It was a shit result but there's no point in getting fussy about it. It could be worse, and despite the lack of chances and goals, it's not like they outplayed us. We had something like 70% possession.

Our defense was watertight, but it really didn't need to be. We just strolled around the midfield and could have used an extra man attacking the goal. Surprised it wasn't Coates that came off for Carroll.

Speaking of Coates, I thought he had a fantastic game. He gave away one foul near the box, but otherwise showed great composure and some excellent skills on the ball as well.

So you have no riposte to my argument and admit your post was a load of crap then.
Yes, I have no riposte to someone who has just made such an impassioned defence of Carroll. But I don't admit to being full of crap, Carroll just didn't play well.
At the end of the day, it's not really his fault we just have no wingers who can cross.

I'm not even mad...

Too many average players at Liverpool. Let's be honest the money has been wasted. 5th place is a good finish on this evidence.

Fifth place would suggest one of Arsenal or Chelsea are worse than us (nevermind Newcastle).

Liverpool wingers had no trouble crossing it to Carroll in the game vs Newcastle.

I think you have strikers who can't score.

Carroll gets most of his goals with his feet, but we weren't getting anything in to any part of his body, so he never had the chance to score.

It was a disappointing game. Onward and upward eh.

Coates was fantastic. One of the only positive things to take away from this so-called game. Carragher made a few blunders in the back, but our defense in general had very little to do.

Should've been Carra in my opinion. He's the most defensive defender we've got and he wasn't needed. That was clear by 55 minutes. Coates looked great though I agree.

Kenny has always seemed a bit cautious since he came back to Liverpool, but the loss of Lucas seems to have sent that instinct into overdrive - I cannot believe that Henderson, Adam and Gerrard would not be more attacking than that if let loose, not to mention the completely unnecessary back 3.

Singing YNWA at a party doesn't make him not a Manc. Loads of Celtic fans sing YNWA every game and a ton of them are Mancs (a lot are Liverpool fans too I know).
YNWA used to be sang at Old Trafford anyway so you should just add that link to the hordes and hordes of evidence that Howard Webb is a biased, Man United loving, Liverpool hating, knob.

An aside, I seem to recall Coates saying he wanted to be called by the English pronunciation, like "coats," as his surname is actually from his Scottish ancestry, is it not? Yet the commentators continue use the Spanish pronunciation, "co-wa-tez."

Is he going to be our new Kuyt? Is it Koit? Is it Kite? Is it Kout? NOBODY FUCKING KNOWS (it's Kout).

Sorry to bring this back up, but: I wear an American large T-shirt, 6'1" ~170. For England jersey sizes is that 42 or 44? Umbro sizes in particular, if anyone has experience with it. Thanks!

Some creativity up front would be nice. When this real pic january is over I'm changing my avatar to whomever we sign in this window. Gotta support them new players. Just like I supported Carroll.

We could really use that Spanish waiter's tactical advice right now, I'd say.

People forget this, but Rafa's reds went through this type of period as well. When the side was being built up, we had many games like this where we kept possession but didn't score. Remember the English media slating "TWO DEFENSIVE MIDFIELDERS! TWO! ARGH!", before it all came together in the 82 point season, Liverpool often had these issues. It's typical of a transitional side under a new manager. Like it or not, we must have patience.

Well yeah, there's always next season. Or season after that one...

Pretty good point here. I've got loads of patience myself. Really liked a lot of what I saw out there though, with Adam's passing, Coates and our two fullbacks playing exceptionally well.

I definitely think some are being too harsh on Kenny for the draw, certainly there were mistakes but with the team selection what more could have been done? Every attacking player sans Shelvey was used and whilst Shelvey could have perhaps done something in the end he is a 19 yr old central midfielder - had he started it would have meant 4 CMs in the starting lineup. The players & formation chosen completely dominated possession and really there should have been more on the field being done.

As far as I know, Umbro large is 42/44. I'm 6'2 and 150, I take a Medium in Umbro shirts which is 38/40.

We all know most of Liverpool's forward players are rubbish, though. Downing, Kuyt, Carroll, Adam and Henderson always struggle to create chances and I think everybody knew this game would be a draw. Liverpool don't really have any pace in attack and they have no guile either.

Indeed. I think many people are simply running out of patience in the face of the constant taunts from the Mancs and the rest of England at large. They forget that a year ago we were almost bust. Gone. Totally. They also don't understand that we are not Chelsea or City, who have tons of cash to throw around and inflate the transfer market. Nor are we Arsenal or United, who have had long term stability (Wenger's initial back 4 and goalie came from the Graham era) and in United's case, long term spending. Spurs have taken YEARS to put this team together. Remember when Bale was a failure and Spurs never won with him in the team hm? Remember that?

Patience. I know it's hard (I lose it with the reds constantly) especially after seeing the club get so far under Rafa only to have it dismantled by those Yank bastards. But remember where we are. We're close, and remember where we were 53 weeks ago, so far away. We're almost at Wembley! We've got the Mancs in the Cup! AND we've got some more big games in the league where we could take points of those above us. We also seem to play better in those games. Chins up guys. I remember being at Anfield when we played Bolton under Allerdyce. Same game, except Bolton made a 'rope a dope' style charge in the last 5 minutes and got a goal from a deflected header. We lost 0-1, it seemed like the end of the world. But it wasn't. Come on, let's keep going.

Usho. Please tell me honestly. Were not Spurs' forward players rubbish last season? I remember they famously couldn't hit a barn door for 2/3rds of the campaign. Now look at them.

Patience.

Pretty happy with United today. We missed some good chances in the first half which would have really killed the game off but on the whole I think we did well. I thought Rooney and Nani weren't at their best today though. Valencia was just superb.

Also, Rafael played a whole game! Yay! Got the clean sheet too which is nice since we've been leaking goals like crazy lately.

Zat Knight should have been sent off early on though. Another really poor decision at Old Trafford.

Henderson's been doing fine.

Not really, I think we create 3rd or 4th highest amount of chances in the league. Today we were poor in that regard but it isn't usually the problem. Our problem has been conversion.

Good job we're signing Cavani!

The loss of Lucas and Suarez has really hit the chances created by Liverpool, it was obvious that Suarez would be a big loss to Liverpool's attack but from what i've seen Lucas has been just as missed, even if his contribution to attacks wasn't so obvious. Perhaps his presence simply allowed for more runs from midfield by other players? Certainly Adam's from (though he was not bad today) has been very poor since the injury to Lucas. I suppose the absences of Lucas, Gerrard and Suarez over the season at least provide an excuse for Liverpool's disappointing season so far.

Ade was onside and the corner was a goal kick. Refs killing us again just like at Stoke.

Even then we should have won, Hennesey had a decent game and Wolves defended well, but we had enough chances to win and we need to convert more. Lennon missed an absolute sitter.

Two points dropped for sure. Very disappointed, must do better against City next week or we can kiss our title hopes goodbye.

I have a hard time believing that.

He's the most frequently offside player in the league, but in this instance, just like against Stoke and Chelsea, he was at least 2 yards onside.

We really need to improve our set-pieces, it's obvious we don't practice them and they are starting to cost us. To have as many as we did and do nothing with any of them is a concern.

I have no idea why none of the Liverpool fans are looking at Barrios. Bargain price for a good/great striker.

I'm not so sure about that. I have a hard time believing those rumors that we would sell him for around €12m. We'd be fucked without Barrios if Lewandowski was injured. I think he'll only go this month if the offer is a really good one (at least 15m+).

Yeah definitely true, we really miss Ledley when it comes to defending set pieces and Harry needs to take a look at defending them better.

I think Samba would be a great signing for us, but I don't think we can compete with moneybags PSG in terms of wage structure so he might not sign for us. Hoillet would be another worth looking at, hate to do it to Blackburn, but both would suit us.

Wotcha, lads! :D
Missed the games today. Was still asleep after getting in this morning instead of last night from work. :-/
Shame to see the lads drop points at home, but I'm fine with a Top 4 finish at the end of it all. :D

Damn! That's fucking awesome! :O
