I started a super hero novel this year, but petered out because of the creative writing class I'm in that already had me writing a lot. I thought I could Michael Bay it out with tropes and stupidity, but even that took too long. Or maybe it was my standards. Iuno.

It was really good, no pain or anything. I'm keeping a recovery diary on livejournal, there are thousands of recovery blogs out there and anything that looks horrifying is usually due to that person not following instructions. My left eye is definitely lagging in recovery than my right though, which is normal.

It really depends, the doctors will tell you when you get evaluations. I was at -7 nearsighted with the beginnings of astigmatism. People with worse sight have had it done. The worse your sight is, the longer the recovery time with PRK. LASIK, however, has near instant recovery.

I really need to look into it. The risks etc.. I have bad vision, but rarely wear my glasses unless going out for certain occasions, and contacts never lasted for me (just so annoying).

The risks for your specific treatment will be clearly outlined once you get some evaluations, where they tell you which surgery option is best for your eyes. If you're able to get on fine without wearing your glasses, you probably don't need surgery yet. In my case I want to be physically active without glasses/contacts hindering.

lol yeah... my daughter was born with severe acid reflux and the doctors hadn't diagnosed it for 6 weeks. Those 6 weeks were pure torture.

I'm very sorry your family had to go through that. Babies can't tell you symptoms so doctors/parents can only go by signs. 6 weeks sounds like an extremely long time for a diagnosis though.

As badly-written as most harlequin romance novels are, they still hit their end goal of making the targeted reader (let's say middle-aged housewife) feel something because of the book.

If I ever find myself in the situation where I need to write like that, I'd like to be good at it.

I guess the key to writing good romance is to read some books that do it WELL and see how they build it up.

And while there are some (pure) romance books that do it well, the best romance I've seen were in books where that was only a side-story and not the main show.

The best romance is subtle, without a lot of drama and tossing about.

Thanks for that, I definitely will look more into it. Things start to get blurry at about an arms reach, so if I hold up a business card extending my arm, it's hard to make out the text.

Think about the tropes you wanted to use in your novel, and try applying some of the ideas on this page to those tropes. It might give you some new inspiration.

You know, I'm probably the only person on earth who has never seen Louis CK's standup. I'll have to remedy that. As far as children, I'm done. I've proven that I'm a girl making factory and I know that payment for someone I've wronged in my past will haunt me in giving me a third if I were to try again.

Thank you. It was 8 years ago, so those wounds have healed. She's a perfectly healthy beautiful young girl now. 6 weeks was a long time. After multiple trips to our primary care provider, we finally said screw it and marched into the emergency room and said "figure out why this child wont stop crying or we're not leaving".... they did.

And yeah, my uncle has had FIVE girls in a row, he's been trying to have a boy ever since his 2nd/3rd babies which were twin girls (who're now around 17-18), and he still has had no luck, even recently (1yr old baby gal).
