Great episode. I loved how it transitioned back towards the dealing with the issues of raising a child, and touched upon dealing with illness. Daikichi's concern and the way he freaked out about things felt very genuine, and I loved the touch of the art making it clear how he had been losing sleep and not paying attention to his appearance. I think episodes like this one are where the show really shines (although I've loved each episode).

I could give a better reason if I read Nise or it finished airing, but I haven't so I'll refrain on that.
What I can say of the Nise adaptation, however, is that it's inferior to Bake and doesn't possess the same charm because of a worse staff noticeably and the source material perhaps being worse than Bake possibly.
Nisemonogatari has been probably at least as entertaining as the latter half of the first series, for me. Like, I thought Nadeko's arc and character weren't that great anyway, her conversation now was at least somewhat entertaining. If you just smashed all of Aryaragi's phone conversations together and called it an episode I'd probably still like it better than the snake arc.
My only big problem with the two episodes so far are that they're brazen : ( It hasn't hit the highs of Bakemonogatari yet, so I'd rate it lower for now, but I still love some talking.

The mashup of Ready and Change was pretty awesome but I was bummed that their new song was mostly reused animation. All in all a pretty nice end for the series.

This show is starting a bit slow for sure, but at the same time I find it pretty acceptable given that its a 2 cour anime. I appreciate that the main character is being eased into the situation rather than simply being thrust into pirate life, I feel like the foundation and the setup for the show are improved because of how we are being introduced. It's very much a different approach from something like Lagrange which jumped right into the action immediately. I really enjoyed the scene with mother, nothing like a little bonding over laser guns.

Princess Tutu 22: Uh... what?
This is the first time the plot twists in Tutu have been genuinely surprising. I'm at a loss for words.
This shit just got too meta for my mind to absorb it.
I thought the "those who accept fate will get happiness; those who defy fate will get glory" was just dressing. That a perfect way to summarise both cours of this show, if my guesses are correct. I wasn't expecting the writers to pull a Matrix up like that. I kinda want to hate this development but it has been hinted at before. It will be interesting to see what they come up with.

It had other problems, but also, it didn't have the wacky editing to go with the visual minimalism it used.
Or maybe the show was never about romance in the first place and we all just got trolled (or the author literally just changed their mind).

About romance, definitely not. But it not even aiming to feature much romance is an interesting point. I should catch myself, but I go into genre with its usuals in mind, expect and look for certain methods of development. I might actually be seeing stuff that's not there, though... I'm pretty certain in Chihayafuru's case. It feels wired far too deeply for it to have simply been a troll or sudden case of cold feet.

Oh look, an anime original case where the Detective Boys stumble upon a crime with a really obvious solution. I mean, at least Megure got to be awesome in this episode and essentially figured everything out, but the killer was so obvious with the way she acted and had ridiculous motives. And the whole 'crucial piece of evidence was stolen by a crow' thing was silly. Eh, it's the first filler episode with Haibara, so I guess it's historic?

I like that Kraehe design a lot more than the final one. Her hair waves a lot more naturally than the Broomstick design she got while keeping her elegant yet messy look.

Yeah, I mean, they spent 3 episodes/1 volume setting up this love triangle with the flashback sequence and there are a lot of trappings of a romance show. But if it's just a sports show, it seems to have changed I would say somewhere during the "recruitment" phase.

I don't think Chihayafuru is "just" a sports show, or "just" a romance show for that matter; it seems pretty interested in balancing the karuta games with the relationships.
Pizza Hut is pretty terrible now, even for a chain restaurant.

This is true. I actually think they've even gotten worse than Dominos, and that's saying a lot considering how bad Dominos used to be.

great fun high episode with some funky tunes but the show really did take a bit of a drop after ep5 with some decent to meh episode but with only episode 7 being bad

To me, what comes to mind are the anonymous crowds and many of the (sometimes quite) detailed but otherwise static backgrounds.
For sports shows, especially anime, there are shows obsessed with the sport and there are shows that use sport as an excuse to get the characters together or for some other form of character development. Of course, it's spectrum, but generally I look at how long a show will spend explaining the rules or play of a game as an indicator of whether or not the show is sport focused or character focused.

Chihayafuru is focused on both: episode 13 mostly eschewed karuta for character development, while episode 14 was all about the game. Be careful that you don't try too hard to simplify things for the sake of easy classification.

Personally, I see Chihayafuru, barring the "prequel" episodes, as more like Giant Killing or OoFuri than Cross Game.

But Cross Game had an entire story arc which mostly eschewed the romance elements for focus on the on the field action. Chihayafuru has a mix of both, much like something like Cross Game does. It does get more into the technical details than something like Cross Game, but the romance elements are important to. Compare that to Ookiku Furikabutte, and the difference between the two should be clear.

Lilika was one of your party members in Rogue Galaxy, for anyone who didn't play that game. Anyways, this whole episode was pretty much setup. It looks like I'm going to have to follow this one, because how can I not watch a show like this?
