So what exactly does "kugiloli" mean, GAF? google gives me jack

Do you know what's worse then that?

gafsearch.jpg

That's right. If you google "kugiloli" we're the first and the second link (not to mention the 8th link). Also the third link links right back to GAF as well.

I can firmly say that this is all jman2050's doing.

We're growing rather infamous. XD

The first chunk of links is from neogaf.com and the second is from neogaf.net.

If google didn't group links like that we'd probably hold spots 1-1000, at least.

"Do you really want to start a conversation where people rate the kugilolis in this thread?" lol.

I will take a stab in the dark and say that quote is from Unknown Soldier

Yeah, it requires attention right from the top of the first episode. I dig that about it, though; it's demanding, and definitely a different speed from most anime.

Well, when you're done, I'd be interested in reading your impressions. AFAIK only Jex and I have seen it through (?).

7th has seen it as well. I'm probably the only person who watched the whole thing then, immediately upon finishing, rewatched the whole thing again. I did that for Utena as well, so that I could watch it with someone else.

Well if we just narrow it down to Neogaf:

At least 19 pages on google!

The question here is, did we invent the term 'kugiloli'? If we did, and therefore nobody else on the Internet uses it, it stands to reason that we dominate the Google results.
Probably more due to a giant thread on a high-traffic gaming forum garnering more views than the usual hole in the wall anime blog. No inventing or anything like that.

Yea since Star Driver and Guilty Crown (it seems) massively failed on that front.

That Nami thing was somewhat temporary and had a specific purpose though.

If its the same place i'm thinking that ended up being a non event

yeah same place(sky), it's the thought that counts :p

pirates are people to you know, stealing is still stealing but I get what your saying but nami does go on to steal treasure from whisky peak.

What you're trying to say is we skewer the results by being associated with NeoGAF are leaders in anime discussion. The key players in the field of abusing search rankings kugiloli. Perhaps not the most respected of positions.

Kugiloli has broken time.

I watched Mouryou no Hako twice. It was terrible both times. I guess I'm too stupid to get why it's supposed to be considered good or something.

Well Branduil can be proud and not proud about this.

Yea i will give them a grade for effort at least.

Kill Me Baby 1 - This is about on par with the quality, and content, of the manga.

That is, it's pretty mediocre. In either manga or anime, this is a pretty bland series. Sure, once in a while something is funny -- for instance in this episode the ninja girl, most notably, is pretty amusing -- but overall, it's nothing special to say the least.

Given that the manga is pretty much the same though, I guess it about meets with my expectations. I'll probably watch a bit more of this at least, I guess.

Tantei Opera Milky Holmes II 1 - Milky Holmes is back! It was nice to see that it got a second season, and it's off to a decently good start. First though, this is very much a sequel -- DEFINITELY watch the first season first, this picks up right where the last one left off and doesn't explain anything about what happened last season.

Anyway, in this episode, the girls of Milky Holmes have forgotten all about their detective selves and have instead become farmers, growing vegetables in a plot of land near the school. They're also going to stores to get food leftovers, doing odd jobs, etc, to try to raise money. Henriette/Arsene is, of course, quite unhappy about this, and her and her minions try repeatedly to force Milky Holmes to become detectives again, to little avail.

Meanwhile, the four police girls are promoting an upcoming detective festival. The main one's not too thrilled about this, or her silly costume. :)

Finally the villain's underlings hit upon a plan that sort of works, which sets off a battle between them and Milky Holmes. The imagery here, with the girls as dark shadowy figures terrifying the three villain guys, was good stuff.

In the end... well, they may or may not be on the path towards being detectives again. We'll see next episode, this plotline isn't over yet. Overall this was a solid episode, with some decently funny humor and silliness. As entertaining as them as farmers was though, I hope they remember their true selves soon though, they are supposed to be detectives after all.

Why would you watch something you thought was terrible twice over? Once I can understand, but twice?

Watched it the first time, didn't think much of it. After reading some positive things about it I decided to try watching it again to see what people were talking about. I still don't know.

Do Luffy and crew actually plunder other ships, pillage treasure, and rape port towns?

One Piece is weird when it comes to pirating because the Strawhat pirates are "good" but are outside the law (every other pirate in the One Piece universe are bad naughty people), and everytime they steal something they were going to be given the treasure anyway by whatever village they saved.

Aw man i'm jonesing for some cute right now.

dot dot dot

I did have to rewatch a few episodes because I was too dumb & slow to keep up the first time, or something, but not the whole thing after finishing. That's pretty impressive.
I doubt very much that's the case. It's not like you could be faulted for not keeping up. The show isn't exactly easy to understand even if you are attentive.

Consider the very first scene in the anime:
We see the writer (although of course we don't yet know that he's a writer) waking up on the train, think about his grandmother and then witnessing the spectacle of the man with the head in the box. Cue the opening credits. From this we might expect that this writer character witnessed this disturbing scene with his own eyes.

However, it never actually happened like that. Just before we get to the credits it says "Authored by Kobu Kouki - The Women in the Box". What's actually onscreen is simply the result of the writer reading through the manuscripts written by the serial killer and imagining what that scene would look like. For some reason the writer has pictured himself in the inhabiting the space of the serial killer. Of course, at the start of the series NONE of this has even happened yet, which means that this scene is completely out of order, chronologically speaking. This only becomes clear when we actually get the real train scene later on (through a flashback, of course).

Magical Girl Nanoha A's - 04

I never noticed before but Nanoha is like a mecha anime in the shape of moe magical girls.
A's? Best season of the show for sure!

But yes, the whole point of the Nanoha series was to have a magical girl anime with fights the quality of stuff from shonen stuff like mecha. The show was more designed for male anime fans than anything else. That makes sense when you look up where the franchise came from, though... Nanoha actually first appeared as a minor character in the adult VN Triangle Heart 3 (the little sister of one of the major girls, I believe, I haven't played or watched the anime spinoffs of anything in the Triangle Heart franchise). The Nanoha franchise is an alternate universe from that though, I'm pretty sure, and quickly far surpassed its popularity, but it explains why the show was made the way it was and not like a normal magical girl show for little girls, it isn't one. It's "magical girls with serious action scenes".

Anyway, A's was great, but it's really too bad that StrikerS isn't nearly as good. It's okay, but could have been so much better... and the mangas are mixed quality too. There is an A's movie coming up sometime this year though, sequel to the first season movie that released in 2010, so I am looking forward to that.

Pretty much. It's fake magical girl.
Fake? Well, sort of, but I wouldn't use the word. It's a magical girl shonen action show, I guess?

Nanoha and Nanoha A's are both amazing, with A's being the superior series by far. It's a shame there was never a third season, but at least they didn't make some shitty show which tarnished everything the show stood for and shoved everyone to the side in order to focus on some shitty kids no one cared about. That would have been awful.

:lol

That show had a couple of decent moments, but yeah, far, FAR too much of it was exactly as you describe. And going by the mangas they've made since, they haven't exactly entirely learned their lesson about why that was wrong, somehow...

Yes, Yes it would...

Fairy Tail 41

Finally, Erza's backstory arc is over.
And, it looks like it will start up my favorite arc in idea and set up. Just not really execution.

Just now? I've been saying this from day one!

Look at it this way, if they did make a third season like that at least they'd leave themselves an outside shot of salvaging it as a movie.

That would be almost as bad as them making a sequel to Darker than Black where Hei becomes a side character, they make Mao a cutesy squirrel for some reason, and they make the main character a boring loli.

Thank goodness Japan doesn't make horrible sequels like that.

This show is great. Glad i bought it. It is EXTREMELY hard to find though. It completely disappeared from the maket when Geneon went down.

Guilty Crown 11.5: ReAssortment
tumblr_ltslxwRjfF1qktlzuo1_r1_400.gif

Doing this close to one hour recap episode was a good decision on the animation studios part than wasting the time with an actual episode of the 22. It seemed like it was heavily focused on episode 1, 2, and 11, but included virtually every single most epic moment in between. Kaleidoscope, the Sword/Laser, and and Kenji's Gravity were my favorite voids. Yahiro and Souta's are cool too. I hope the friends have a larger role in the future. The music in the episode seemed different than the series though, or at least I dont recall most of the tracks. Lastly, it reminded me that episode 11 was pretty cool with Departure playing as Shu rose to the occasion. Cant wait for 12.

That's right. If anything Ezlac is judging all
single mothers and saying they must have done something wrong!

Not the words I would use but this is close enough yes.

My point is that it didn't, what are you talking about?

See above, what happens to her at least in my opinion shows that she just became some immature and irresponsible person later on. It doesn't fit how she acted as a child when she showed way more forethought.
