US PoliGAF 2012 | The Romney VeepStakes: Waiting for Chris Christie to Sing…

Newt is not a good debater. Paul eviscerated him in the last debate.

Paul's not a great debater either in my mind. He kind of rambles and stumbles on words too much. When he comes up with something good it is usually really good, though. But otherwise he trips up a lot. He doesn't make many actual soundbite-like gaffes like Mitt or Newt or some of the others might say, though, so that does elevate him a bit.

If Huntsman comes in a distant third I really see no point in him staying in the race

should have waited for 2016 dude

I almost think he's trying the same thing as what happened to Romney. He'll lose this time, but next time around he'll have more footing and a lot more name recognition.

So can Huntsman take that bit away from Paul?

Most definitely. I wouldn't be surprised to see Huntsman surge and overtake Romney by 10pm or so once more districts report in. The latest polls are showing a massive swing to Huntsman that hasn't yet been picked up by the news agencies.

Yeah but GWB was a charming buffoon that people wanted to have a beer with.

Romney comes off as the rich asshole boss from a soap opera who blackmails women into sleeping with him by threatening to fire their husbands, but also seduces them away with his vast wealth at the same time. And he's a bad liar.
lol

Its not even that. Bush said stupid stuff but it was almost always some kind of gaffe whereas Romney just says shit that so out of touch for most Americans. Theres a very big difference.

I guess, but this has been quite a bad run. From the weak announcement speech to focusing entirely on NH. He has to go to Iowa eventually if he plans on being president, should have started this year.

I like Christie's argument against him: this is a guy who was given a job and is now running against the guy. It feels disloyal to many people,

He got some name recognition and experience out of it, and might fare better next time around.

I don't think he'd have a chance, but as has been said a lot of folks do better the second time around.

The AP and CNN just called it for Romney.

Yeah, polls closed, and it's an insta-call based on the exit polling. Everyone will have called it in the next couple of minutes.

I'm extrapolating this from Paul's performance thus far, but the Libertarian segment of GOP voters seems to be growing pretty rapidly. If it continues I will have hope that the Republican party might be worthwhile again someday.

Is it libertarian or an uptick of single-issue voters who are fervently anti-war?

Romney is going to run in the general election as a honkey Obama. Policies will be the same BS corporatist policies. Also how is this fuckup electable, no one can relate to him.

That's ridiculous. If you think you can do a better job than your boss then go for it and try to take it from him. It shows courage to me.

If Huntsman gets less than 15% I could see him dropping out. He hasn't got much money left and he's really gone all in on NH.

Personally, I think it's the former. My opinion is not informed, but most Republicans I know have strong Libertarian leanings. It's anecdotal I know, but I definitely see the GOP moving away from social conservatism eventually. It's just a question of how long it will take.

Wow! Look at those Ron Paul numbers. Third party split is coming. All those people voting for Ron Paul aren't going to be happy when he ends up losing.

If Paul left the race and went independent/libertarian then Obama could go on TV, shit on the flag and declare himself a radical Islamic communist and still win.

Huntsman is done tonight regardless. He isn't even going to be within shooting distance of Romney, and he bet the farm on NH. He doesn't have the resources or the continued will to compete anywhere else.

Damn, I wish Paul would run as a Libertarian. The moderates in this country have been denied a voice for too long, it's time for one of the two big parties to either break apart or be weakened enough to allow another party to take its place.

For Kosmo.

How much more skin should they put in the game? I mean, it's obvious they're just lazy people who are in it because there's no incentive to work, and being poor is obviously awesome.

Anyway, I live in Atlanta and the folks that I've seen who have been middle class and fallen into poverty... it's heart breaking. I've seen a lot of people take it in stride, but I've seen families fall apart over the money aspect of it. Shit is sad. The income disparity on display can be overwhelming at times.

I actually just got a much better job and it's still crazy how little that salary bump gets me in terms of mobility.

Just got around to reading this, and man it's sad... No one should have to take half of medication they really need in order to make it stretch...
