So how bloody are the tires on Lovie's bus by now, anyway? Detroit got a lot of shit for how long Millen stuck around this organization, I find it so bizarre in Chicago that he seems to get his staff thrown out of town every couple of years, even lost his GM now, but somehow he still stays. I'm not trying to troll, I really would like to understand the reasoning behind him apparently being impervious to firing.

It gets rough down south for college games, but night games in Louisiana are especially notable for their terribleness. Part of that unique culture that cajunator talks about, where they throw bags of piss at each other

Yup, I've always believed having some ties to the area is important. Doesn't mean you have to live across the street from Lambeau but some ties, whether it be familial or birth place or what have you, are important, imo. If you guys don't feel that way, hey that's cool.

I'll admit I'm a Lakers LL'er. I picked them up when they got Kobe and became a huge bandwagon fan. Not proud of myself for it at all. Sometimes I even feel embarrassed.

It's funny how whenever a team starts doing REALLY well, like title contenders year in and year out, you see all these fans pop up. The Miami Heat are a good example. Back in the 2007-2008 season, just a few years ago, the Heat finished with the worst record in the league. I wish I knew about GAF back then because I doubt the NBA thread had nearly as many Heat avatars floating around. And then when LeBron took his talents to South Beach, forget about it, it was like a tidal wave of LLers engulfing the Internet.

Lovie is a survival. You have to give him credit. Last time when they changed OC , he took the team to NFC championship game. Maybe , the are hoping for the same thing.

But if you look at the talent pool. You can make a case that lovie gets most out of his team. With horrible drafting and FA due to crappy GM. Lovie still gets his team to compete . The fact he took that team to NFC championship game and #1 seed with that talent was pretty amazing, horrible OL and WR.

He did the same last time. Fired his OC and next year took the team to playoffs.

I dont believe it, the national media told me that only people born in Philadelphia do bad things. I am pretty sure it is all hugs and kisses for opposing fans in other cities. I missed it earlier but what do you think about the Rams letting JMD go?

there's no reason. guy should have been fired, he's not a particularly good head coach. but apparently virginia mccaskey loves him so he gets a free pass year after year.

Back from the bar! As plinko pointed out repeatedly, our secondary is woeful. Delmas and Houston can stay. Maybe smith too. Staffod played well, with two turrible errors. Cannot wait to see leshoure run next year. We were in the playoffs and it was damn glorious for a half!

GG saints-gaf. Due to contractual obligations with a lady friend I shall be on your side the remainder of the playoffs.

Sports are entertainment. People are more entertained when they feel like they're associated with winning. They get to pretend like they have some sort of connection to a team and it makes them feel better. If it helps people get through their day, then whatever.

I don't bother shitting on anybody's perceived fandom, or the reasons they bring to the table for feeling that way. Sports are here as an escape and as a common thread that gets people talking to each other.

Anyhoo, the first couple of games I've seen have been pretty good. The very first one I saw was the Arizona cardinals game where they came back from behind to win againt the 49ers. I also watched the 2009 superbowl with the Arizona cardinals where they lost by a whisker, and that big dude from the other side caught the ball in his own end zone and ran all the way to the other end and had to get an oxygen mask afterwards. Larry Fitzgerald seems to be a very good player. He hardly got the ball at all in that superbowl game, but when he did he was off like a scalded cat, and got 2 or 3 touchdowns.

It seems this is a fairly interesting time to be getting into the sport, since it's the last 16 knockout stage before the superbowl, as far as I can tell.

So anyway, /subscribed to this thread, hopefully this initial interest I have here will stick with me as it seems a sport with a huge amount of depth to it, probably not something you could get bored of in a hurry.

Right, but it wasn't a jersey, it was regular clothes in Suns colors. No logos, emblems, writing, etc. Not something they sell. I've also seen stars come to games without wearing anything resembling the team so I doubt he'd wear it just because the Suns office would like him to. Not saying he is, just wanted to see if PantherGAF had any insight.

Cool. Not that I disagree, but how do you know where everyone lives? or has lived? or where their family is from? Are these talents derived from your Grand Rapids Michigan birth certificate?

I certainly won't hold it against NOLA. Had a good time when I was down there in past years. But that is the sentiment people love to ascribe to the city of Detroit, sadly.

I've never been to Detroit but all the Lions fans sitting near me tonight were from Detroit and they were very friendly. They were all enjoying their trip too. A few of them were enjoying it so much that they took a few more days off of work and stayed here all week (they were in for the Sugar Bowl). I feel bad for the guy that got a bottle thrown at him but something similar happens to at least one person at almost every NFL game.

I didn't really want him back, but could have been talked in to it. Fisher's people have said he wouldn't want him if he ends up there, and I imagine any alternative will be an offensive coach. So there was no point in keeping him around, especially if he didn't want to be there

But the owner forced McD on Spags, and has a Patriots fetish in general, so they may have kept him around in hopes he and Fisher could work together. Or, and this seems most likely, they just wanted to make sure whoever hired him picked up the entirety of his remaining contract

Glad to hear that you received them well too (for the most part anyway, I won't fault a random incident like that). I think the sport is better when people take it in good fun. It is a game in the end, after all.

Yea. I don't see any reason to say he's bad(other than maybe needing to punch Martz in the nuts when he wasn't balaced), but I just had to wonder how he's manages to stick while everyone around him crumbles.

I hope things work out for Bradford, he seems like a nice enough guy that has had to deal with a lot. I worry that Fisher has never been a QB friendly coach, even when they had Mcnair the offense was slam Eddie George into the line on 1st and 2nd down and then have Steve bail them out on 3rd down. I hope he is smart enough to turn the offense over to some one else.
