Whoa. The stick in the foreground is an entirely new design compared to any other TE. Mind telling us a bit about its design, MarkMan?

Just revealed on Spike's CES coverage, Mad Catz new SFxT VS Sticks!

You can combine two of them together to form one long panel that mirrors the control panel of a japanese cabinet. Very cool!

MSRP: $199.99 for one stick.

More info here: http://www.madcatz.com/ces/2012/

There has to be more to it than that. Also, so much space to the left of the stick.

Yeah, I would have expected a SFxTK Fightstick Pro rehash if anything.
Come to think of it, the bolts and angle of the front bevel remind me of that classic black and yellow Namco stick that eTokki recently cloned. I wonder if the buttons are all yellow for the PS3 version?

They look yummy Mark! I wonder if they tweaked the fightpad dpad any, I hope the ps3 one is wired ( crazy I know) :P

Also when can we buy the MLG Ps3 Controller Mark??

Whoa, this is the first time I heard of the Namco clone. I know about their VSHG clone though.

That looks way more like a VSHG than a Namco.

Actually, That looks nothing like a Namco.
Bah, you're right. I have no idea how I got those mixed up. Regardless, it looks kind of similar to the Omni and VSHG.

Also, we'll be waiting for you to officially spill the beans, MarkMan!

I'm not offended by that new SFxT design. Good job MadCatz art department. While it looks cool and shit, it also seems bigger than other lines. We need more small sticks damnit.

Gonna answer my own question, it appears that the ps3 fightpads are wired!! Thank you Markman!! At 15% smaller and re-designed internals this may be the pad to get for pad players :)

That's good to hear. I remember all the horror stories about the wireless ones.

yes!!! I had one, a Akuma one, the battery made it cramped in the back and the wireless was not bluetooth like the oem sony controller. Between these new fightpads for the ps3 and the MLG controller... I am gonna drop alot of $ with Mad Catz :P Got to support Markman!! Doing a great job here!

Looking forward to more info on all of these controllers :)

Goddamn, the eightarc Ebony Fusion is $220 for me :( I was checking back till it was back in stock to see how badly I'd get screwed with tax/handling... $35 extra =/

I'm not in a rush to get one just yet, but, man, that sucks.

These new VS fightsticks look to be made with metal like the VSHG.... guess we will have to wait until Mark spills the beans on these but so far they look great!

i really hope the d-pad got some adjustments. its hard to pull off srk motions consistently with the current pads. i actually don't mind the pads current size since i have big hands.

That new SFxTK stick kinda looks like the Hori SC5 body type. I get the same vibes. I hope it's all metal though.

Also, connecting the sticks together doesn't seem that cool to me, or comfortable. Combined, it's around maybe 31 inches across? That's like a the size of a astro city or vewlix panel? Those are damn crowded, haha.

I hated playing on a 2 player 3rd strike candy cab machine at Super arcade (to much dude touching), and playing on a 2 player vewlix BB machine at AI was better, but elbows touching and awkwardness was still happening, hehe. I don't know why you would want that at home. When I am at home, I want my elbow space, spread my legs out like an animal!

Some peeps would like it though I guess. I just wish Madcatz would make a VLX size stick with plenty of space between buttons and stick. That is some king shit, and feels more like an arcade experience to me.

I also wish they made a wireless 360 fightpad. Sometimes I don't want to plug in my stick, and just want to sit on my fair away couch and screw around in SP or practice mode. That damn cord!!

Just my opinions of course.

I probably won't sink $400 into two sticks (I say that now but who knows) but I do like to imagine sitting on the couch with my gf and the two of us playing Castle Crashers or something with joined sticks. *shrugs*

I wanted a soul calibur stick but that new SFxT one looks good... is it as heavy as it looks? I want a stick heavier than the TE (yes I may sound mad but i do push my stick around)

Really excited about the Fightpad redesign. One of the biggest problems with the current design is that there's too much free area around the D-pad on the left side, which leads to the wearing out of that section of the D-pad much faster.

I've run through three Fightpads, and problems always start on the lower left side.

Has Razer announced anything new about their arcade stick at CES?

Not sure BUT there is NO way the quality will match the MadCatz sticks. I bought a Razer Onza, had preordered it MONTHS before it came out, finally got it and the right trigger would not work :( I use a death adder black edition at work and the quality leaves alot to be desired, if you can I would grab a Madcatz stick. Also the VSHG and the VLX sticks are high quality too, oh and the Hori SA editions. I have them all but the VLX hori, I hear good things on it but its a tad too big lol!

Glad to see this thread bumped. Hoping I can get some advice.

I'm looking to pick up my first arcade stick, mostly because I want to get into some shmup games. I've been leaning towards the Qanba Q4RAF because of the compatibility (though the Omni Arcade Stick posted above seems really nice as well), alright choices for the genre? I'd be ok with a 360 only stick too if there are better choices out there.

Open to any suggestions!

You push around a TE? Geez.

I pushed around my madcatz SE without much problem but i can't so much as budge the much larger TE.

The $199 stick looks to be a bit stockier than the others, weight details haven't been sent out though.

For shmups you will probably want to replace the Sanwa joystick found in those with a Seimitsu part. I and many others like the LS-32-01, found in the Hori RAP EX-SE and a few other shooter branded sticks. If you're going to do that, maybe getting a full Sanwa stick for ~$150 is not the best idea (depends on your budget). The cheapest way would be to get a Madcatz Fightstick SE and swap out the knockoff parts for legit components. The total would probably come out ~$100 (~50 for stick, and ~$50 for parts), but you might be stuck looking at wrestlers. The good news is that you can't really go wrong. Almost all current gen sticks are high quality, and easily modifiable/serviceable if they don't meet your needs.

Thanks for the suggestions. Looking a few posts up, it seems Ra1den is having a similar issue (shame the HRAP EX-SE isn't readily available anymore).

I have a better idea what I'm looking for at least. Need to do some research into modding these things.

The EX-SE is a super stick I definitely recommend it if you can find one. Also, it's too bad only Hori seems to be supporting Seimitsu in any way anymore. We need more Seimitsu sticks in the world.

Yeah my TE moves around when I'm executing moves. :/ I wish it didn't!!!!

MarkMan can you give me a weight on the "metal" Black SFxT stick?

Yeah the wireless ones were a truly awful product. Great buttons and dpad but the wireless dongle feels like it was engineered to die five days after the (very short) warranty expired.

These new sticks look rad but I'm worries about whether they'll work with next gen machines.

That eTokki Omni looks great. I'm trying to stay away from building a stick collection like before, but it's sexy. The new Madcatz's look nice. Glad they're switching up the design away from the classic TE or TE S mold.
