Simmons really likes the Giants' chances. This is FANTASTIC news.
He also thought the Steelers were old and busted

Sheriff's deputies said they pulled the body of a young man between the ages of 20 and 25 out of the Fox River in Oshkosh on Monday afternoon, but they had not confirmed his identity.

Coach Mike McCarthy said Philbin was in Oshkosh on Monday, and said the team has contingency plans in place if Philbin can't be there this week.
Apparently the son of Green Bay Packers offensive coordinator Joe Philbin has been reported missing:

It's believed Michael Philbin, 21, fell through the ice early Sunday. His body was found in roughly 15 feet of water, 30 yards from shore, at around 4PM ET Monday. Michael's friends in Oshkosh filed a missing person's report Sunday night after he was nowhere to be found throughout the day. Joe Philbin, Green Bay's fifth-year offensive coordinator, is currently away from the team
what in the world
Very common in the midwest for people to go out on the ice, my gf had a teacher who drove his car out into ice and fell through last year. He survived luckily.
Due they really?
Sorry for my mistake. If you check my post I have no corrected it with "dew."

Terrible news, my heart goes out to the family. Not a shocking sort of story given the weird weather this year but it's still unfortunate.
ugh. now i've heard of icing the team before the game, but this is ridiculous.

Are the Bears really going to hire Tim Ruskell as their new GM? No one wants to come to Chicago because they wouldn't have any power as GM. I hate these half assed steps the team has taken this off season. I'm getting my Texans avatar primed again if the Bears are seriously going to offer up Ruskell as GM after canning Angelo.
told you. nobody wants to come to chicago and inherit life support lovie. i almost wonder if it was some elaborate conspiracy by the chicago front office to dupe the fans. originally JA was talking about when he wanted to retire he wanted Ruskell to take over for him. maybe JA getting fired was just a ruse by management to make the Ruskell changeover more palatable.
either way its fucking terrible news.
Bears might look at Giants exec Marc Ross for GM job
By Sean Jensen sjensen@suntimes.com January 8, 2012 7:36PM
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. As his players cele-
brated their 24-2 victory Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons at MetLife Stadium, New York Giants general manager Jerry Reese reflected on the job security of men in his position.
Asked whether he could recall four GM positions
being open at the same time, Reese told the Sun-Times: Not off the top of my head, but thats the way this business is. Its a tough business. Its a show me business, and you dont get any passes. You have to do it every year.
Longtime Bears GM Jerry Angelo learned that lesson the hard way, as a break of a tiny bone in quarterback Jay Cutlers right hand doomed a promising season and
resulted in Angelos ouster.
Now the Bears are looking for Angelos replacement, and Reese highlighted one of the Giants personnel lieutenants, college-scouting director Marc Ross. Ross already has been interviewed by the Indianapolis Colts, and he might be one of the candidates for the Bears vacancy.
Hes a veteran personnel guy and has been around two or three different clubs, so hes seen how things are done differently at different places, Reese said. And hes smart. Hes a people person, a terrific evaluator, and hes qualified.
Ross is wrapping up his fifth season as the Giants director of college scouting. Around the NFL, the Giants are respected for their player evaluation, consistently capitalizing on the draft to build their roster.
Jason Pierre-Paul was a surprise selection with the 15th pick of the 2010 draft, but he already has established himself as one the NFLs best defensive ends.
When I was 8 I went out onto this frozen lake on a dare, got near the middle when it cracked and spidered about 10 feet in each direction. How I got off without falling in is a miracle.
The fact that Tebow had 316 yards passing and averaged 31.6 yards per pass in the game didn't escape notice on Sunday night. Tebow wore "John 3:16" on his eye black in the 2009 BCS Championship game and has since become identified with the famous Bible message.
The coincidental stats caused millions of fans to perform Google searches on the Bible passage in the past 24 hours.
Here's one more unbelievable stat: John Ourand of Sports Business Journal reports that the final quarter-hour television rating for the Broncos-Steelers game was, you guessed it, 31.6.
Your friends are assholes.
More like kids are stupid.

Ex-ESPN football analyst Sean Salisbury is out as a TV analyst for the Lingerie Football League with three weeks to go in the season.
The female football league's Mitchell Mortaza confirmed a tweet by CNBC's Darrell Rovel by emailing that the LFL "has chosen to part ways" with Salisbury. He's been replaced by Bob Hewko, a former QB for the University of Florida, Mortaza added.
The LFL released Salisbury from a contract meant to run through MTV2's telecast of Lingerie Bowl IX on Super Bowl Sunday.
Mortaza declined to comment on the split beyond emailing: "Our expectations were not met in terms of broadcast protocol and we were not pleased with the overall lack of respect toward our producers, which primarily drove the decision."
Demaryius Thomas knew he had scored a big touchdown in overtime against the Pittsburgh Steelers. For a brief moment, he didn't understand how big it was.
Because of the NFL's confusing, new overtime rules, Thomas thought the 80-yard touchdown pass he caught from Tim Tebow gave Denver seven points that Pittsburgh would have a chance to equal. It wasn't until he was celebrating with Champ Bailey, the team's star cornerback, that Thomas realized the game was over.
"I saw Champ [Bailey] run up to me in the tunnel, and I was like, 'What's going on?'" Thomas told Lindsay Jones of the Denver Post.
