Legend of the Strongest Man, Kurosawa Vol. 06

"I said try and kill me if you can! Lets settle this! This is a matter of life and death! So I'm not going to go easy on you the slightest bit! I'll do everything I can in my power! I'll smear this in your eyes, mouths, ears, assholes! I swear to god, I'll shove this shit up your goddamn anus! I'll get right up in there, and mix your shit, WITH MY SHIT! I'M THE MUTHERUCKING HOWL'S MOVING CASTLE"

I like to think that some of the top pirates in the world (yonkou) they don't even bother with a bounty once they establish themselves as nobody can mess with them anyways.

I think they still have them Dark King was telling kizaru they should withdraw his wanted poster .
So they still have them but no one can touch them anyway plus if you could take down any off them it would better to be a pirate your self mostly likely get more money .

Because it's the sole thing you mentioned that people talk about with Bleach. There is very much a point in deconstructing why the series sucks, or why it doesn't, that doesn't involve Aizen.
That has absolutely nothing to do with what I was talking about. It was a fictitious example that for some reason you went off on a tangent on. I have to give you credit for your imagination I guess but your selective reading gets a D-.
replaced by Bakuman spin off
I will hold hostages.

EDIT:
You know, I can't believe I got wrapped up in a Wed argument. How the hell did that even happen?

Heheheheheheheh

Can you believe it actually manages to get better than that!? Shit gets insaaaaane.

On to volume 7 now, I never thought this would make me laugh so much especially after it started of so sad.

I like how he still has that bump in his head from volume 2.

Wait, for or against a Bakuman spin-off? And featuring who?
Are you trolling me?

The entire quote was in response to me telling you that discussion of Big Three isn't simply just a single sentence as I've had pretty massive discussions about Bleach on this very board. And then, you shrug it off as essentially stuff that isn't worth reading and suggests that it's rooted in complaining about Aizen. That ISN'T selective reading, that's straight up what you said whether you deny it or not.

Maybe if you make your point more clear, then there wouldn't even be an argument in the first place. The problem with trying to have worthwhile discussions about Big Three is that no one here wants to hear stuff like that and either take high praise as overanalystic or overrated effection, or criticism to be nerd rage or biased hate.

Looking back at the reviews, I'm glad I missed out on the early "crap-lations".

Bleach:

It's really too bad how the Fullbringer arc turned out. The Fullbringers and Ichigo having new powers had a lot of potential but things were executed poorly and you can tell the ranking drops had a major effect on the story as well (Kubo's interviews in this thread show more hints at this).

Hunter X Hunter 331:

I shake my head every time I read a review bashing the Chairman story line because based on most of the negative comments I see about it in this thread, it's seems like the only reason it's "bad" is because it doesn't have enough action in it. But what ever, different strokes and all that.

I forgot Killua was allowed to leave with Alluka vs fighting it out so them being at the hospital was a surprise. I'm still hoping Leorio wins somehow, but I'm not completely against Pariston winning either, as I'd like to see what he does with the ants.

Otherwise I'm looking forward to the results of the Chairman story line and if there will be any repercussions to healing Gon at this point (considering all we know about Alluka's powers now).

One Piece 652:

I'm kind of confused as to why "Clay Face" doesn't remember getting beaten/robbed by the Straw Hats? But otherwise the chapter was pretty funny.

But who the hell cares about Smoker and Tashigi? Bunch of "Team Rocket" characters who don't do anything but follow the main characters around. They could have just put them on one of the covers. Hurry up and show us Buggy damn it.

Amanchu! 23
I knew that her friends were really Aika and Akari. I kneeeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwww iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit! And I love this manga all that much for it. I need more of this in my veins.

Magico 1-5

Interesting and fun so far. Kind of like a mix between Fairy Tail and Negima. I like how learning new magic just requires you to go on sidequests, lol.

Bakuman doesn't deserve these sales. Also One Piece got amazing Mario kart DS like legs.

BTW, SnK is officially a better seller than Bleach volume wise.

Can we just replace Bleach with SnK? From now on the "big 3" comprises of Naruto, One Piece, SnK...

kidding, but Bleach seriously has one last chance to impress me in the next arc or i'll... do nothing hah!

Grading a series: Perfectly fine.

Grading an Arc: Sure, why not.

Grading a volume: dumb

Grading a chapter: super dumb

I'm sorry but no. Grading a volume is perfectly fine. You have 200 pages of contents, if it can't stand on its own then you failed as a writer.

That part was glorious. Kurosawa knows no shame.

This just doesn't look right!
I know, having SnK being compared to OP and Naruto is insulting to SnK

One Piece:

When's the last time he's even relevant to the story or even been remotely threatening to the Straw Hats, excluding the "let's have everyone kick Luffy's ass" arc? Wearing sun glasses isn't going to suddenly make him interesting.

Uhh, when Luffy saw him and ran away during the war...

Did you forget that Smoker prevented Luffy from advancing at Marineford without Hancocks help? He was a formidable opponent back then. It will be great to see Luffy take down a formidable opponent.

I thought about it and you're right. He always had an advantage on Luffy before because Luffy lacked haki to fight against his smoke but now that's gone.

I'm sure we'll get a nice build up showing off how much tougher Smoker is now though.

Is it too much to hope that Bleach's next arc will be the final arc? I like it, but it has gone on too long without much significant things happening. I want it Bleach to end with a bang and maybe Kubo kan start on something else.

Luffy never "won" against him, IIRC. He was saved by Dragon, then Ace, then avoid fight altogether. That was when he had a major disadvantage though.

If he is a Vice Admiral then he knows Haki as well which should be a nice counter. I imagine Logia like him able to use Haki could be pretty devastating since normally his smoke powers can't directly harm someone, with Haki its likely possible.

Legend of the Strongest Detective Kurosawa vol 7

A good volume. There really wasn't any epic fights like in volume 6 but that's expected. It's way too soon especially after volume 6. Beside you can't top shit throwing samurai that easily.

The detective parts were hilarious. They highlight my favourite part of the manga which is the stupidity of the cast and their illogical responses to everything. Kurosawa becoming a yakuza boss was awesome especially after the Ono misunderstandings. Also god damn at Nakane banging up two busty chicks at the same time, while Kurosawa is constantly running away from middle school punks

On another note, where is mah god damn Iris Zero? I want my sharingan powered girls.

EDIT:

The draw is strong.

Yea he never has plus Hancock also saved him from Smoker during the war.

could be interesting now since Luffy has Haki.

Bleach

It seems now like the entire arc was a contrivance to get Ichigo's powers back. It was not a very good twist in my opinion either, since it just involved some shinigami shooting him with reiatsu (which itself is largely the same plot device used to give Ishida his powers back after the Soul Society arc).

It would have been a lot better if he somehow absorbed Ginjo's shinigami powers after they fought to get them back.

This arc was not only to give Ichigo his powers back. It also developed his character from wanting to be a normal guy who can´t spirits (regular dead spirits and not shinigami, aka plus) to a person who has to have power if he wants to protect his family.

This arc also showed us the significance of the shinigami badge that was hinted at 400 chapters ago.

It also explained Chad (and to some point Orihime´s powers). It was mentioned 250 chapters ago that Chad has hollow like powers, and Hacchi (the fat vizard) told Orihime that she has similar powers to his. It was nice getting explanation about their powers.

We can take Ukitake and Shunsui´s convorsation, about how Ichigo grown them being able to notice, that Ichigo has been monitored by the shinigami all his life.

So this arc gave us quite a bit of explanations. And no it would not have been better if Ichigo stole Ginjou´s powers for 2 reasons:

1- Having Rukia stabbing him was tribute to the beginning of Bleach which was nice.

2- We saw that shinigami appreciated his action and being grateful. As mentioned in the manga, Ichigo´s actions changed them.

Unless Smoker has advanced dramatically, Luffy really should be able to beat him pretty easily. I just can't see how he can struggle with Smoker when everything is setting up for a showdown with Big Mam.

I mean Hancock pretty much treated Smoker like a joke in the war with her Haki.

Smoker still has that stone though, so it cant be that easy of a win

Well, if you're using the Whitebeard War as a measuring stick, Luffy looked like a joke compared to essentially everyone else there. I doubt that Luffy's training has dramatically boosted him to the point where he can take out a Vice-Admiral in one shot or something.

Smoker will just slap Luffy's ass with his metal rod

Wrong as usual, my dimwitted co-classmate. Now that Luffy has haki, he can seriously wipe the floor with him. Gear 2 + Gear 3 + Gigant Gattling Machine gun = gg. Though in a real fight, Oda would draw it out with various techniques. It'd be close, but Luffy's got this for sure.

Bleach
Bleach

Serious question. Does Kubo actually think those short flashbacks actually made up sympathetic towards the fullbringers? He keeps trying to push this idea that they're sad characters and that we should care but he's done nothing to make us feel that way. The fact that he devoted a whole chapter to Ichigo going to SS to get Ginjou's body...really? Are we supposed to see him as some fallen hero or something? Why does Ichigo himself even care?

That was not the purpose. They were not all sad. The only one who had a sad past is Jackie. Yukio killed his parents and took over the company, Riruka wanted to collect things, Kurtazuwa killed his wife to try his own powers. Ginjou was resentful of SS, and Tsukishima did as Ginjou told him since Ginjou saved him from his loneliness.

Am I the only one that think all the big boys are underwhelming this week considering this is their return after a long break?

Even Hunter x Hunter, and I am usually the most excited by it.

I don't think Luffy could take down Smoker easily or even moderately easily. We have never seen Smoker go all out, and I think that if they threw down for a full brawl, it wouldn't be as simple as "Oh I have haki now so everything's solved". Oh, and this is just a tease, if Smoker does intercept Luffy, the fight will be interrupted/stopped somehow. He'll be chasing Luffy for the entire series.

So what will he do if he goes all out? Give Luffy second-hand smoke?

The guy is a scrub and the only shit he can pull out is smoke camouflage and striking with the stone rod.

Absolutely. Oda has never given Luffy an "easy" boss opponent so i'm certain Luffy would have to go all out to defeat him. However, the advantage is definitely in Luffy's favor. Luffy has the speed advantage, the power advantage and close the distance with his Gomu Gomu powers, so fighting Smoker from a far is no biggie. We're not sure if Smoker has haki (we'll assume for now he doesn't for now) meaning in close quarters combat, he will have difficulty landing a hit on Luffy, especially if he's using the "Kenbunshoku Haki"and I haven't even talked about Gear 2 or 3. Either way, i'm 70% sure they won't have a full fight in the manga.

Hunter x Hunter was mostly a setup chapter this week, which I still found pretty good all things considered.

Wasn't there a statement about how everyone that's Vice-Admiral level know haki?

No way he is a scrub , he just spend the last 2 years at one of the worst parts in the NW.
I sure he power up plus if smoker can used his smoke to keep people physical in place who knows what else he can used if for.
He should also know about Haki , when luffy meet him again it should be first time they even.

We don't know what advantage luffy has over Smoker cause we never seen him in a real fight to tell the truth .
Plus for all we know he could learn some CP9 techs since he a VA and we saw them used it before.
Luffy might have Haki but it not perfect .

Did you not read my post? I already all of the advantages Luffy has over Smoker. Also, Luffy has mastered all 3 forms of Haki, Reyleigh has outright stated this.

Bleach

feels like am missing a chapter, how did we get here?

yep pretty much filler arc that felt similar to the bounto arc(anime filler) which was like yu yu hakusho sensui arc.

Naruto

Troll Flash back reminding us of the worst parts in naurto part 1.

Actually, I'm pretty sure he said he taught him the basics of all 3 forms of Haki. I'm sure he's great at it but there are probably pure haki-users out in the New World that would flat out destroy him (thinking someone like Shanks or Mihawk).

Dude luffy has not master anything ray said he will teach luffy the basic in 2 years.
He did it in a year and a half and then luffy said out right that his Haki in not perfect when he fought Hody.
Also how to hell do you know luffy is faster , stronger and is better in close combat than Smoker when we never saw him in a fight where he had to do anything.
Most of time we saw smoker he just used his logia power and did nothing else what so ever .

Still not like this matter cause if Smoker and Luffy = Grap and Roger they going to fight many more times during the manga.
Also Smoker was Luffy first fight before he enter the GL , Luffy fighting him as soon as they enter the NW should be fun if they fight.
