Smoking marijuana may not harm lungs

Pretty sure that, while not as harmful as cigarette smoke, there are still adverse affects associated. That said, there are tons of things that can kill you, so if you want to minimize risk, there are a variety of ways around the lung problem, if you're willing to invest some time and/or money.

I'm waiting for the study that suggests smoking Marijuana casually is actually good for your lungs. Just wait, it'll show up one day......

There was a study a few years back where people who smoked cigarettes and marijuana at the same time had little more incidence of lung cancer than non-smokers. It seemed to suggest the marijuana had anti-carcinogenic properties. Anyone want to help me find it? Google isn't my friend today.

Clever way to convince your self harmful gateway drugs aren't that bad for you. Whatever floats your boat I guess,

dude, the real Tom Penny LOVED drugs.

you should be ashamed.

I've got a friend who is 26 and he smoked weed pretty regularly since he was 16. About a year ago he had a mental breakdown and was diagnosed with schizophrenia. His family has a history of it, but a strange coincidence is of the six family members of his who have the condition, four of them were regular weed smokers. The other two weren't regular users but did smoke on occasion. Four of the six have managed to get it under control through the use of medication. All six use medication, but the two who still suffer the most are also still smoking weed. All are male.

Purely anecdotal, but very interesting to me. We still don't know the side effects of the drug and that's enough to keep me away.

Magic Flight Box makes thick ass coat of resin stick to your throat. You'll see this same coating on the little glass tube that you inhale with. After using it exclusively for a few days it gives you a worse cough than a joint or bong ever would.

It's a cheap piece of crap vape and you get what you pay for.
Eh, not so sure of that. Pretty much any vape with a tube/whip will build up resin like that. I never cough as much as I do with a joint or bong hit.

I wouldn't say that's too anecdotal. I think there's good evidence that marijuana can make latent psychological disorders manifest themselves among heavy dosage/usage. What's not very clear is that marijuana is solely responsible for these same disorders occuring. Same goes for LSD and other really strong psychedelics. If someone has a family history of schizophrenia I would probably be careful about using marijuana.

It was actually mentioned on the last page, some very interesting correlation.

Yep, it's interesting that cannabis contains significantly more tar than tobacco and yet...

from some hippie website so grain of salt and all that...

Yeah, but I don't know, I don't see why he still can't hang out with them. When my friends and I got nothing to do, there's nothing better than to light a couple bowls up and chill. And of course, not everyone smokes, so I don't see why he can't get along with them.

i did, for about three years. and then i had enough of it.

Smoking marijuana is much cleaner than tobacco, but to say that it's not bad for you at least to a degree is dubious. I enjoy mary jane quite a bit as a great way to relax and see things from a different perspective. Still, I know that smoking isn't the healthiest activity in the world, but at least it's not tobacco. I'm in the market for a vaporizer at the moment, but that'll have to wait until I get my 360 fixed.

While aspects of this story are certainly interesting re: their involvement of marijuana, a family incidence of mental disability is far more likely to be the root cause of such issues. Whether or not drug use of any kind might exacerbate the existing instability is another matter, and certainly possible.
