EPL stats for fouls so far this season. My money was on Stoke
Wow, some surprises there.

Well done Swansea, really hope they stay up this season.

Saw that earlier. Tbf he did apologise almost immediately but yeah a ridiculously stupid thing to say.

Ryan Babel making a fool of himself on Twitter now, posting BBM pins and telling people it's Patrice Evra's...

The Times reporting Newcastle willing to pay £15 million to try and bring Carroll back.

Fuck that. He's not exactly setting the world on fire, but he's our only dedicated striker for the next month. Who knows, maybe he might actually get some form when he's playing with Gerrard, getting some decent service, and not being dropped every other fucking game.

I say sell him back... He's never going to live up to that price tag. Expense loss but there you go. Who in the world though was worth 35 million pounds.

Clear case of the decimal point in the wrong place...( 3.5 Million for the mathematically challenged)

To be honest I'd cut our losses and take £15. That can go a long way into reinvesting in a striker who fits the style of football we want to play. Someone who can complement Suarez, and take the ball on the deck and get at Defenders. Someone who can run in behind as well as hold the ball up.

FUCK YOU MALAGA

don't worry, malaga will make sure barca drop points in a few weeks :D

The loss is a loss, but I can't see us getting a decent number 9 in January, and with Suarez out we will be well and truly screwed.

Viva, Babel ain't making a fool of himself, he be trolling.
Course but it's a pretty silly thing to troll about...he always gives pins out just so his followers abuse whoever it is (his haters lol). Bit needless really.

Mancini has weighed in on the Suarez/Evra case...not gonna be popular ahead of the Carling Cup semi-final...

Do Newcastle fans even want Carroll back at this point? Sure Ba is out for the Cup of Nations but still...
Lots of rumours that Ba may be leaving Newcastle before too long. It's probably just a counter rumour which goes along nicely with the stories that Ba might be leaving.

I'd welcome him back. He showed his talent while he was playing for us and was in hot form before he moved to Liverpool. He can get that back, I'm optimistic of that. I don't think his heart was set on the move due to the fuck up on Newcastle's part and it reflected. It was like he was depressed or something. :lol

But yes, I'd like to see him back. Maybe even on loan for the rest of the season. It would be a benefit to us (he's better than our other strikers, even now, I'd say), to him (playing for his home town again) and for Liverpool (his confidence is bound to come back and hopefully he would carry it over for Liverpool).

Then again, there is the problem of Liverpool finding a replacement.

You'll get Darren Bent :)

I'd take him back. Severely doubt he would come back though. No matter how shitty things might get for him at Chelsea, I think too many bridges have been burned.

Shame.

I seriously think a time machine would solve shit. Though I'd like to keep Ba in the process. :P

You keep Ba, we keep Suarez, we tell him never ever ever evra to say Negro, everybody wins.

Like Clegg said, you can ignore the United talk. The idea that Ferg would look at someone whose knee is practically ticking after this season is crazed.

Redknapp is like a fucking rotary sprinkler of transfer shite, though. Just do your business, man, and pipe down.

I think we are done already. Man City, UTD and Spurs are my lock for the the top 3. With Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool fighting for the 4th spot. (In order of probable finish)

A solid defense, will go a long way and we have that. But we'll need goals..and I don't see where that's coming from even with Carroll. Carroll just doesn't seem like the guy that's going to push us there.

A deal in the summer would make better sense granted. But Newcastle, or anybody else that's interested, is in a position of power.

He's not the only expensive mistake a club has made....(Veron) and he won't be the last, I'm ready to cut him loose.

I feel a tad reactionary for even suggesting it, all players need time and I think he's a good player. But the price tag suggested he was world class...which he is not and I don't see him ever becoming that.

I would love him to prove me wrong, to become a world beater, but the chances of that feel so utterly remote.

The other day I tried to beat the keeper from my own half. I was hopeful...but ultimately let down by the sheer difficulty of the task. It's always worth a shot...but it's a very long one.

Liverpool don't have the time to mess around. Not qualifying of the CL has to be viewed as a major disappointment, due how openly achievable it is this year.

If the price is right...we should let him go.

Haha.

And yeah, it's most likely the reason why the release clause is where it's at. Anyone wanting to take the punt won't want to spend too much money. This leaves us in a pickle. Do we give him a new contract, get rid of the clause and then sell him in a couple of years with the intention of a quality offer? Will anyone offer a large sum of money because of the risk? Or do we leave the clause in so that we at least get some moolah from his sale just to be on the safe side?

There has been so much made of Demba Ba's fitness issues. If they rumours are anything like the truth, I don't think anybody will ever pay very much for him unless they are truly truly desperate.

The cost of signing him wouldn't just be his transfer fee. There would be a signing on fee, agents fees, mega insurance costs plus his wages obv. It'd be alot of money to spend for somebody who seems to be high risk.

With all that said, I don't see Newcastle selling him unless they get alot of money...he is a major asset of theirs right now.

So I don't think he's moving anywhere anytime soon unless somebody does something pretty stupid.

They should probably re-sign him, or cash in right now. Last night. Henry's goal reminded me of the true value of a born finisher. Ba is that. Yes that knee is a problem, how bad I don't know.

Pure finishers are not easy to come by.

Carroll needs to play for Stoke & Pulis. It is his destiny. I also think he would thrive.

I don't think Carroll should go anywhere in this transfer window...I'm not really a fan of spending a lot of money in January, where players need time to adjust to the physicality and pace of the league, and/or the certain style that the team plays. Someone like Bent would be a short term signing, and I'm wondering if high profile foreign players like Cavani would even be attracted to Liverpool at this point, with likely no European nights in the future.

Also Gerrard is returning, and although his delivery was off during the Man City game, there were definite signs of improvement against Newcastle. I'd give Carroll this half season as a trial, and if he doesn't perform, he could go on a loan or we could cut our losses.

To this day I still can't understand what exactly went wrong with Veron.

When United signed him from Lazio he was a world class midfielder. He was up there with Zidane as one the worlds finest players.

Then he came to United and it all went to pieces. I suppose he struggled with the faster pace in the PL. He was great in the Champions League for us but he picked up a few injuries.

One of the most disappointing transfers I can remember because he was genuinely world class. Even now at 36 he's a good player. Wasn't he asked to come out of international retirement?

Yeah I can't remember where I read it (was it here?) but signing Demba Ba would involve spending 20m, even if you meet his release clause.

I want to keep him for as long as possible. If his knee blows whilst still with us, so be it. It's something worth sticking with. It's not like we can't look at other strikers either, anyway.

I just think this whole thing has been blown up bigger than it really is (clause-wise). Though we can blame Harry Pork Chop for that.

Silva a major doubt for tomorrow apparently. Didn't train today and suffered heavy bruising on his ankle against United.

:loltelli is fit though!

He's way undervalued (probably some 8 to 10 million when he should go for 15 or so) because of his injury and due to Lewandowski taking his place for good.

I'm against selling him for around 10m. Like you said, he's worth more. If he finds his old self in the second half of the season, we'll get more money in summer if he still wants to leave. If he doesn't find his form, we'd still get around 8 to 10m. A good replacement won't be cheap, so we really shouldn't sell him too quickly.
