So moving on, I would like to propose something. Is it possible for anyone here to accept that Gingrich is a changed man? Perhaps I'm more forgiving, but I feel like at the very least he is trying to prove he is a better man. I haven't gotten the negative vibes you guys seem to have gotten. I've seen him get angry at Mitt Romney, for good reason. I just haven't noticed some of these arrogant tendencies.

He still seems like a homophobic racist to me with a massively oversized ego who entered into the primary to sell his books and speeches/get some publicity to feed his overgrown ego. Just like half the other candidates.

AKA I'll blame Republicans during the election for imposing an artificial deadline on this loss of jobs.

1. The pipeline was on track to be approved by the State Department later this year before the third most powerful public representative in our country decided that wasn't good enough. Didn't Speaker Boehner force the issue by demanding that Keystone be included in with the time-sensitive payroll tax cut extension?

2. How is this government construction project any different from the hundreds of government construction projects in Obama's stimulus bill? If those hundreds of projects didn't create any jobs (as Republican congressmen and talking heads constantly claim), then how exactly will Keystone create any?

Alright, this is what I was looking for. I didn't believe that he is, or meant to be racist at all.

Being a White Conservative isn't easy, you get labeled as a racist all the time. I speak from experience.

What's next? Being a white protestant anglican male isn't easy?

Until you drop the "victim" card, you're not gonna get anywhere with that mindset.

Stay free.

Were they racial or taken the wrong way?
They were racial. He's proven that, in his mind, black people are automatically associated with poverty, laziness, and food stamps, despite the fact that there are more white food stamp recipients than black.
He's also called Spanish the language of the ghetto.

I am never labeled a racist, and I speak from experience. If you are ever labelled one, it is probably because your opinions are pretty strange, conspiracy theory, victim card, or other silliness.

Oh, don't get so contentious. Just having fun. I even brought reilo and kad out of hiding. I just needed besada and scorcho to complete my Poli-gaf bingo card.

I liked you better when you used to call me dirty names...

and then get promptly banned thereafter.

This.

Newt doesn't mind being at an advocate for racist voters in the south. So he's using racially tinted comments to garner their support.

Take off the f***ing thin veil, because behind all that talk about blacks and food stamps, it was racism, PERIOD. That's what he thinks, and I'm pretty sure and all his ilks think the same.

Every heard "its only racism if you're white"?

I'm not playing a victim. I'm often accused as being a racist, because I'm a conservative. It probably has something to do with the fact that I go to college, and its a tech school. The long standing stereotype of conservatives being racist.

What do I tell them?

I'm sorry you feel that way, that just isn't true. I implore you to think with reason.

You mean the same Democrat politicians that get run down at ThinkProgress? Yea, no drone mentality here.
I don't think I've ever visited that site. Yeah, hard to believe I know. I think its shocking for some people to realize that some people can think for themselves on the left. Calling this drone mentality is just as moronic as calling everyone on poligaf democratygaf.

Jesus christ, really?

Actually, I think it probably has something to do with you saying shit like:

Every heard "its only racism if you're white"?

If you don't say racist things, you shouldn't be called a racist. That said, I doubt people just call you a racist because you are a conservative.

How do they know you are a conservative? Do you go around saying conservative things, telling people you are a conservative, or possibly saying racist things without even being aware of it?

Also, why are you a conservative? I've asked this to you before, but you have yet to give an answer. Why do you hold conservative ideologies, what about them do you believe to hold a better chance at making the world a better place?

What would "his ilks [sic]" be?
Why you got to be that way? It's simple grammatical mistake.

Perhaps you should start taking your own advice.

Right now for whatever reason, without even nary a speck of doubt, you still feel (not think) that it's your conservatism that's branding you as a racist.

But if you want to keep on harping in that belief and faith that it's your conservatism that's the cause, well, can't help you there, son.
Ever heard of "You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink"?

That tends to be the fallback for; I'm winning in an argument, or they really don't like conservatives. I think a lot of people have grown up seeing lots of negativity from the republican party. I understand this to an extent.

I want to help bring the republican party to what it used to be, not what 9/11 has turned it into.

I'll tell you more about my ideals when I'm done watching sons of guns.

Yes.

Sons of guns.

Ehhhhhhhhhh
Back in November, President Obama said that the Keystone pipeline should be rerouted in response to concerns that leaks could taint Nebraska’s water supplies. That process would’ve stretched into 2013.

Because it's a Republican idea, stupid.

yep, you caught me I'm a racist. Ignored.

i don't understand this keystone thing. i thought nebraska's governor specifically does NOT want the pipeline through his state. why should the federal government force it on them?

The underlying root is that conservatives feel blacks are "lazy" and "poor" because they can continue to collect benefits from the government. Rick Santorum's comment about giving "them" (black people) other people's money. Romney's comment on the DREAM act and giving "them" special benefits and entitlements.

I emphasis the word "them" because to Romney, Gingrich, Santorum and others, they make their argument against Obama and Democrats as a "them" (minorities) vs "us" (whites).

The point being that without the artificial two month deadline imposed by Republicans there would be time to work out a new route that was satisfactory through the process. With the Republican imposed deadline there obviously isn't time to work out a new route and so the Republicans basically did nothing but force it to be disapproved, because heaven forbid we take the time to investigate issues, protect valuable areas, and actually think about what actions mean for the future. Of course, we shouldn't expect the party of the Bush Tax Cuts to actually think ahead to what current actions will lead to in the future.

I think things like quotas are no longer needed. Especially with colleges.

I'd seriously like to hear what exactly your saying to make people call you racist. Playing the white victim card is pretty sad.

One of my good friends at work is a super republican and yet I don't find him racist or his comments to being dripping with racism. I don't agree with pretty much any of his views but I do find it refreshing that hes not a complete douche. Meanwhile I go over to my extended families house and all they can talk about is how Gingrich has got it right because poor black children need to learn how to work since their parents are just living off the government. Then they go on how disgusting they think it is that people find comments like this racist. I find most of their comments to be racist or ignorant. Its all about how you present your views. You are obviously doing something wrong if you keep coming off as racist to other people.

How is that any more racist Obama than referring to the 1% as "them" (i.e. rich, fat cat white guys). And Gingrich was asked specifically what he would tell the NAACP at their convention, so to frame it as what he would say African-Americans should demand (and he was talking about Obama being a food stamp President LOOOOONG before this comment) as racist it simply ridiculous.

I know you WANT to think he's a racist without any proof other than this simply because he's a rich, fat white guy, but this is specious evidence. This says far more about you than him.

The fuck? There's a HUGE fucking difference between what Obama said and what Gingrich said. The big difference is that Obama's comment on the 1% doesn't have any racial under tones. :lol

Santorum actually said "black people" when the topic of welfare was brought up;

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_dUqYnbS6m4

Part of the reason 92-95% of blacks vote Democrat is because the Republican party has demonized black people for the better part of 40 years. It started with Nixon's "Southern Strategy" and continued with Reagan's "Welfare Queen", and its never stopped since.

It was almost a no-brainer that the GOP would drop Michael Steele as party chairman as soon as they got their "mojo" back after the 2010 elections.

I found a really good quote from Hubert Humphrey today. Just thought I'd share.
Campaign financing is a curse. It's the most disgusting, demeaning, disenchanting, debilitating experience of a politician's life. It's stinky. It's lousy. I just can't tell you how much I hate it. I've had to break off in the middle of trying to make a decent, honorable campaign and go up to somebody's parlor or to a room and say, 'Gentlemen, and ladies, I'm desperate. You've got to help me....'

And you see people – a lot of them you don't want to see. And they look at you, and you sit there and you talk to them and tell them what you're for and you need help and, out of the twenty-five who have gathered, four will contribute. And most likely one of them is in trouble and is somebody you shouldn't have had a contribution from.

Not only that, but Democrats have by far the majority of minority candidates.

There you have it - all white people from the South are racists. Why do you care where I'm from? I'm not from nearly as privileged a background as you.

Spoiler: I'm from Detroit

1. I met a white person who was racist.
2. Southerners are racist.
3. All white people from the south are racist.

Btw, Newt Gingrich said that black people should "demand" paychecks and not food stamps. How exactly does one go about "demanding" a paycheck? Use firearms perhaps? Like the kind all black people carry around?

I think things like quotas are no longer needed. Especially with colleges.

Quotas are illegal.

That said, there is a certain type of college leftist who will say that things like opposition to affirmative action or welfare is racist without engaging with the non-racist reasons someone may not like those policies.

So moving on, I would like to propose something. Is it possible for anyone here to accept that Gingrich is a changed man?

Even if you ignore his shitty ethics scandals, he's another McCarthy douche. Seriously, he keeps calling atheists a threat and thinks that we should do a red scare tribunal on muslims.
