Vinland Saga Vol. 7

Wow this is some good shit right here. I love the dynamic between all the characters in this, feels very grounded in reality. The end of this volume wasn't very good and I'm kind of pissed that they didn't show what happened. I also don't like how major characters are abandoned (would love to see what happened to his sister).

Aside from this, fantastic experience. The priest's message that changed the prince was really emotional and harkens back to Makoto Yukimura's other manga Planetes.

However now it seems to be like this...

Well I still haven't read all of it yet, I hope it returns back to the format that made the series great in the first place. I really want to see what happened to the prince and why Thorfinn became a slave.

This looks damn interesting, I am excite.

@ REAL and Vagabond I love Innoue's work, but both of these are a case of catch-up-titus. REAL had a very slow schedule and I think I left off on volume 6 or 7 before I caught up with the series years ago. Vagabond I just never really good much around to outside of the first five volumes, leaving off to the closure of Musashi's backstory I believe. I'll probably have to re-read both to really catch up with these and these'll probably be my next manga to read.

A lot of the other series mentioned is kind of a similar area. I own a few volumes of Yotsuba irl and that's all I've ever read of that series, I don't really remember if I read Solanin (but I think I did), read the first volume of Ghost in the Shell and Lone Wolf and Cub, and some manga like Sanctuary I've always known about but never had an interest in reading. Thinking about it I have a lot of catching up to do and I'm starting to feel quitting manga for a couple of years was a bad idea. There are a ton of classic manga I haven't touched that I've always wanted to get around reading such as Tezuka's selection of works.

Not really interested in some of the moe-looking series people here are suggesting, though. What makes Nononono so good, for example? I have to be convinced before I read something like that

Digimon V-tamer:

Final Verdict

Ok so if you want fluff and are a fan. Go for it. It's all shonen cliches' left and right. The only redeeming qualities is if you're more of a fan or were.

Plot is steady and does take dives around a few arcs. Like I said don't go in expecting award winning stuff folks.

Also you get to see one of the coolest/heroic mega evolutions outside of the anime

Reborn 368

Well I hope Xanxus and Varia can defeat Hibari. I still want Mammon to win. Tsuna should defeat his father since I do not ever recall him losing twice in a row? Somehow, the overly predictable nature of this series makes me love it even more.

Yume no Atosaki

Awesome slice of life manga about college love and friendship. Felt very similar to Honey and Clover. They even had the kiddy looking blonde girl that is always energetic and doing funny faces. I liked how they kept focusing on different characters and their love/goals in each chapter. I seriously wouldn't mind having more volumes of it since there is a lot of room to expand on especially with the basketball dude.

So its complete? if so i'll check it out :)

So, I've been watching the Fist of the North Star anime on Hulu lately and decided to quickly check out the original comic. I can already see the anime guys sure changed some things around quite a bit and I'm only 7 chapters in.

Anyone here who has seen/read both and can recommend me which one I should finish first?

I read Amanchu today

It's a pretty charming story about a sort of shy girl who moves to a new town and makes an energetic friend who gets her into scuba diving. Really enjoyed breezing through it today.

The anime is good for the lulz, but I highly suggest the manga. More high quality art, faster pace, and no filler shit. Fist of the North Star isn't THAT good though but if you want to see the standard for manly man manga then I would read it. It's a historical read.

Otaku no Musume-san vol 1

I have no idea why I dropped this manga 2 years ago. I remember liking it a lot, but at that time I was just too lazy to follow up on a monthly manga. I stopped at around chapter 28, but might as well read it from the beginning since I don't remember that much.

These body pillows of his are very high tier and well made. Gotta get me some

Manly man manga manliness is why I started it in the first place!

Manga is not as funny as the anime so far. Needs more regenerating shirt and 800,000 different pressure points.

Watched the anime first as a kid, read the full manga after (in a 2 days marathon). Imo it doesn't matter which you'll decide to finish first, both are pretty good. Manga is probably a bit better, but the anime is good as well in its own ways. Anime has atatatatatatatatatatatatata...a-ta! in sound form, manga has less censorship, if I remember right. Raul in the anime is a badass, but he's a badass in manga as well....
My post feels pointless and useless, but I'd say read the manga while watching the anime. It's the only way!

I'm kind of confused here. Haven't you said in the past that you think series like One Piece should be less predictable and have more twists like Naruto and Bleach (which is complete inverse to what is the actual truth for the most part) and One Piece would be better for it?

Well, you do love Fairy Tail, after all.

May not be ground breaking for the genre, but it does accomplish and go above and beyond the industry standard excellently, my favorite. And its not predictable, quite unpredictable even, one never knows how the antagonist will be defeated, referencing my favorite moment, unpredictable that the three dragonslayers teamed up and Natsu reaching for the magic of tomorrow in Edolas. Epic.

While I do wish it was more unpredictable, many of One Piece's biggest and most memorable moments were unforseeable, for example the outcome of my favorite character, so in matters where it counts, the series follows the standard like Naruto and Bleach, it just has less of these moments then them. It may not do what I want, but One Piece is still pretty excellent.

If you're talking about Ace, then I dunno how in the world that is ever unforseeable. It's made pretty clear that Ace was going to die for the entirety of the arc. There's also the rumor a while back from AP forums that said Ace was going to die, before the implications started in Thriller Bark making people believe that the rumor was legitimate.

How did they come to that? His death shouldnt have been predictable based on the good guys always succeed thing in nearly all forms of entertainment. I was never under the belief that Luffy would fail in the endeavour especially after he made it past so many formidable foes.

Otaku no Musume-san vol 3

This is too great. All the characters are awesome, the manager is awesome, Kanau's friends are awesome, and the main cast is awesome. Nitta by far has the best panels especially the ones where he keeps trying to kidnap Kanau.

Kouta ditching his daughter for a game midnight release is pretty pathetic of him. There are countless of ways of getting a game, it's really not that important buying it the same day.

This panel was just amazing. The whole confrontation with Kouta's sister was great.

Art looks pretty attractive, will look into when I'm back in the manga groove.

Because it was implied ever since Thriller Bark that Ace was in trouble. It blatantly said that when a vivre card acts up like that, that the person it leads to is in trouble/near death. Many fans took this as a confirmation that the rumor was legit, and low and behold, it turned out to be true.

Lol, sounds more like a rumor that was only "legitimized" after the fact...like someone who makes random guesses and happens to be right one time

Yeah but how would someone even postulate that Ace would die before it was implied in Thriller Bark? The rumor dates back to the end of CP9 arc I believe and I don't see how anyone could guess it by that point.

Also Wut Piece spoilers are out (but there isn't much)...

Off to the New World.
Not much content, just farewells and such.
Some details for the Log Pose for the New World are revealed.
You can choose a destination out of three possible choices, and the stranger the needle moves, the more dangerous the island.
(So you can predetermine which of the three island is more dangerous)

Sounds very meh if true. They need to go back to showing marines shit.

mangagaf has slowed down a lot recently is everyone off in animegaf?

Battle Angel

Reading this and Black Lagoon just kills me. I don't even know if Black lagoon is ever coming back. I'm glad this LO arc is finally over.

Thanks! Been looking for some more new slice of life seinen mangas.

Yeah, I enjoyed it, but I wanna see what beoomes of Lou, Alita's brain, how they finally deal with Trinidad, see if Weasel managed to avoid vegetation...

Also, I want to see Alita finally get her ass to Mars.

Only one of them has a higher bounty than Luffy? Sound very fake to me, but we'll see

I thought the new world was pretty much "owned" by the pirates? The marines/government just don't have the influence/presence there compared to the rest of the world. What I mean is that I think the bounties would kind of stagnate once you make it there.

The Kyuubi is killin' that tsundere act. KILLIN' it.

Seems like the Bijuu were being synced through Gedou Mazou after all.

Naruto: Uncomfortable-

What the fuck was this shit? I felt uncomfortable as fuck reading this garbage. The Kyuubi is just some big Tsundere-Pussy now? UGH. Kishimoto is pushing me to call it quits. Lame.

One Piece
The usual send off chapter for the end of the arc .
Looking forward to see where the SH going from here and seeing other people also.
The next arc can be anything which should be fun.

One Piece: B+

Ohhhh, this will be fun. A new arc is ahead of us, and I don't know what it'll be but it's our first traditional arc post-timeskip, and our first arc of the New World. Oda has got some fantastic shit in store.

As for this chapter, your typical "leaving this island, on to the next one" chapter. The moment where people wanted to get strawhats was nice, and the tri-logpose thing is kind of cool...in a way.
