huh? if you're going to say something, at least make sense.

Baltimore larry is high though, the only game this weekend that has a prayer at beating NE/DEN in ratings is Green Bay Giants.

southern redneck joke.

MAN HE GOT US!

YEEEEEEHaw

Absolutely. I'm talking about the "total defense" stat, not arguing that the defense is good. They are mediocre at best.

I see.

I use total yards because it's a pure stat, I feel it best depicts the performance of a defense without funky algorithms and colluded metrics, or the flukiness of turnovers. Simply put, yards leads to points.

On another note, has there ever been an offense that was dominant at the same time as its defense?

Last years Packers? The late 90's Packers were rated tops in both as well.

He probably meant real defense wins Super Bowls, not softest-schedule-ever-pads-our-stats defense.
NFC West, dude. NFC West.

Patriots 03,04,07

McDaniels will be in Denver all week. He'll be filming practices for sure.
Also there's no way Brees will have a hayday vs the 49ers. Lets be serious the 49ers have the nastiest defense in the NFL.

edit:
I'm a Denver fan not a 49er fan. (to the post below)

Maybe it's clouded judgment, but I never really associated the 49ers with dominant defenses.

that year was

Perhaps Giants in 86 as well, I don't think that offense is remembered as great though, but I think it was plenty to be feared. Certainly a better compliment to the defense than the Bears had in the previous year.

Shit. I forgot you can't read long words like convicted.
You mean packer team. They lost to Elway in the second one lets not forget that.
Yeah, but they were still dominant on both sides of the ball for those seasons, unless you think the 18-1 Patriots are all of a sudden a shitty team because they lost the last game of the year.

"galleria area"

I feel lucky to be one of those Houstonians that own a TV.

north of memorial city mall here. Live less than a mile away from my job, which means i can horseback to work. I also feel lucky, I own two of them new fangled HD television sets.

Packers had a great team that year. It was a good hard fought SB, either team could have pulled it out. It makes me at least appreciate it that much more. Certainly wouldn't want to hang our hats on a win over a shitty team.

Luckily the government helped me get one of those converter boxes...

More importantly, Brian Waters and Willie Roaf.

I can't believe that we at one point had Roaf, Jones, Orlando Pace, and Jonathan Ogden all playing tackle at the same time in this league. These are all time great tackles. I don't think we have any kind of tackles on their level in the game today.
Joe Thomas, Jake Long, and at least a couple years ago, Ryan Clady. Those guys are probably the closest men to the level we had several years ago.

I often screw that up, I believe it's normal to refer to it by the year the season started though?

I guess that's right. I was thinking of that playoff game against Dallas where the 49ers jumped out to a big lead, then held on, which was January 1995 I believe.

Marty Schottenheimer is 68 years old and hasn’t coached in the NFL since the Chargers fired him following the 2006 season, but that doesn’t mean he’s done.

ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reports that Schottenheimer will interview with the Buccaneers for their head-coaching vacancy on Tuesday.

Even better! Who cares if he chokes in the playoffs, he gets there! That's all I want....that's all I want...

Clady is still real solid he just needs to learn not to hold and get stupid penalties.

Isn't that true for every lineman? He's been solid but very little credit is given to Franklin. The guy is a rookie, and after some initial mistakes, has really become a force on the line. Overall the big fellas never get enough credit, but they have done an outstanding job. Kuper was a big loss as well.
