What is that?
Yutori-chan. It's five or ten minute episodes of things. Mostly cute, sometimes.

Imagine what their series would be like if they spent all the budget they use on each OP for the actual episodes.Nisemonogatari 2
Ain't no OP like a good Shaft OP.
Now she looks like any other female moody protagonist. Plus red eyes.I really look how NOT-CLAMP the Blood-C movie looks; definite improvement over the Clampish look of the TV show. The more we get away from Clamp's style, the better.

Fuck the haters, this show was awesome.

Code Geass Ep. 03
Wow, they actually showed Kallen's nipples, if only for a single frame. They tried oh so hard to not show them, but then I guess they were like, "Well, I guess we'll toss the fans a bone(r)." Oh Goro Taniguchi, how far you have fallen.Kallen just happens to go to the same school as Lelouch. Oh, and now she is on the student council, along with Lelouch. *rolls eyes* I look forward to future high school/student council hi-jinks.
It's okay, I'm joking. You guys played great today and deserved the win. We'll get you next year. ^_^

I can tell you it won't be like what you expect
I could give a better reason if I read Nise or it finished airing, but I haven't so I'll refrain on that.Well, I've yet to see a proposal that wouldn't ruin the adaptation for most of the intended audience...
Nise is awesome so far, you all are crazy.

It had other problems, but also, it didn't have the wacky editing to go with the visual minimalism it used.PenguinDrum had a pretty clear signature and it ended less than a month ago.
Or maybe the show was never about romance in the first place and we all just got trolled (or the author literally just changed their mind).Maybe, but I can't see--or maybe I just don't want to see--the show's continual laying of rails to be for nothing. Open ended threads, when given time like that, they just suck.
cg burgers are the best tasting

CG burgers are the most sinful.
I like that Kraehe design a lot more than the final one. Her hair waves a lot more naturally than the Broomstick design she got while keeping her elegant yet messy look.
Yeah, I mean, they spent 3 episodes/1 volume setting up this love triangle with the flashback sequence and there are a lot of trappings of a romance show. But if it's just a sports show, it seems to have changed I would say somewhere during the "recruitment" phase.About romance, definitely not. But it not even aiming to feature much romance is an interesting point. I should catch myself, but I go into genre with its usuals in mind, expect and look for certain methods of development. I might actually be seeing stuff that's not there, though... I'm pretty certain in Chihayafuru's case. It feels wired far too deeply for it to have simply been a troll or sudden case of cold feet.
more sinful than a cheap advertising tie in
You might wanna checkout Gintama.I just watched Yuru Yuri, any similar recommendation? I need something funny with hijinks. Evangelion and Clanned left me more annoyed than happy.

Code Geass made me crave Pizza Hut!
Japanese Pizza Hut, since all references to Pizza Hut were removed in the English version broadcast on Cartoon Network.
Found these while checking the extras on the DVDs:

I don't think Chihayafuru is "just" a sports show, or "just" a romance show for that matter; it seems pretty interested in balancing the karuta games with the relationships.
Pizza Hut is pretty terrible now, even for a chain restaurant.
To me, what comes to mind are the anonymous crowds and many of the (sometimes quite) detailed but otherwise static backgrounds.Visual minimalism?
...what?
For sports shows, especially anime, there are shows obsessed with the sport and there are shows that use sport as an excuse to get the characters together or for some other form of character development. Of course, it's spectrum, but generally I look at how long a show will spend explaining the rules or play of a game as an indicator of whether or not the show is sport focused or character focused. But every series has to be neatly categorized under one header that sums up the entirety of its existence with no crossover allowed.

Personally, I see Chihayafuru, barring the "prequel" episodes, as more like Giant Killing or OoFuri than Cross Game.Chihayafuru is focused on both: episode 13 mostly eschewed karuta for character development, while episode 14 was all about the game. Be careful that you don't try too hard to simplify things for the sake of easy classification.
You could go on living your daily life and ignore its rather insignificant and somewhat exploitative existence.Space Pirates 1:It looks like I'm going to have to follow this one, because how can I not watch a show like this?
