Oh man, I had forgotten about Mall Ninja.

Legend of the Mall Ninja

:lol :lol :lol never heard of this before

We were previuosly restricted to .38’s and two Mossberg 500’s with less leathel rounds in them, but when our team saved the life and possibly the virginity of the Mayor’s nephew, there was a special relaxation of the rules made for us, due to the factt that the nepheew(who will remain nameless to rpevent a scandal) was saved by us using weapons better than our issue setup, so now we have good funding for gear for our jobs, and we needed to find relaible SMG’s, but the HK’s just wouldn’t cut it.

It was a hostage situation that was hushed up. The SWAT prettyboys were overpowered by the Gap, and we Backup RTF’ers had to resume our roles, and basically put everything five by five. The takedown was actually applied with SW weapons, SW3’s. It happened a while agao, and there is no way you would know what city I am in, so I can reveal these details, lets just say that the Mayor had really deep pockets to keep all of this out of the news. People aren’t so holy and upstanding when you get out your checkbook, they start to “forget” stuff, at least that what I understood happened.

The CZ series of pistols are highly sought after as collectors items in the US. Especially the first series of CZ-75's.

We're not missing out on Norinco stuff. Norinco broke the law when they tried to illegally import 2000 fully automatic weapons (Type-56's) into the US. They directly supplied many of Oakland gangs, and even offered items such as explosives, light and heavy machineguns, anti-aircraft missiles, RPG-7's and mortars.

Also Norinco sold ballistic missle technology to Iran.

You can still get Norinco Saiga type shotguns and ammunition in the US though.

Heard about that, and if you are implying that you don't support Norc because of arms smuggling or arming less than palatable countries or individuals, you should probably just get rid of all your guns. I heard your President may have been involved in some smuggling/arming himself recently.

Don't take this the wrong way, I'm just putting it out there. Happy Kwanzaa!

Mmm hmm.

BTdubs, is Manos perma'd?

I was wondering that myself. Maybe you need to load up your commie gun, and I'll find some dang magazines for my American puppet government gun and we'll mount a rescue mission.

Hmm...maybe from something he posted in OWS?

I dunno.

Well, I probably wouldn't trust the Norc in combat situations lol, but I have other non-commie stuff I could bring.

I was just about to say I didn't own any American stuff, but I just remembered that I have a Kimber 1911. Most of the rest of them are German origin.

Mine are a mix of US and German.

H&K, Remington, Springfield, Rock River Arms.

I kinda/sorta want to try out a Desert Eagle, but it just seems so silly to me.

Got these two interesting pistols for Christmas.

The top one is a Norinco NP29. It is a single stack 1911 style 9mm. Best thing? $380! You US guys are really missing out on the Chi-com stuff.

The bottom is a CZ75 SP-01 Shadow in 9mm. What a fantastic pistol. It is the pistol of choice for action shooting sports up here in Canuckistan, and I can see why. It is also full steel, so it is nice and heavy with very controllable recoil for follow-up shots.

I know the CZ are not that big in the US, but you would do yourself a great service to pick up one of these finely tuned pistols. Even the base CZ75s are amazing pistols.

SAM_0247.jpg

Oh fuck!! I'm starting to narrow down my 9mm purchase and I'm hard locked on 2 models. Springfield XD9 or a CZ-75 SP-01. I want to want the CZ ... but have yet to get one in my hands to feel it, or shoot.

How do you like it?

If you can get an older CZ. I'd go for that.

The first thing you notice about a CZ is the fit in your hand. It is best feeling pistol I have ever held. The ergonomics are astounding.

The trigger is as smooth as butter from taking out the slack to the very light hammer release.

The sights work very well. I find the front fibre-optic makes it very easy to line up follow-up shots. The pistol also works very well when instinctive shooting. There is a reason competition shooters up here love it.

Now, for some, the weight might be off putting. It is a full steel gun, although I believe there is an aluminum or polymer framed CZ (Phantom, maybe?). The weight is good at reducing recoil to a minimum, and on a mild round like the 9mm, it just makes it so shootable. The gun is well balanced, but some feel it is a tad front-heavy.

The other downside I could see is the frame width. The rails of the slide are opposite of a standard type pistol which results in a very thin slide. Grabbing and cocking could be a problem if you have huge hands or are aggressive with the slide.

I would highly recommend you get out and try one (or at least hold one) before finalizing your decision.

Actually, CZs do have a pretty big following here in the US, I think. At least in the places I go to shoot here in Texas, and certainly for people looking into 9mms, they do.

I regularly recommend them for people looking into 9mms here on GAF. I think they're awesome. The only reason I don't have one anymore is that I became addicted to the blast of shooting the .45 round, and soon got into the 1911 world.

I had a .50AE, fired a couple mags through it and sold it. Fun gun, but expensive to shoot and ammo was hard to come by for it up here. I'd definitely try one before buying one.

Nice thread, I hope US GUN GAF can help me out:
I recently booked my '12 America trip and this time around I want to use this opportunity to shoot some weapons. Plan is to go to the shooting range, rent whatever weapon(s) they have and have a fun time.
Best case scenario some AR, handgun & shotgun.
Is there anything that would prevent me from doing this? I was in the army so I'm not really a novice but I don't have any licence/certificate. I'll be in the San Fran area during my stay if that makes any difference. I know the law is pretty relaxed but I just want to be sure.

The shooting range I went to just required a valid photo ID like a passport for people from other countries. I'd recommend getting a list of recommended ranges in the area and calling them to be sure.

I think you'll want to also find out of there will be a long wait. It was packed when I went.

Good luck and enjoy your visit!

Jackson Arms in South SF is one of the best gun ranges I've ever been too. Their rates are very reasonable as well.

Yeah I think there's no better place in SF. They pop up #1 on Google and seem to have fairly good ratings and you recommend them too I think this seals the deal.
Man I can't wait!

Had fun today in the desert. Guns I shot:

Walther P22 nice little .22LR pistol
MP5 shooting .22LR fun little replica of a MP5
AR-15 converted to shoot 9mm - man had more of a kick than I imagined.
AR-15 regular
Mossberg 930 - fun as hell semi auto shotgun
Sigarms 556 - loud as hell but almost no recoil at all compared to a AR-15 shooting the same ammo.
M14 - great rifle, unique
Glock 17, 19, 35 - nice variety of glocks to test otu
Beretta 92FS -
Smith and Wesson revolver - dont know model but it chambered 7 rounds in .357

That's about it I think but I may have shot more but I can't remember overall it was a great time shooting for a first timer like me and firmly establishes my wanting to own a gun.

I'd liked to thank the State of California for buying this Ruger Mini-14's for their Department of Corrections and also banning their civilians from owning them. It creates a lot less competition for the rifle on the resale market and allowed me to get it for only $425. :)

It even has one of those pointless, but kind of neat, restricted to LE stamps on them.

Nice gun and really nice price. That is the rifle that gets the anti-gun people in a real panty-twist up here. It was used in one of the school shootings.

Funny thing is that they use it as an excuse to fight for a ban on semi-auto rifles (and that one in particular), but the idiot that committed the crime with it screwed it up when trying to convert it full auto. Essentially he turned it into a bolt action as he had to cycle it after every shot.

Yeah, I was really impressed how good the condition was and how cheap the price was. Heck, even considering the age it's still great. Surplus City in PA is one of the best dealers to get old LEO weapons from. Great staff too! They are sort of the one stop place for AKs,Colt AR's, Nagants, and stuff from Century Arms. I'm going to miss the Beretta 92FS a bit, but I would have needed to fix the night sights on it, plus the 1911 is my carry piece. Otherwise I wouldn't have been able to do a zero impact (no money net spent) and I really wanted a semi-auto rifle.

I recall you mentioned wanting to buy one with the end in the long gun registry in Canada. :)

Reminds me of how the dumbass in the Giffords shooting had his extended mag jam in his gun (I wanna say it was a glock). Doesn't surprise me as lots of Glock aftermarket extended mags are total crap (as I've seen first hand). Actually the manual mentions how you can make the gun a single shot bolt (temporarily). Interestingly this doesn't appear in the new manuals, but it's still on Ruger's site.

So anyone looking into the Smith and Wesson Govenor.

Like the Taurus Judge, except it also fire 45 ACP, along with 45LC and .410, except it's made by Smith and Wesson, so the warranty is a lifetime one (not sure if Taurus has one too) and in general S&W makes better guns. Apparently S&W is having trouble making enough of them. My gunshop had two in since August and they sold in hours. Apparently these issues should be solved by summer. It also fires six shots.

Whoa! What's it like to shoot .410 shot shell out of that? Never knew about a revolver like this.

I wish Canada would get rid of the BS barrel length limits so we could get some nice shorties up here.

What is the process with owning a handgun in Canada? I was under the impression it was near impossible.

I was looking to get a revolver as my next gun purchase, was looking at 44's, but this might be what I wait for instead...

That's my thought too. Would make a great carry piece.

Not sure, the Judge is similar, except it's only 5 shots and you can't use .45 ACP. I've heard people say it packs a wallop, but using the Winchester PDX-1 .410 it's an excellent weapon for self defense.

Just bought a Judge (the new one with the tactical rail for maximum comedy) for my father for Xmas. It's not that bad with 2.5" .410, though the recoil is definitely a step up from .45LC.

Great trigger in SA (DA isn't anything to write home about, but it never really is) and handles as well as something as oddly-proportioned as the Judge is going to.

As to comparisons with the S&W, I couldn't say - I will note that the Taurus is a pretty well put-together piece with decent finishing and a similar lifetime warranty. I'm kind of shocked that S&W let Taurus have the .45/.410 market to themselves for as long as they did before coming out with a copy.

I can't comment besides what I've heard. I know one gun store on sell the Judge and when the Governor is in full production they are done with Taurus, they claimed the CS is pretty bad.

I suspect it was to study the market first (see if it was more than a niche), and then essentially beat them on the upgrade, which the Governor is, at least feature wise.

Not really, but there are some retarded hoops to jump through.

We have a multi-tier license here; unrestricted, restricted, and prohibited.

Handguns fall under the restricted class. To obtain that, it is a separate course from your regular unrestricted license. There is an intrusive background check and quite a bit of waiting. It took 72 days for me to get my license.

In order to transport a handgun, you must apply for an authorization to transport (ATT). In order to get that, you must be a permanent member of a range. Getting an ATT usually means yet another course and more waiting. Took about 8 weeks to get my ATT, but the ATT is good for all of my handguns/restricted rifles and lasts the duration of my license/club membership.

Some retarded provisions:

All handgun mags have to be pinned to 10 rounds.

All handguns must have a barrel longer than 106mm (~4.2 inches). Everything shorter is prohibited. I guess they think it will prevent concealment, but like all retarded laws, this one doesn't impact criminals at all. We can get smaller pistols, but they have to have a Canadian barrel. The Glock26 is a disgrace in this country lol.

.32 ACP and .25 are prohibited calibers because they can be used in prohibited "pocket" guns like Derringers. The only exemption is if you are an Olympic shooter as they use the .32 cal.

The biggest problem up here is that the entire body of laws governing firearms falls under the criminal code. That means that if you accidentally let your license lapse, you become a criminal the second that happens. And believe me when I say that firearms offenses up here are rape time for the cops. You could get 5 to 10 for letting your license lapse and still having firearms in your possession.

There has been some movement up here in regards to this, and there are some strong advocates for getting the laws changed, but we have a long way to go. There is a large population of licensed (and probably even more unlicensed) gun owners to the tune of 1.9 million citizens, but we are fragmented. We don't have a strong front like the NRA to help us out and unify us.

There are over 7 million registered guns in Canada across all classes, but an estimated 11-18 million in country. Handguns make up about 9% of that. Most people don't bother going through the hassle to get licensed for them.

Here is my Kimber Pro Carry II. You can see how the barrel juts out to meet the 4.2" limit. This doesn't look super offensive, but on the G26, the barrel sticks out over an inch.

Hoping to get to the range on Monday. I need to work on a trigger control issue I have where all my groups end up at centre, but left at the 9 o'clock position.

I'll be doing 200 to 300 rnds of 9mm, 50 of .45 and 50 .40.

No point in being a gunnut if I can't shoot worth a shiz.

Also, gratuitous pic of my USP.

Where do you shoot? I've been thinking about getting back into shooting, but I was spoiled living in the US, rules here are much more complicated.

Shoot mainly on private property, i'd shoot more at a range but the main one in Sydney (malabar) is being closed as its prime real estate for development. The next bet is one near silverdale but not a fan due to having poor facilities and has a max distance of 200m i think.

All the other ranges are mainly targeted for pistol or 22 cal guns (50m max)

That sucks. 200m is not really enough for .308, or any rifle really.

Yep thats why i gave up going there. The malabar range is still open and that goes out to 800m, but the issue with that range is its right on the coast so its affected by wind alot and booking is a PITA as there is alot of gun clubs that use the place and they're full of old people who think they know better than anyone else.

This thread title still frightens me. I always autocomplete it in my head with "...in the bushes?" or something along those lines.

I never really liked the title myself, just makes all of us responsible gun owners look bad. :/

It would be nice if a mod could change the thread to something like "Gun Owners Thread |OT|" or something.

Anyone into shooting clays? I just did some basic stuff this weekend and really enjoyed. I'm looking to get into it but I haven't found good info online. Anyone know some good forums and sites? I'm thinking of picking up a Beretta 391 semi auto with my tax refund to get started.

I've shot quite a few guns with my friend who is in the Army (and shoots competitively), but I've never owned one. But now that I have a wife and little girl, it's amazing how vulnerable one can feel without any sort of home protection. Sure, the odds of someone breaking into my house are extremely slim, but just the fact that it does happen, and it can happen, is terrifying to me. I just have way too much to lose to not be ready for something like that.

I'd like to pick up a compact SIG (everything else is junk as far as I'm concerned) at some point, but I know my wife is pretty against it. =(

I will be shooting some hand tossed clays this weekend. I haven't shot clay at a range in quite a few years. Only type I have done, is Trap. Skeet is a bit more challenging, as the bird comes from a different direction, compared to the same direction in Trap. Sporting Clays looks to be a lot of fun, kind of like golf with a shotgun. Mostly, I just prefer to get some wide open BLM land, a few friends and a hand tosser. I am also thinking about getting a semi-auto 12 this year. Not sure which make or model, I just know I want a new gun and it's either going to be the semi-auto 12 or a bolt action .308.

SIG's certainly are nice, they also demand a premium price compared to other pistols. Every time I think about getting a SIG, I always think about how I could get 2 XD's (or 1 XD+mags+holster+cleaning supplies+more mags) for the same price. All depends on what is comfortable to you though. See if you can go to a range that does rentals and try various makes and models until you find what fits you best.

I would recommend 9mm as your caliber and go from there. 9mm is easy to shoot, available in a wide variety of firearms and most importantly, it is cheap to shoot. It is tempting to get a bigger caliber (I know I was and did get a .45 as my first pistol). But bigger calibers are more expensive to shoot and if you have an ammo budget, you need to get the most bang for your buck. For me, that is 9mm.

Anyone have experience with the Remington R1? I'm looking to add a 1911-pattern pistol to my collection, and the price and no-frills nature of it makes the R1 quite tempting.

Gonna spend $500 on an airsoft gun.

Cheaper to shoot. Good training tool. Can shoot kids.

KWA is coming out with new gas recoil M4's.

Functions exactly the same as real steel. Bolt even locks back and you have to press bolt release to reengage.

Better than buying a $1000 + Systema PTW.

I already play airsoft, so might as well.
