So I decided to skip the first edition bundle and go with a Wifi unit. I really can't justify spending $50 more for 3G, especially when a 4G/LTE version can't possibly be too far behind. I'm also not interested in Little Deviants at all.

Fan-tastic. :)
Then I might be able to use the mobile broadband SIM I got for free, I hope it's not carrier locked in Sweden.

Its a hassle having to order a new card. Just wish they would stick to one damned standard.

You can just cut a regular sim card down to the micro-sim size.

It'll be interesting to see;

- What the equivalenet of PSN games are on the Vita
- How they are discounted for PS+ members
- Exactly what we get access to on the Vita (will certain types of games that are now restricted become available to us? will new content (titles equivalent to PSN games) come to Vita only, or will there be new content that work on both PS3 and Vita?)

Right now there are so many subsections on the PSN store

Original
PS3 games
PSN games
PSN minis

Re-released/Emulated
PS2
PS1
other systems

It's digital. On the dummy boxes in EB Games it says 'Free digital copy of Wipeout 2048 when you sign up and top up with Vodafone' or something like that.

Sony really needs to inform us about the Vodafone thing. Free Wipeout when signing up with Vodafone sound good to me as long as their in no 24 month contract involved. Those pay as you go options in the US are perfect and i would be willing to upgrade to the 3G model if it means free Wipeout (which i'm going to buy anyway) by signing up for one month with Vodafone.

Yeah, I haven't been able to find any information on it. I was planning on getting the Wifi and Wipeout anyway so if this deal is reasonable enough I might as well upgrade. I have a feeling it won't be worth it though.

Not a biggie since 3g sucks here, but sony with it's AT&T exclusivity makes it impossible to use 3g in countries where AT&T don't work ... like here (brazil)

Another "region locked" thing ?

4G would be pretty pointless since there's no infrastructure for it in the UK or most of Europe as far as i know. Be a bit weird to produce a new model that they don't sell in what is traditionally their strongest market

How do you guys like Burnout or that Rickstar racer? Both Wipeout and Motorstorm are kind of hard for my slow reflexes (at least for the PS3 versions.)

I will check out Ridge Racer and Flatout. I loved the original Flatout on PC. It was pure redneck driving at its best.

Ridge Racer 2?

assumiing the question was related to a Vita download, RR2 isn't available except on the JPN store. So you'd be limited to RR1

I'm buying wipeout 2048 anyway, so not bothering with PSP wipeout. I have arctic edge and RR1 so looking forward to replaying them. I have Ridge Racer on vita too which is fine - very pretty, just a little lacking in content.

Now that I think about it, at least 50% of my PSP collection is made up of Japanese games so I guess that means I'm out of luck if I wanted to transfer some of them to a US Vita?

Yep, you can only have one account per Vita and the account is tied to the memory card too. So you would either need two memory cards and go through the rather annoying process of resetting it to factory settings to change accounts, or two memory cards and two Vitas.

I'm really thinking of just ordering an Asia/HK PS Vita especially since it's all but confirmed that it is locked to AT&T. I figured we already knew as much but it pains me Sony is not possibly thinking of unlocking it :/

edit: Plans destroyed lol, Playasia is out of stock

I remember an interview where Sony said it might be unlocked in the future

Yeah, I'll probably just keep those games for use on my actual PSP hardware when the urge to play them crops up. I certainly wasn't planning to convert my entire PSP library anyways, but there are a few JP games I wouldn't mind having on the Vita in DD format.

I thought I had seen an article shortly after the Japanese launch that you could use a different carriers SIM card by manually changing the APN settings.
It would still Docomo at the top but it wouldn't really be.

I wonder if same goes here.
Put in T-Mobile APN settings and it'd work?

I already have a Wifi Vita pre-ordered but I keep going back and forth on that First Edition bundle. The biggest plus I can see to that is getting my Vita a week ahead of official release but that's about it really. Though I would like to see Little Deviants. That does look like a neat game and I would be getting that for free. I'm going tomorrow to pre-order a 32 GB memory card for my Vita so I'll make my decision between now and then. The 100 extra for the First Edition bundle is what's holding me back. If it were what Canada's getting it'd be a no brainer. But as of right now for the launch period it's most likely going to be:

Wifi Vita
32 GB memory card
Uncharted
Rayman Origins
Gravity Rush
Dungeon Hunter for sure!
Also Ruin (I know it's name changed) for sure!
Possibly Escape Plan but still iffy
Disgaea 3-again undecided, I have to decide if giving that series another chance is worth it.
I thought too about trying one of the fighters but again I'm not sure..I've never been great at those games so there'd have to be a lot for me to justify it.

I do hope Tales of Innocence R makes it but I doubt it. I'd like to see Ragnarok Odyssey make it too and that seems to have a fair chance in my opinion. I'll definitely pick up Lord Of Apocalypse when it finally makes it as well.

There's no question there's more than enough for me to justify a Vita period..I sure am going back and forth a lot on that first edition bundle. Will make up my mind tomorrow.

I'm just waiting for Amazon to throw up the starter kit bundle with the case and headphones and all of that. So far I've got the Wifi edition preordered and the 32 gig memory card. My body is ready but my mind isn't. This is going to be awesome! Also, I have a dumb phone and I barely have touch on that so it will be very fun to play with this and dust off relics in Uncharted. Sorry gaming jesus.

I'm getting it. Mainly because i'm going on a trip that exact week. But $50 for GPS+the option of 3G seems worth it. And the way some games are using 3G for asynchronous gameplay is legitimately interesting. Like Unit 13 auto-updating with your friend's progress and challenges, Ruin alerting you to castle attacks. They're doing cooler stuff than I expected when 3G was first announced.

To anyone who has a japanese 3G vita: what's the story on GPS? Can you use it (+wifi) for Near without 3G service? Or are they tied together?

Gravity Rush is a launch title?

I don't think so. Launch Window.

So my current Launch Day is looking like this:

Vita First Edition Bundle
Vita Cradle
Hot Shots Golf
Wipeout 2048
Uncharted: GA
Either Blazblue or UMvC3 (Can't decide between the two)

If Super Stardust is cheap I will grab that too.

That's exactly how I feel. I'm legitimately stoked for the 3G aspects.

The 3G is not important... you always can tether from a phone (and if you pay 250 for a Vita, you'll probably have a phone able to tether). My complain is the lack of GPS in the Wifi. Yes, we have that skyhook thing, but some game features (like the ones on Monster Radar) could be different.

So maybe I'll go with a 3G unit... but without 3G.

Even if you tether, anyone who has AT&T is paying for that also. It's not surprising they do not have the GPS chip in wifi though, really no need to have it.

I'm curious if there is any other wifi devices that have the GPS chip?

I don't pay for AT&T's tethering service on my iPhone because it would cancel my grandfathered unlimited data plan. So this whole instant hotspot concept is lost on me.

If I can get by on only using the small 250 meg data package for asynchronous multiplayer and other gaming alerts on my Vita, do that.

I remember reading this article and having my boss tell me to not use it :D lol

is your jailbroken?

yeah I'm gonna grab the 2gb to be safe and see how that last me for the whole month.

that's why people are getting the bundle? i guess i didn't really think about that. that really doesn't matter to me since i've been waiting years for this, but i guess that's cool if others want it early.

I also like the looks of the case now that there have been better pics of it plus can probably flip Little Deviants and the 4GB memory card to make it that I'm not paying a premium just to have a week early (even then the things that come with the first edition bundle are easily worth $50)
