I think they're setting a bad precedent by pricing Uncharted at $50. I chose not to buy RE Revelations at $50, and I'm teetering on the edge of choosing to do the same with Uncharted.

The bad precedent is the fact people are still buying it. It's been the #1 Vita game for a while on Amazon, the $50 doesn't seem to be turning people away.

I'll still be getting it day 1 shrug.

I think I am going to do just that. I really want Uncharted but I just don't think I can stomach the $10 extra fee. I just don't see why that game requires the extra money. Maybe I am missing something.

Same here. I just don't see it warranting a price premium. These are the types of games that are expected on the Vita, so we shouldn't be expecting a 10 dollar premium on the types of games we already assumed would be somewhat commonplace on the platform. I'm excited to play the game for sure, and I love the Uncharted series, but I will wait until it's on sale or goes down in price.

Some games have a higher budget that needs to be paid, that can sometimes mean a higher price title.

I'm a RE fan so I had to buy RE for the 3ds

yay my case came in!!!!

That case is beautiful! I went with a soft case myself, but yours is so professionally awesome!

Had some trouble with the update as well today- the system finished downloading it and then hit me with an error message. Ended up checking for the update and installing it a second time with no problem.I'm definitely excited about the store updates- any word on when new demos are coming? I know Wipeout is very soon... (JPSN)

Search seems broken for the moment. Any impressions on the Sony Vita Protective film? I just pre-ordered some from Amazon. Is it nightmare-ish to install?

Yeah, that's more accurate. People vote with their dollars, so unfortunately it puts people like me in an awkward place.

I'll just have to wait, unless a deal pops up nearer to launch.

It casts a foreboding shadow on the future of pricing for more substantial Vita games. And this is an SCE published game! What happened to the days when SCE games were priced lower than third party titles?

I can understand the need for a higher price to balance higher production costs, but I don't have to agree with it. I'm just not ready to pay that much for a handheld game.

I'm okay with it because of the $29.99 titles. I have issues with all the $60 console titles this generation, but would be a lot more okay with the ones that do justify that price point if the lower budget games were priced more appropriately at $40 or $50.

I'm okay paying $50 for Uncharted because Sony is pricing other games as they should be, at $30 and $40.

I wonder if other AAA titles will be $50 too, down the road, or if it turns out that Uncharted is one of the few titles that can get away with charging $50 for a single player game that isn't that long. To me, the thing that makes Uncharted: Golden Abyss seem like not such a great deal is the lack of multiplayer.

Another question for early adopters, other than the built-in social features, are there general purpose GPS application for 3G Vita models? How about turn by turn directions? I apologize if this has been answered before.

I am sure Square would love to jump on board and take advantage of the $50 price for games. :P

LBP, HSG at $40 and Wipeout, MNR at $30.

Currently in my local GameStop and it lists Gravity Rush's street date @ 2/15, Disgaea 3 @ 3/20, and LittleBIGPlanet @ 3/31. Take it with a grain of salt as it lists Lumines @ 2/14, a day before the First Edition is available.

When did HSG start selling for $40? Everyone was selling it for $30 before, and its still $30 on amazon.
I know Gamestop bumped the price up to $40 just recently. No one really knows what the deal is. Hopefully it is just Gamestop being Gamestop. I think I might pre-order HSG soon on Amazon just to be safe.

Edit: Sweetness, I am now a real member. Huzzah!

Amazon is still selling HSG for $29.99 but they say that there is release date delivery, but I can't seem to choose that as a shipping option. Would order it from there if shipping would work out...

If FIFA is $40 I think it's safe to say that everyone except for Sony is afraid of the $50 price point.

And while on that game, I'm pretty hyped for it. The worst part of any soccer game is the passing logic. Touch screen passing is gonna a game changer.

I doubt the budget on those games is comparable. Uncharted consists of entirely new content and the most advanced tech we've seen on Vita. FIFA is largely a console port.

HSG at $40 is giving me bad vibes. The fact that retailers up here are changing the prices scare me.

They just want more money.

I would pre-order to lock the price OR maybe price match it with the msrp that Sony put out. Those games are set @ 29.99

I don't have too many options. I want the games day 1, but I'm european, so I'll get raped with $=€ prices. So I'll go for US DD games, they will be cheaper. It's a luck that I don't care at all about trophies.

If Uncharted had multiplayer I would be ok with $50. But for a 10 hour single player experience that isn't completely revolutionary or GotY type material it's asking to much in my opinion. I want to play it but I'll wait for a sale or a pricedrop and just pick up some of the other good games from the launch list like Wipeout 2048 and Gravity Rush.

Only thing that is keeping me from preordering is to see if any retailers are doing some kind of pre-order bonus. I know Target was giving out $20 gift cards to anybody who preordered there but that's not really enough incentive to not preorder on Amazon.

I'm trying to hold off also for pre-order bonuses also. Didn't Amazon do one with 3ds the week it launched?

I thought this was interesting given that Modnations won't have online multiplayer. Rich from Icon games (the guy who made the blog post about nintendo downloads from here) also has been blogging about Vita development (this is from August):

http://www.icongames.com/vita-concept-approval-shock/

I'll laugh (then cry) if this little indie studio gets online play in their kart racer yet modnations can't

There's a lot of interesting reading there, much having to do about the early days of PSP and Sony's (then) stringent requirements for releasing conversions on the PSP.

With regard to SCEE recommending online play for Icon Games' racer versus SCEA completely avoiding online play in their own ModNation Racers, it might have to do with a difference in philosophy between SCEE and SCEA. I don't know if SCEA management really knows what to do with a portable system, compared to their counterparts in Asia and Europe. You'd think with Internet access being very widespread in the US, SCEA would be emphasizing the heck out of online functionality for all of their games.

I'm not suggesting that SCEA rule with a heavy hand. They shouldn't force third-party developers to do anything against their own will. However, when it comes to first-party games, they are obligated to "lead the way" and set the standard for third-party developers to follow.

Sony is usually pretty good about this, so seeing the total lack of online play in MNR is disheartening. It smacks of a game that is being rushed to market just so it can make launch day. If SCEA is lax on such features in their own games, then what will other developers think if SCEA should attempt to "recommend" that similar features be added to third-party releases?

FIFA is listed as $39.99 on Amazon right now. I love the FIFA series and the thought of have what is basically the full console version that I can take with me has me pretty excited.

New Modnation Monday PSBlog Post

Guess what the topic of discussion in the comments are about?

If I was someone of San Diego Studios, I'll be really scared. Nearly all comments are from people that are not only dissapointed about the lack of online, they are saying that they won't buy the game without online and they ask about delaying the game to have online in.

I'm sure that they will, at least, announce online post-launch update before launch.

And quite a few of them self-identify as Mod Nation fans.
Because I think load times are very important I never even tried the game, and rather played Blur, but when self-identifying fans say this is a dealbreaker in game that doesn't sell that well that's usually a bad sign.

I really hope that they do this. I'm not sure why they want Modnation Racers to be a launch title when they have much other good stuff. At least i'm pretty sure that the lack of online multiplayer is only because of time constrain (since it is a launch title) and not some other reasons.

If it's a console port, they should be able to do it in time. I'm not sure what other features they have that is different, but they could just not have put more resources into it and kept it at a low price point.

If i'm not mistaken, the Vita version is actually a new game. Much of the assets are most likely ported directly from the console version though. I'm not sure about all the new features in the games, but at least i know that there are some new weapons. And probably all new tracks and a new story mode as well, i would guess.

Lack of online multiplayer completely destroys whatever advantage being a launch game could possibly give it. They'll end up destroying the franchise. It was an unbelievably stupid decision.

Best place to get a day 1 bundle in America?

If I order the first edition bundle, will there be other games available? If I order a few games from Amazing with my first edition will they split shipment?
