that's pretty damned :cajun overall but I don'treally understand what the story is or what the hell is going on.

OK, anyway I slept off post-work exhaustion and I made some soup. ITS SAKURA TIME.

Human meets a furry and they have Human-furry halfbreed children.

That's the basic of the synopsis.

Yeah, the concept of moe has been kind of irrevocable tainted and warped. Maybe it was a bad word to begin using to begin with, seeing as I have my own concept of it.

Really all you can do is educate the few with your interpretation.

This is an extreme example, the word moe has become twisted much like the Swastika is tainted and no longer represents its original meaning. As with the Swastika, it may never go back.

Edit:

I'd better stop posting, I'm getting dangerously close to crossing the three digit mark in an anime thread. Everyone else start posting so this thread will hit it's cap before I make it on the wall of shame.

Roujin Z (So much old man moe!)

YAWx2.jpg

I decided to watch on a whim, I personally had never heard of the movie until I stumbled onto it. Now that I have watched it, it's jumping pretty high up on my list of movies to recommend people who love gorgeous animation and a fun story.

It might be because I have been volunteering and helping out with the elderly for a while, but the premise of this really hooked me. The Idea of creating a more efficient system to look over the elderly who can no longer maintain themselves is appealing. Removing some of the pressure that is put on care givers and families, as well as eliminating the need for nursing facilities is something people are still interested in. So combine a desire to redically improve elderly care with some self-sufficient/aware pseudo-mech action, and you have Roujin Z.

From a visual stand point, the amount of work and effort put into the characters/character animation is amazing and extremely fun to watch, especially the scenes where
the bed moves around freely (Dat 2D detail work) and the later scenes with the two robots are fighting(*Drool*)
. The background work is minimal but not detrimental; maybe due to budget it was turned into a artistic style and works as such. The influences from Akira and it's influence on other works can also be seen at many times in the way
the bed merges its self to other electronics/items/junk.
The ending of the movie was very....of it's time I guess. It was fun but came out of nowhere.

Looking at some of the people involved in the production is pretty amazing:
Katsuhiro Otomo
Satoshi Kon
Hiroyuki Kitakubo
Mitsuo Iso

It also has an amazing score that as far as I can tell has been lost to time. :(

Code Geass R2 Ep. 01

Well, that wasn't what I expected.
Actually I saw it coming, because I accidentally read a spoiler. Stupid Wikipedia. >_>

When people watch Geass and School Days this thread provides top class, excellent entertainment.

Well in that case, I'll try... ^^;

Yes, yes it is.
Assuming you aren't being sarcastic

Ano Natteru

Everything about the last scene was just perfect. From the
coincidental arrival of Jinta II's sister + harem member and to the unexpected kiss and boobs smothered across his face. All wrapped up with a lovely misunderstanding.

4th graders in a marathon? Well this definitely isnt the Us.
Meilin is cute as usual. Otherwise not a particularly great episode, well by CCS standards. I mean it is still a CCS episode and that puts it above a lot of things.

Just wait till he gains even more confidence.

Gurren Lagann - 13

I don't think this show is doing me good at all, because from now on whenever I see a whiny, spineless, bitchy character who does nothing but hates himself, I'm going to be filled with hope, a hope that this show has given me for that character type, a hope that would only dissapoint me further when watching shows like Evangelion or Guilty Crown, because at the back of mind I'll start to think "They could pull a Simon at x point" only for that ray of hope to be snuffed out because harems don't fall for manly men with a spine or something.

Now you understand why I've been hopeful for Guilty Crown only to be disappointed in the end :(.

To be fair though, it does happen.

A paragraph pertaining to season one shouldn't end with a spoiler for season two! >:\

You shouldn't be watching anime on wikipedia!
[...]Here lies the problem. An older male walks in and sees said pictures. This guy still has sex on the brain so those pictures will in some form trigger those thoughts, he's only human so you can't blame him. Since the picture makes an impression he reads the post and sees the word "moe". Now the word moe is synonymous with sexual attraction. When that person sees "moe" applied to a picture of Rin, how can you expect him not to think pedophile?
Well it's been that way for awhile! I think it's for the best if we use words where there's a wide range of agreement upon the definition.

As long as :Cajun doesnt get misconstrued like moe does.
It is when :Cajun becomes defined as pedo that I draw the fucking line.
Nobody likes their name defiled by misconceptions.

Well said. I don't think there's a danger of that happening given the type of people who post here.
so the best show this season is an anime about space pirates in skirts?

That will never, ever be the case.
rip haly(con)

may he decompose in peace

Another fallen soldier.

Yeah people here pretty much know what is meant by it. but I have seen a few instances of people casually coming into this section and thinking that way, so I just want to make it clear to anyone who might be lurking or casually browsing this section of the forum.
Anyway, onto CCS 22.

Daily Lives of Highschool Dudes 2

Still funny even if half the segments were in the PVs. I absolutely cracked up when the butler was chasing the other ones around with the false tooth at the end.

Roujin Z is a film I watched a while a go when Sci-Fi channel used to air anime over here at some crazy time in the morning. I don't really remember much about the film, but occasionally I'll suddenly find myself thinking "what was that film with the old man in the robot bed?" and having to look it up because not remembering the title bothered me.

Apple pears. Truly the fruit of Kamisama.

That was pretty exciting conclusion. I loved the bit at the end when they all
bowed to the building. Cool looking shot with some sweet music.

Man, the fanservice in this episode was totally unexpected for such a classy production. Anyway -

As expected, Chihaya lost. Quite badly, too. I was a little bit surprised by, er, how little character development the Queen got. At this point she's just being set up as an obstacle to overcome, a point to aim for, rather than an actual person.

I am a little bit surprised that Taichi didn't win either, I assumed that maybe they'd give the squad some hope, but I guess it's better if they all have to improve. They're more 'equal' that was, regardless of the actual difference in skill level.

Inevitably, I suppose, the direction and animation were a step-down from last weeks episode. But that's hardly a surprised - last weeks episode was storyboarded by frigging Yoshiaki Kawajiri. You know, the director of:

and other classic Madhouse crazyness. I guess he hasn't left yet.

The main problem this week seemed to be a lack of cohesion between the sequences, it just didn't feel like it was paced and edited properly, which made it a bit clunky overall.

Chihayafuru 15

I wasn't expecting
them all to lose, but it gives them all something to build to for the last half of the series.
The scene as they were leaving the shrine was incredibly beautiful. Best show of last season is still the best show of this season.

It's interesting. I want to commend Japanese writers for being brave enough to
have their protagonists lose
, but the cynical part of me thinks it's all just a ploy to
extend the length of the series indefinitely

It's just
the heroes losing so they have an excuse to go train more for that inevitable shonen haato comeback.

I'd prefer it if
Chihaya never does become eli-te and Taichi sucks shit and stays in B forever.

Exactly, it happens all the time. If the hero can overcome EVERY challenge then there's something wrong with them and they become boring too watch.

So you are in favour of
Queen x Chihaya
rather than the other way around?

I will say, it's not that it's rare for American sports texts to
have the hero lose. Rocky
being the most famous example. It's just comparatively rare.

Well, there's also the fact that you also can't keep something going for 15+ volumes otherwise.

Hi Anime-Gaf. I'm thinking of getting some anime on blu-ray, and I'm currently eyeing Casshern Sins and Kuragehime. What do you guys think of these shows? I see that the director of Kuragehime also directed Baccano which I really enjoyed, and both shows sound pretty interesting from their descriptions.

Hey Girls, He Is Not Your Father; Call the Police 02: I-I wasn't expecting that.

It's a shame that this plot line is going to be denigrated with the wacky harem hijinks, but right now this is as honest as the show will ever get. Not dropped yet, and if it doesn't become too offensive I might watch it through.
