Trying to keep up with the new season after watching two Ikuhara shows in the past six months is turning up to be a depressing experience. Whatever you may believe about Penguindrum's pacing issues it sure had a knack for interesting visual composition.

Nisemonogatari is the only thing that comes close to such ambitiousness, but its premise and verbiage are so obstrusive I can only shake my head in disgust towards it.

CG rotoscope is actually really common these days. Ufotable uses it all the time. For this scene in Kara no Kyoukai, for example, all the animation was done with CG models and then they had the artists draw over the models so that it would look 2D.

Oh man, this fight choreography... it's awful.

One episode in, and I am ready to say that Nise > Pendrum!

There's nothing ambitious about anything SHAFT does other than trying to find creative ways to hide the fact that the show has literally no budget whatsoever.

To be fair, when a show doesn't try to hide that, you get Persona 4.

Ambitiously pedo, right?

After how successful Bakemonogatari was I cannot attribute Nisemonogatari's visual fuckfest to a low budget. Besides, they are obviously writing some metacommentary about anime fans and their unhealthy obsessions while selling it the shameless motherfuckers themselves. That's a commendable effort.

You look so cute when you are all contrarian and shit. <3

Saint Seiya 46-48

Gotta say, I'm disappointed in the Gold Saints so far. They've barely done anything to set themselves apart from the Silver Saints and it doesn't seem like any of them have even shown their full power. I mean Deathmask is cool, but I don't want to keep seeing them give out wins without really putting in the effort.

Wandering Son 01

Classy.

For all the hot-blooded, crazy stuff I tend to watch, Wandering Son is about as understated a show as I've seen. There's conflict, but things feel pretty peaceful.

I like it. It takes its time, but it doesn't waste time. I'm curious to see how events develop.

It feels like a similar kind of show to Usagi Drop. I wonder if that'll remain true.

Yeah, the fights against the Gold Saints start picking up with Leo. Keep up with it.
Who's a good boy? You are, you are!

haly: Ikuhara still had that hair when he gave some lectures in China not too long ago and in the photos that came out when MPD started.

I thought it was just a thing he went through, from what you said.

Completely misread it.

Hunter x Hunter (2011) 3:
"His arms seem to have turned into flower petals"...wtf... Outside of that and new Killua's voice, I'm enjoying the current version of the series. I had forgotten just how hilarious Hanzo could be, and it was nice to see Tonpa's antics again. Madhouse has been doing a solid job with this version of the series so far.

HxH R 14

I still can't get over how colourful this looks compared to the original series. Oh well, the Tag Hunt has begun so we'll see how well the remake handles it.

THE IDORUM@STER 21:

One supposes that Kotori has fans too, so they squeezed in some time for her as well this episode after and during the tying up of some loose ends from the last episode. The main arc of the show is now over. I guess we're heading on to the denouement phase at this point.
Hell yes. I wish she got more screen time. :(

Well, at least the AKG K701's are a good pair of headphones. (personally rockin' the AT AD900's here)

Utena 25

Holy fabulous of all things born fabulous on this earth.

This is incredible.
Yeah, that episode completely blew my mind. I literally shouted out holy shit when the new ED kicked in.

Yup, still rocking the awesome hair.

I just finished watching this week's My Little Pony and it was better than anything else that has aired this season.

Well, you haven't watched ZnT F yet! So get to it!

PonyGAF and AnimeGAF are two sides of the same coin, really.

They're really not. A few traitors people are members of both, besides that there is just about no overlap whatsoever in posters, and I think both factions would prefer to keep it that way. Most of us don't go and bother the Ponies, and most of them don't come and bother us.

I'm okay!

Neon Genisis Evangelion - 20

I... I.... think I just had an epileptic acid trip of scenes I've already seen before, maybe I'm not okay.

Steroyd, take a break. At least 12 hours in which watching Evangelion is not on the agenda. If not for you, than for the people who care about you.

Fun fact: very, very few episodes of shows aired on Adult Swim have ever been given a "TV-MA-S" rating. This is one of them.
