Code Geass Ep. 16

Boobies! At least they didn't bother trying to cover them this time in a half-assed manner.
Mao is going to survive, isn't he? -_-

Flower declaration of your heart - Ep2

This show is pretty entertaining. Aside from the awesome backgrounds and the dramatic music, the show also seems to handle humor and pacing pretty well. I like how the characters are all aware that the situation is sort of ridiculous, but a lot of the dramatic beats and characterizations play off of the fact that they're treating the situation in a matter-of-fact way. Hopefully the series keeps up in quality.

Rinne no Lagrange 2

Still in the setup phase, but I'm definitely seeing some hot blooded outburst potential with Madoka. Probably gonna stick with this all the way through.

Phi Brain 15

Now we just have Gammon's puzzle and we will be back to Kaito. I loved the focus on the other characters and the touching moment with this puzzle really changed my opinion on characters. Still quite an awesome series. Loved it.

Sailor Moon 38

Really meh episode all around (and at times really derpy in a Kanon 02 kind of way). No developments other than one insanely shitty one, with
Rei finally giving up on Mamoru. I guess stubble man is good enough for her.
It’s a valuable life lesson really. Lower your expectations folks and you too can live a happy and fulfilling life.

Gotta say I’m already tired of the mixing up some other senshi for Sailor Moon gag. Get the feeling I will be seeing this one a few more times this season (but hopefully not after).

Hoping it gets back on track soon enough, these literally do nothing episodes are hard to stomach after the fireworks went off a few episodes ago. The ending of the episode would give that impression but I’ve been led astray by end of episode developments going nowhere the episode following, several times within this series.

When the hell is Minako actually going to get involved? She has literally been completely irrelevant since her debut into the show itself. It’s a huge let down.

Usagi Drop 11:
Great stuff. I wasn't sure what way the final episode would go, but I think that handled things very well. It brought everything full circle in a nice way and just allowed the characters to showcase what made the series great all along. It was simple, but effective. I feel like I've experienced a truly one of a kind show here.

Same.

I've had much bad experience with modern mecha shows in the past few seasons (Infinite Stratos, Strike Witches (lol), Star Driver and Guilty Crown to name a few).

Ended up dropping all of them.

It's not a genre that I invest much time in and whenever I do decide to check one out it always seems like such a waste of time!

The only 3 mecha shows that I've actually enjoyed are:

-Gurren Lagann
-Code Geass
-Evangelion

Will look in to some more late 90's/early 00's shows at some point.
Macross Zero
Escaflowne
Rahxephon
Eureka Seven
Full Metal Panic The 2nd Raid
Infinite Ryvius (same director as Code Geass, but the 2 shows share almost nothing in common )

If you liked Code Geass you might also like Gun x Sword. Same director/character designer.

Lagrange 2

So far so good. The story itself is nothing unique so far, but with everything being handled pretty skillfully and it keeping up a lighthearted atmosphere, the total package is very entertaining. I'm pretty happy with the music so far as well, there have been a couple themes in there that I have enjoyed. Oh yeah and it certainly has the best OP this season., visuals for it are top notch, and the song itself is great too.

Code Geass Ep. 16

Even with having had Suzaku's super human abilities spoiled, that was ridiculous. O_o Mao better be fucking dead for real this time. :\

Bakemonogatari 15

Exciting and well-directed episode. Good character work for Araragi and managed to tie together what themes this show had into a satisfying package. My only complaint would be that the ending dragged a little.

Now that I've seen these three extra episodes, I understand the opening of Nise better, as there are a lot of callbacks to these in what's aired so far. It's also very apparent how watered down Nise's direction is compared to what I got here. Hopefully Shaft can pony up the staff who made Bake work for the movie.

Bakemonogatari 13

There were a lot of cries of "Araragi was never this much of a pedo!" after the first episode of Nise, but he gropes Hachikuji pretty hard at the beginning of this one.

No but see, back then it was classy pedo. It had a purpose and method to it. Now there's no clear pattern framing the pedo so obviously it is much filthier and crude.

I can't say the thought ever even occurred to me.

Prude.

Rinne no Lagrange 2

anime needs more protag's like madoka. the op's still owns.

No they don't. Isekai no Monogatari had a similar protagonist and it gets annoying real fast.

Is your definition of an extremely hot girl shoulder-length green hair, expressionless kuudere, extremely pale, and made of alien coral beings?

Actually no. I wouldn't define her as 'hot' as anytime throughout the series. I liked her character design though and it's very distinctive.

But then it wouldn't be sexual harassment.

There's rape and then there's 'rape-rape'.

Rinne no Lagrange-
Really liking everything so far. Villains are atleast a little bit fleshed out in regards to their interactions. They're not mustache-twirling yet. I like the MC so far. OP and ED are fantastic. Probably the best this season. Biggest worry is animation quality. It already looks borderline and I can easily see there being a big drop in later episodes.

The biggest problem with Code Geass is that it depends almost entirely on it's cliffhanging and trainwrecking to work. You can basically only watch it once in a lifetime, once you know what is going to happen next it loses almost all of it's appeal.

That's why I haven't watched the anime version of Death Note. After reading the manga I realized something similar.

Rinne no Lagrange 2

This episode wasn't as exciting as the first, since it slowed down to let the characters stand around and spout technobabble at each other. Fortunately it didn't get too bogged down in that, or in the touches of angst it threw in. It helps that Madoka is such a silly, likable protagonist. If the show can keep up the attractive visual design and the sweet mecha fights, and avoid taking itself too seriously, it'll be a keeper.

The OP is already a keeper, of course. Super-stylish.

The more I think about it the more I realise Rinne no Lagrange is the anime I'm having most fun with this season. It's the only one that has actually lingered on my mind way after watching, at least.
hanako suxxors.
Dresden go whine to Shizune at least she can tolerate your hate.
Adolescence of Utena

Wow at everything. I cant believe it's all over @_@

http://i.imgur.com/IeTlR.gif

I wasn't expecting the movie to be set in an alternate reality. Finding out that Touga was just a figment of Utena's imagination was pretty crazy. That whole scene was so amazing.

Not to forget Utena TRANSFORMING IN TO A FUCKING CAR!

Everything about the final scenes were just insane.

Overall this has been a great and very memorable ride. Loved every character in one way or another. The revelations were also fantastic along with the execution.

The most FABULOUS Anime of all time, and that will ever exist.

Some crazy people insist that Code Geass is more fabulous than Utena.

Those people are wrong.

Moretsu Pirates: The most promising show of the season. In a far-flung future where humanity has spread out across the stars, long-standing conflict has existed between the Galactic Empire and the frontier worlds. In order to stand against their overwhelming odds, the frontier worlds have adopted a policy of legalizing piracy. The main character is a strongly independent young high school girl with so far none of the obvious foils of her kind. The story is light-hearted, while still maintaining good pacing and action. Pretty much the best thing about the series is despite the collection of standard characters, the show has yet to go for any of the usual tropes but instead actually uses the cast to interesting effect. Plus Marika has an awesome mom.

Rinne no Lagrange: The other show about an independent young high school girl who is thrust into a situation where she has to become the most vital part of her hierarchical circle- just add mecha. While the mecha designs are pretty nice, and the music is not bad, the story itself is rather slow in pacing and frankly... not really all that interesting. By now we already know what to expect in such shows where the unassuming HS girl becomes the most important character, and there are at least three of such shows this season alone. The problem is Lagrange seems to stick too hard to the standard formula, thus making it completely un-noteworthy. Though the intro suggests potentially interesting future developments, it's a question of whether the viewer will be willing to stick around long enough to see them unfold. But at least the OP is the prettiest and most colorful OP in a long time.
I agree with everything you've said about these two series, except that you got them backwards. Bodacious Pirates is the one that's slow and boring and dull and shit.
Princess Tutu 13

Wonderful ep. Looking forward to wherever the series leads me next.
Edel ; ;
You are gonna end up finishing the show before I do.

They wasted no time in introducing the three female pilots from the OP and ED. She reminded me of Tomo from Seikon no Qwaser for some reason. Though did they forget to mention what happened with the first dude pilot? Red haired one, Iz, if I recall is cool as well as the one already there, Array. I hope they dont take a back seat in the plot or just serve as fodder for the girls to beat up.

The music and the actual fight scenes continue to be a highlight, especially how clean and crisp the visual, and animation style is.

You should watch Kiddy Grade.
It has a little bit of mecha but mostly its just awesome characters with powers and the main girl has a lipstick whip.

9/10 people agree that lipstick ehips are rather keen.

I keep seeing Michelle from R.O.D.

Space Pirates 2:

This is supposed to be a 26 episodes series, so I'm not surprised they are taking a casual pace. What I'm most impressed by is how little fanservice there is in this show, something you would not expect from something which was originally called Miniskirt Space Pirates. Well, the anime version is renamed Bodacious Space Pirates so maybe the studio has their own ideas in mind for how this will go.

In many ways this show is almost exactly the polar opposite of RnL. RnL has action almost immediately and has way less fanservice than the Aika animes. This show has surprisingly little action, preferring to focus early on with developing the characters, and has just about no fanservice at all.

I'm still not sure what they are planning to do with this show, but I'm liking the relaxed pacing right now. Most of the other shows I'm watching right now have pacing ranging from frenetic to lightspeed, so this is a nice change of pace.

Oh also, with Rinne no Lagrange, it's gonna be a two-parter.

First half (12 episodes) is this season, the second half is for Summer (July). So i'm pretty pumped.

No they don't. Isekai no Monogatari had a similar protagonist and it gets annoying real fast.
Madoka and Kenshi aren't similar characters, and they're both from very different shows. The main reason Kenshi gets annoying is because he's incredibly selfless and pretty much the "perfect" character in the show, thus, making him lack any personality. And actually, Kenshi has few similarities with others because of this, especially your average, generic harem protagonist.

More protagonist like Madoka isn't a bad thing who's the typical exuberant, genki girl.

Sailor Moon 39

Back to back episodes with the similar theme of winter wonderland.
The Moon
is more bizarre than Europe, what an odd favorite sport they have.

This episode unlike the last was pretty enjoyable. The theme of the episode was actually really enjoyable and set up a pretty awesome fight scene and the classiest sideboob fanservice I’ve seen in quite a while.

They actually managed to make the side characters pretty interesting this week and managed to work the theme into the structure of the episode itself which made all the difference in the world between the last episode and this one

But really what put the episode over the top was the phrase from Dies Irae. So utterly bizarre and yet competely awesome.

PAEATl.jpg

Hahaha at that ending. Now that was some funny stuff. Amazing use of sudden silence for comedic effect.

Aquarion Evol 3

Well I think I really like the series...beyond the fact that its a guilty crown reunion of main va's... Amata is cool and just so unconventional with the others at the school. The simulation was fun. I hope the song always plays when they make a union, it never gets old. Also, the opening and ending song are nice, they have some really nice music and visuals selected.

I double dipped on the bluray because it has a pretty box.
I think i bought all three versions of it. I really love this show for some reason.
Michelle and Yomiko are so :cajun.
Did you get it when they did the sale? If you bought it full price I salute you sir. I want it, but it's out of my price range. At least I have the pretty book-dvd-case-thing.

Oh wow so I missed the Ergo Proxy debate earlier. And yes I agree that it was pretentious up the ass. I shouldn't have to read a fucking philosophy book in order to understand what is going on. Then the story had the additional sin of being boring.

Excluding the gender, Madoka exhibits many of the same traits. That was the main point of the first episode, showing how selfless she was. She also is for the most part in the first episode pretty much perfect at everything.

Maybe he's an M. Some people are, deep down that is.

by definition, sexual harassment is undesired
this may be a case of anime derivative definitions

It wasnt hard to follow really
and most anime is just as if not more pretentious

Mirai Nikki 14: Honestly, I had a boner throughout that episode.

Mirai Nikki 14:

I regret to inform you that Yuno is Mai Yandere Waifu. She's MINE. Get your filthy hands off her, or I'll kill you!

...

I mean, what was I saying? Right.

No surprises this episode, other than the alteration to the room
that Akise, Mao, and Kousaka are trapped in we saw previously.
In the original manga, Kousaka's phone is an ordinary flip phone like what Yuno and Yukki have. In the anime, Kousaka is given an iPhone instead. Somehow I find this appropriate since Kousaka is kind of a douchebag.
