The PlayStation Vita In 2011-2012

Essential purchases when buying a Vita.

a) A memory card
b) Uncharted Golden Abyss (this game is really stunning, a triple AAA title packed onto a little cartridge)
c) A screen protector (this thing is a finger print magnet)

:D

I need to get a case for the Vita too I think, I have no where to keep it atm except in it's retail box.

I'm skipping Uncharted. I'll gamefly it. Never been super into Uncharted games but they are enjoyable.

Wipeout is where it's at for me. Plus the downloadable games (Dragons Crown <3)

I'm really looking forward to LittleBigPlanet. Touch-screen Create mode is a perfect fit. Not only for accessibility, but for portable gaming.

I'm still not sure if I'll be a day 1 Vita purchaser anymore, but it does have a few games I'm really interested in:

Dragon's Crown
Escape Plan
Final Fantasy X HD
LittleBigPlanet Vita

Slightly interested in:
Lord of Apocalypse
Rayman Origins
Ruin
Tales of Innocence R (doubting it will get a western release)

Also looking forward to see footage of Assassin's Creed Vita and Square Enix's arpg.

so the sony screen protector is full size. how the F are we supposed to get that on without bubbles or lint invasion? argh, i hate these things. i swear every time i buy a 2 pack i end up ruining both trying to get them on. waste of money.

the only time i ever got one on without issue was the original psp. worked great. never had to change it once after that. every DS, phone, or tablet after that... bubbles and lint. :p

I had no problems with putting on 3 on my DS Lite, but failed when using them for both my PSP and Vita. Total waste of money for me.

Ninja Gaiden and Wipeout for me at launch.

Gravity Daze isn't launch, is it? I'd skip NG for that.

Gravity Daze(Rush) is launch window. Thats the first month according to peeps at Sony.

Ninja Gaiden is on my list of games to get..just not sure if I wanna be there on day 1.

Yeah, Ninja Gaiden is awesome to have, just not sure it'll be perfect... ie. I dont want slowdown etc.

Are there any videos of it in motion? youtube time.

Italian PSVita promotion nowaday is really bad!
I found some flyers in a popular electronic retailer but they were laying on Playstation Move shelf, under some Move Bundles and Gamestop have preorder shelfs but in horrible positions... at least in the three stores i visited this weekend :(
The only good thing is that Media World gives 4GB Memory Card if you preorder Playstation Vita but except for Internet there is no trace of promotion of this promotion

Does Sony know how bad is PSVita placed on retailers???

This game feels like it belongs on the Vita. I like all the different gameplay things they seem to be doing and with the touch screen, I might get some more done as far as creating levels go. Really excited for this.

Would changing the brightness effect the power consumption of the device, or doesn't it matter on an OLED screen?

I want to improve the battery performance, I already have wifi and Bluetooth off.

A pleasant surprise? I mean, it's still a minigame compilation, it's still not a very big game, but I'm surprised by the score.

Eurogamer Little Deviants review

For the handful of hours that it lasts, though, Little Deviants is a pleasant companion. It's not remarkably stylish or memorable - although it never looks less than charming as it sashays in rich cartoon fashion across the Vita's luxurious high-resolution screen - but it's a splendid ambassador for the console's many functions, and among its better mini-games has the potential to save you from a boring train journey every once in a while when more addictive smartphone games desert you.

7/10

I 100% agree with the review. It really is a surprisingly fun compilation, but some games are a pain in the ass. I'd give it 6-7/10 myself, but keep in mind, that the game is only 2000 yen here, while "normal" games cost 4000-6000 yen.

A lot of people have been mentioning awkward shooting controls in Uncharted, how are you finding it?

Most of the people playing it are playing it on Normal where the aim assist is still on. Hard doesn't have aim assist and that's where it falls apart.

I was pleasantly surprised to walk into GAME yesterday and find there's a good sized pre-order display for the Vita. :)

Yeah, sounds about what I was expecting. I might get bored of it, but my girls love their minigames (they can earn me some trophies. :p).

I didn't even know that. Are there time limits on when you can place your preorder?

For the european gaffers interested, Media World is Media Markt outside of Italy, maybe it is an Europe wide promotion.

Spain have them in pretty good places, there are some shelves with pre-order boxes, and empty official ones, in major retailers like FNAC or elcorteingles, and this is the first thing you find when you go to videogames section, before ps3 games. Sony is doing a good job here, I want to see what they will do on media and TV promo.

I have a Hori screen protector on my PSP-1000 and it's worked out great, but it was hard to get it perfectly aligned on the screen. I was hoping I wouldn't need one for the Vita.

The Binding of Isaac may be on the cards for Vita, despite those perplexing comments about a 3DS version probably being the only other version.

http://www.indiegamemag.com/mcmille...=Feed:+IndieGameMag+(The+Indie+Game+Magazine)

With this question, a fan asked, “is TBOI for the ps vita a possibility?” to which McMillen simply stated “yes”. This probably means that McMillen has intentions to port The Binding of Isaac to the Vita very soon, or has already set the motion flowing as he has done with the 3DS.

Seems like the Vita homebrew scene is moving along rather nicely.

You can see in this video snes9xTYL (super nes emulator), Bookr (pdf reader), CSPSP, T.O.M.E. (text mode rpg), EmuMaster (game boy emulator), Zombie Crisis (FPS), Wagic (which loads about 10 times faster than on a real PSP, this talks for the improved access speed of this new memory stick format), cavestory (platform/adventure), Picodrive (sega genesis emulator), Spider solitaire, ScummVM (point-and-click adventure), Daedalus (N64 emulator, this is not DaedalusX64), FCEU-PSP (Nes emulator). Those are more or less the homebrews I recommended to HBL users back when HBL was big.

Missing from this video is (unfortunately) gpsp which I couldn’t get to run on the Vita, while it ran fine on the PSP. What I could see is that the emulator is more sensitive than the PSP when a thread that’s currently not running crashes. I think (not sure) that gpsp somehow crashes HBL. On the psp it usually means that once you quit gpsp, HBL crashes. On the vita it seems to crash as soon as gpsp does “something wrong” to hbl, which is roughly as soon as it loads.

I got major homebrews to work, and now I’ll focus on reporting this to the EU and US version, which both need to be brought up to speed with these latest changes.

Finally got my hands on a VITA today. I'm in China, mainland china, and I wanted to see if my local games store had imported them from Japan already and, yep, they did. Although they were charging $430 usd for the damn things, so I'll just wait till I visit America next time, but god damn, that thing is sexier in person than on the internet.

So I was in EB today and noticed they had their Vita pre-order section set up with. I uh... apparently System 3's Putty Squad remake is getting an actual physical release? Figured it was just going to be a PSN thing.

Love how they've gone ahead and used a quote from a review of the original 1994 game. >_>

I'm glad homebrew is only limited to the PSP emulator.

But why do they need to reveal this shit before the US release? I want my emulators too. :p

Is there any place you can look online to see current releases on PSN and up to date prices? I don't currently have access to my PS3 and I traded my PSP toward the Vita.

Is there going to be a re-release of Peacewalker for Vita? I was considering downloading it when I got the Vita, but will wait if there's going to be some enhanced version.
