The best folder.
In actuality, the '?' folder is the one in the top left corner. It has the most files in it for a reason. :p

We need a glasses GAF one
That's next up, but you guys better be coming up with some good words to describe glasses-GAF this time, the whole 'anime' thing was so effed up. :lol

So while we're still kind of on the topic of Gamers and their many distinctions... how about generally?

Does anyone still feel a strange stigma or unsettling feeling if you're either mentioned as, or say you are a gamer? I still dont feel its a social norm of the masses to be an accepted thing. Although I've embraced my gamerness and will wear shirts and such proudly professing my hobby, you cant help but still feel a bit of ostracizing that happens if you speak about it openly to non-gamers.

I'd never self-identify as a "gamer" but I'm usually pretty honest about the fact that I play games, though I probably low-ball my hours spent weekly. The thing to remember about discussing any hobbies with people who don't share them is that it's inherently boring 9 times out of 10, but there are angles you can approach it from which make it more interesting for them. For example, I had a really interesting discussion about completing a New Vegas pacifist run with a few people who are totally uninterested in gaming.

Some people will still respond "lol neeeeeeeeerd" and so on, but if they do then they've told you everything you need to know about them.

Did we get a tie GAF image yet because that needs to be well thought out, also I need to know how many avatars we are working with.

All the avatars have disappeared and GAF is running slow. Surely its not because im trying to buffer the new Bleach episode :S.

They all disappeared from this thread but in the football thread they all work for me. Weird.

Edit : Oh, was just some cache shit, they are gone now too. Yours still works though for whatever reason. My browser likes you.

What country are you from sentry may I ask? It's just that I noticed you were 2 hours ahead of me, so you must be in Europe.
Born and raised in Central time (Houston, Texas U.S.), but about two years ago I moved here, to Syria. Same timezone as Athens Greece iirc. :p

Excellent start!

TieGAF? Oh man... it depends, would it include bow ties and neck ties?

We're talking mid-high double digits there, probably.

Neck Tie GAF only.

That's odd, there are 32 girls there and I PMed 31 (including zomba). Who am I missing?

I don't know that I DO call myself a gamer. I do bring up games a lot and with discuss them a lot if people show interest, and I am not ashamed to do so. It feel weird to actually call yourself that, like it's some sort of title. Or to shamefully admit it like it's some sort of disease.

Hardcore/Casual discussion: I agree with ShockingAlberto that these terms are used to shame others/particular types of games, but they also are defining types of people who do exist. But the definition of what these terms mean are going to vary wildly from person to person. For some, hardcore is the challenge it provides. For others, they describe the games people play, regardless of how they play them. For some, it is simply one who plays mostly FPSs. For me, they describe how much a person is willing to discuss in depth on a game and keep up on the latest gaming news.

The problem here is really what is inherent with any system trying to divide people in two groups (US political system anyone?) is that there aren't two kinds of people. There are all sorts of people (and all sorts of games.) That is why one definition is never going to work, and two terms creates a false idea that anything could be so simple.

Oh, so the Middle East. How are things there at the moment? I know you've had trouble.
It's not bad really in terms of daily life, other than stopping at checkpoints more often to check ID, and the electricity cutting out for many hours a day due to the winter, and no one one going out on Fridays...

A lot of shit going on though, but it's certain cities of the country, most places are totally unaffected from my experiences. That's beginning to change, unfortunately.

I'll probably be out of here by this time next year if all goes well, though.

[edit] Everyone's avatars are still up for me, except for Lissar for some reason... :s

Actually Lissar, there are only two types of people; those who believe that there are only two types of people and those who are too smart to fall into that trap.

Hmm.

The tears are hilarious. Online only DRM meant the PC version was never going to be a purchase for me.

There are tears? Maybe I should check the thread out, I saw the title and said "huh, well that's that then" and then came to this thread instead.

Will you be going back to the US or moving to Europe?
