Sorry Unknown Soldier. :(

Have you read the manga? The anime is pretty much exactly the manga animated. If you didn't like the manga, then you won't like the anime. If you liked the manga and didn't like the anime, then I'm really not sure what to tell you because the adaptation is so faithful.

See Dance in the Vampire Bund for more information. Also a poorly-animated SHAFT show, which is probably not coincidental.

Nisemonogatari is a awesome show for awesome people. Watching the first episode confirmed that fact. Awesomeness.
Fixed.
Michiko to Hatchin 1

Well it definitely has style. I'm always up for a Mexican Cinderella story with guns and tits.

The show has a lot of style and is well-made but it's so damn uninteresting to watch for me personally. I should give it a another chance maybe.

Pirate

Well absolutely nothing happen in the first episode, it is a good thing this is a 24 episode shows. Will watch 2 more before judging.

Enough with the talk on terrible shows like Eva (why would any sane person marathon that show?), it's real talk time.

Sailor Moon 35

Wow. That was some Serious Business™, I like the fun, wacky antics that Sailor Moon provides, the kind that makes me feel like a 12 year old girl but it was really awesome to see the show take itself seriously from the start to the end of this episode. There was a TON going on in this episode, maybe more so than any other episode up to this point.

The second opening to the show finally makes total sense now, it was certainly a bit odd when they first debuted it a while back.
Serenity has some ridiculous powers, too bad she doesn’t really have full control of them yet.

Gotta say I feel bad for Rei, there was a brief moment where she realized that her dream of
husbando Mamoru is now completely dead. How could she possibly compete against DESTINY, with Mamoru and Usagi. Or is it Endymion and Serentiy. Whatever.

Queen Beryl might honestly be the worst queen ever. When you are already on the losing end of battles it really makes no god damn sense
to decide to kill one of your stronger soldiers just because you’re salty, especially when said warrior is lovers with another one of your strongest soldiers.
At least that scene provided one of the more Truly fabulous stuff.

The show suddenly gave me a headache, like I was watching Noein all over again.
All that talk about 2D / 3D makes my head hurt unless we’re talking about waifus.
It certainly drove home the point everybody other than Ami is an idiot.

And speaking of other shows I felt like I was watching Fate/Zero episode 1-2 all over again. That was some crazy info dump Luna provided all over my screen. I think I got the gist of it but that was a ton of information at once to digest.

The highlight of the episode was definitely the firehawk12 moment. Where Rei decides to
slap some sense into Usagi and then proceed to chew her out with all kinds of name calling and insults.

Then there was Kunzite. He might have been mad. The way he
soloed all the other girls with basically no effort was boss.
But of course he can’t be too much of a boss,
Serenity decides its time for some untz untz untz, and busts out the grooviest light show ever with her silver crystal pogo stick.

But of course the one big mystery from this episode is just exactly what happened
to poor old Tuxedo Mask? Is he dead? Is he being molested by an old raggedy queen? Has he turned to the darkside?
There is only one way to find out of course.

I'd want to add that Ikuto Yamashita has been always an extremely important participant in the Neon Genesis Evangelion project. And I suppose those unfamiliar with his work don't know of his scrapped proposal for the conclusion of said project:

IIRC, it was implied that the cat ghost was too strong a presence to exorcise like all the other afflictions, because it was something Hanekawa had to deal with for a long time so not all hope is lost.

A story so good it couldn't be told in any fewer episodes.

Durarara 04
The Irish folklore character is named Celty Sturluson? I...I don't even know what to say.

How is the animation in Nisemonogatari? Like, is it passable, or 'don't bother, wait for the BD'?

I will always love you, werewolf Asuka.

Not sure if they've reached that point in the animu, but in the Future Diary manga,
the girl does exactly that, but drugs him as well while keeping him chained to a chair.
I'm pretty sure that shit's going down in the next ep.

Also Senjou >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Yuno

i brought 5 ccs discs with me so i'll start marathoning it tonight after the games.
Prepare to hhhnnnnnngggggghhhhh like never before.

What animation there is, is fine.

There's not much of it to speak of though.

Much weaker than the first episode of the first season. I guess Takeuchi is too busy with the movie to worry himself with silly TV shows.

The return of Akiyuki Slideshow!
Makes me wonder what the hell they're going to put out for the movie, with people paying money to see the initial release.
I was informed by Jexhius that the version of episode 9 [of Bakemonogatari] I watched was actually worse because of animation added to the BD release.
Huh? What's the story there?
I only saw the BD version.
Im going to die by disc three arent i?I
konyanyachiwaaaaaaa~~~~!

[Baby, kill me please ep. 01]

I like it. *hides*

[Bakemonogatari ep. 01 - 08]

I like it, too. Funny thing is, I don't even know why I like it. It might be that it's wacky, or maybe because of the art, or maybe because it it feels like Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei if it actually had a plot.

[Nisemonogatari ep. 01]

I have the courage to keep on watching past the first ep.

[Symphogear]

Looks like a poor man's Modoka Magica to me, but I'll continue watching it to see how much more grimdark it will get. Though if the first episode is so average production wise I dread to see how it'll look once they run out of their "budget."

why doesnt somebody license Sailor Moon as a boxset again so I can blow money on it? Dont they like money?

Funimation wants it bad. Licensing is some sort of nightmare akin to resolving problems in North Korea, or something equally complex.

*looks up at kero-chan*

Damn, now I want to watch CCS.

I see the GOTY thread extended their deadline. Is there any vehement objection to doing the same for the anime voting thread, by about another week or so, to give people more time to catch up on last year's shows? Since I'm seeing lots of posts implying people are doing just that right now.
