My 2 cents..

ATL-NYG:

Horrible job by the HC, why would you go for it in such a close game? Twice? Happy for Eli (even though I really don't like the the Giants), he's such an adorable akward guy. He kinda looks like someone from the Big Bang Theory.

PIT-DEN:

Ahahhahahahhahahah.

Awesome game

You see the Falcons going for it so much because we are afraid of good teams.

This game really exposed this coaching staff. I expect big changes.
MM is obviously gone, but I wouldn't mind seeing Brian Van "3rd and long = automatic conversion" Gorder gone as well.

And Smith is on thin ice. When they were showing him on the sidelines looking like he was about to cry.....disturbing. No fight. You are the HC man! And Ryan standing on the sidelines all by himself, no one talking to him about the game or nothing. This team gave up because they don't have a leader.

edit: I like Smith, I really do. He seems like a really nice guy, but sometimes the decisions he makes are just WTF. He did a great thing for this franchise but it's starting to look like he isn't the guy we need anymore. This team just has no fight.

Fucking L O L. Never even thought of that.

@verbum That's the problem with Ryan. He decent and that's very difficult to replace these day, let alone upgrade. He's just good enough to get his coach fired as they say. Smith's play calls were putrid on those 4th downs. He made the right decision in going for it, but just calls the wrong plays

Like I said that was my first time getting a really good look at Ryan and he did not look good at all. Sanchez looks much better. At the end of the day tho, it's only his fourth season and we've seen some QBs take off like crazy after a few years in the league. (Brees and Eli to name two.)

Yeah he seems to be in way over his head but their owner isn't really the guy who makes rash decisions is he?

Personally, I'd fired him right after the game.

The problem is that Ryan has ZERO trust in that O-line, and to be honest I can't say I blame him.

Horrible showing yesterday but he doesn't deserve that.
Not yet at least.

But see lots of guys are behind crap lines. Say what you want about TJack or Ponder, but they'll take the hits. They will hold it too long and then throw too early, but they're not afraid. When I watch Gabbert and Ryan, it seems the last thing in the world they want is to have that ball in their hands

They do get hit more but they are much more mobile QBs.
Ryan is like a poor man's Brady playing behind a pauper's O-line.

No offense but I can't stand this as a reasoning. You have to play the cards you're dealt. If Ryan truly has no faith then they need to scheme around it. Brees snaps with dual sidecars more than any QB i've ever seen which gives him the time he needs for those deep throws. If Ryan needs extra protection, give it to him. Ryan gave up on anything deep and went safe whenever he saw the least bit of pressure. You're not going to win in the playoffs that way

matt ryan is blaine gabbert

I agree with this 100%. I know some guys turn it around late in their careers, but I dont see Matt ever leading a team deep in the playoffs. He looked nervous in the pocket from the very start of the game. I could see if the OL was playing horrible and you were getting pounded you might start to get happy feet, but he starts out at that point. Flcons have so many weapons, if they get just get someone who would hang in there and look to get the ball down the field, they could be a scary team.

The difference between us and NO is that our guys simply cannot pass block, whereas the entire NO offensive gameplan is predicated on Brees having time to throw. Our guys aren't even athletic enough to run a damn screen, I mean seriously.
Everyone knew coming into this that the "X-factor" was going to be the Giants D-Line, which everyone has described as "nasty" all week. And we've been saying all year that this O-line was going to straight up get Ryan killed.

I don't want you to think I'm trying to explain it away, because I know it was bad, they were all bad. Ryan was bad, everyone was bad. I'm in agreement with you, Ryan needs more protection and we have to give it to him, but we simply didn't have the personnel to do it this season.

About Ryan in general though, yes, the expectations have been considerably lowered. part of it may be coaching, part of it may be o-line, but part of it is DEFINITELY him. he's all we got though, such is life in Atlanta

The whole time I thought Eli was getting pressured more than Ryan. Further, there are guys with as bad OLs that have won super bowls (Ben). Hard for me to cry for Matty, many considered him a top 5 or 6 QB just last year.

probably because he was, last year.
the reason I won't pin this all on Ryan is because I've seen him make the throws and I've seen him play with poise. Something is just off, he's lost it big time.

Eli WAS getting pressured more than Ryan....at first. That's pretty much the reason your offense didn't do shit until the 2nd half

Tebow 316 - Seriosuly, those were his passing yards vs. Pittsburgh.

Tebow won 6 games, and rested on the 7th.

3 losses and Tebow has risen.

The Steeler's RB coach's house caught on fire. Now, I feel that God was going way over the line on this one.

When the Broncos lose by three touchdowns at New England this week you're going to feel very bad about this post.

Correction: you should feel bad about it now!

What? I said setting his house on fire was out of line.

Brees does get sacked and knocked around after he makes a pass a lot but he doesnt bitch about it. He just makes a defense pay for it. He will just get up from a sack and then pass 40 yards down the field as a nice fuck-you gesture. This is how a QB should react to getting knocked around. Arod does this, Big Ben does this, and Im pretty sure Brady would do it if she wasnt such a woman.

That hat Ben wore in the post game deserves alot of questioning. What was going on there?

He was rockin a fedora man. Who the fuck are you to question it?
Actually, I dont understand the whole fascination with fedoras. Very few people can pull off that look and they are a lot more suave than Big Ben.

Find me something that happened in that last year at least. I want to destroy Rodgers as much as the next guy (we need to ship his old ass out of town to pave the way for HoFlynn).

Have to wonder how much of that is genuine since the cameras are on him but I think it probably is.

Did you see him on the sidelines? You realize that winning helps him as well, right? Christ you are a fucking idiot.

Has Florio admitted his error with the Brady Quinn stuff? I doubt it, since that douche never admits his mistakes. But damn, he was way off and kept shitting on anyone who questioned him

Nance as much as called him a liar on national TV. Florio is a cowardly shit peddling rumor monger. He's basically a Deadspin twat-blogger in a suit. Guy is a pathetic piece of shit. He doesn't care if he's wrong, he only cares if you didn't realize he was wrong because that means you weren't paying attention to him.

bring it!

That's what Jimmy said to his mom after she broke his nose with her fist.

I though fedora were supposed to be bigger/wider. It was like he jacked some skinny hipster for their hat.

Reactions:

Still pissed at ATL. More pissed at the Eagles. They would have destroyed the Falcons as well. Fucking losers.

And wow @Tebow! Too bad I will have to root for Brady now to defeat this heathen.

Thought it was just Falcons and Saints hate. Who could hate the Bucs? Their QB is so jolly.

Well, it's tough to hate teams that are completely irrelevant for so long like the Bucs and Cats. It's like hating the Lions. Who could hate such adorable little tag-a-longs?

I like the Saints. Why hate on the Saints? I don't understand.

fuck the saints. no one owes you shit. not the niners fault your franchise has sucked dick for the better part of 50 years or however long you've been around. you only made it to a superbowl because you were the benefactor of one of the biggest chokes ever. you only won a superbowl because you were the benefactor of the biggest choke job in superbowl history. you get bailed out by the refs time and time again. your coach is a scumbag drug addict. your qb is a faux modest douchebag. you haven't played a decent defense all year and the entire football world is sucking your dick.

we'll see on saturday

It looks like Dirtbag's antics after the SB just destroyed our reputation on this forum completely. There is no other explanation for how much hate my team gets here.
They do get a lot of calls in their favor, but a lot of other teams do as well. Not to mention usually the Saints dont even need those calls in order to compete. The whole thing is kind of ridiculous.

That is intense and I am not entirely sure where that came from.

That's because you're an irregular contributor to best-gaf. Were you here more often, you would know. Stick around friend, learn to hate.

Honestly, your creepiness does the Saints no favors.

Goddamn we're in the divisional round... and are a Yates/Tebow win away from hosting a freaking AFC championship game...

If by some stroke of luck that does happen ...I'm so there.

lol some pats fans around here already prepping for the AFC championship game :/
Why not? Any confidence the Broncos have from beating the Steelers is gonna be crushed the second it sinks in that they're going against the Pats again. They know what happened last time and I dont think there's a damn thing they can do to stop it from happening again. Plus it'll be in Foxboro and the Pats will have two weeks of rest.

The Broncos can win, but its gonna be a case of the Patriots having an off-day rather than anything Tebow can do.

Its definitely the ideal situation for New England. The Broncos aren't that good and I think going against the Steelers would have been a lot scarier.

You're lucky Tebow won. It forced me to shift my meta-joke. I wasn't going to mention the Texans at all in the OP, but after Tebow won the jokes went out the window.

The Broncos now know they can throw deep. They already knew they can run roughshod over the Patriots defense, now they have confidence to throw PA when winning. If they hadn't stuck to their turtling after going up early in New England, they have a real shot to win that game. I don't think the Broncos will be lacking confidence at all. They hung with the Patriots for a half, that's gotta be promising to a young team.
