1 - Playing games on easy is really good fun. I now always start a game on easy if I get the chance. The games I've played that would really benefit from being harder are few and far between.
2 Peter Molyneux is not the devil. The fact that he is perhaps over ambitious, and promises too much, does not warrant the level of scorn his name is greeted with by many on GAF. I think hes great.

I can't enjoy any Dragon Quest game, I find them archaic and the story in each is pretty worthless to me.
And people that play games mainly for the story, that aren't adventure games or have mediocre gameplay, are crazy. Crazy, I tell you!

The Covenant is such a terrible enemy. Get that Mickey Mouse shit out of here. Just like Gordon Freeman, Master Chef is not "cool" and Cortana, like Alyx, makes me shit blood. The witty banter is not witty and the stupid macho marines are just tedious. And while some levels are kinda good, a lot of them are repetitive cut and paste shit with enemies randomly thrown in. Library is actually one of the better levels of Halo 1, since the Flood is way more scary than the Covenant.

- Gears 3 is graphically on par with anything on PS3
- GT is still playing catch up to Forza

Oh, I have another one: Crysis 2 is better than Crysis 1 (without mods), graphically AND gameplay wise. This is especially true for multiplayer; the most underrated mp this gen, in my opinion. Not without reason, the netcode sucked and there was little support. The story in single player was meh, but that goes for both of them. And the whole "there was more freedom in the first Crysis" is really not true. The only thing that made the first feel more open world was being able to swim out to a random island and the nice vistas. Besides that it was just as linear.

Though I don't see why 3DS/Vita and iOS can't exist together. iOS gaming is very young, but doesn't make enough money and can't satisfy many genres because of input (Touch controllers). Both have their pro/cons.

I love how quick and easy 5 mans are right now in WoW. I play WoW to relax, not to wipe 15 times in a 2 hours dungeon. Screw all those "hardcores" wanting challenge in heroics when 90% of the people do them with pugs, and we all know how "great" pugs are in communication and patience. We had that at the beginning of Cataclysm, and sure challenge was there, but 2 hours dungeons? Wiping 15 times? Waiting 40 mins to get into the dungeon itself? I'll take my 30 mins dungeons with 0-1 wipe and 10 mins queues thank you.

-Dreamcast was a horrible console that's placed on a pedestal largely due to childish nostalgia. Supposedly great games like Sonic Adventure 2 and Shenmue are not very good. Moreover, I've seen Dreamcast fans recommend heinous garbage like D2 and Blue Stinger with a straight face. Jet Grind Radio and the arcade games where the only things worth spending time on, and most of the arcade games have appeared on superior machines or have received sequels.

Is there really a lot of overblown praise for the Dreamcast on here? I never got the impression that anyone thought it was the best system ever, just one of the best launches ever, with tons of unique, daring, and yes mediocre games, but ultimately a system that died before it deserved to.

OH MY GOD YES! Finally someone agrees.
Also Arkham Asylum and Arkham City blow; they just aren't fun and controlling batman is clunky as hell. And Halo goes like this 3>Reach>2>CE. Everything I thought I loved about Halo CE and anything people on here love about it is nostalgic; it is far from the perfection of the formula that is in 3. ODST I don't even count as it was terrible. Open world doesn't belong in Halo.

I thought I could resist the pull of this thread but everyone else is doing it so i'm caving into peer pressure.
- I find 3D Zelda games are much better than their 2D counterparts and that ALTTP isn't as enjoyable as Link's Awakening or even Minish Cap.
- On a side note to the above, to hate on Zelda games and then praise Zelda style games like Okami or 3D Dot Game Heroes as brilliant alternatives make no sense to me at all as they suffer from the same flaws that plague the Zelda series for most people, in fact their flaws are generally worse especially in Okami which takes the complaints most people have about modern Zelda and ramps them up to dizzying heights. I left out Darksiders from the group of recent Zelda-like games as I haven't played enough of it to form an opinion.
3D Zelda itself isn't exempt from my scrutiny, they've been getting slightly worse with each iteration, but the idea that to rejuvenate the series Nintendo should go back to original Zelda style is kind of baffling. I wont explain why here, i'll just say that while the series is in desperate need of less dialogue and hold holding that going so far back to NES Zelda style is not the right way to fix it at all.
- Uncharted 2 is simply a good game, not great. It doesn't excel in any of its gameplay (whether it's the shooting, platforming or puzzle solving) or its plot which reminds me more like a lesser national treasure if anything right down to figuring out an ancient riddle in like 10 seconds by doing something completely nonsensical* .
It's impressive presentation and visuals makes these aspects seem better than they actually are. Altogether it's a solid package but the PS3 has far better games going for it.
*(who designs all these temples where having everything fall to pieces is in fact the way forward? if Nathan Drake entered my house I'd bail out immediately because no doubt he'd touch the wall and the whole house would crumble down but it's okay because he now has access to the back garden like he planned all along!)
- DKC3 annihilates the original DKC, oh if only DK himself replaced the often hated infant baboon that is Kiddy Kong then maybe it would get some credit. It still has some not so enjoyable gimmicky levels mind you but I'll take them over shoving giant mincers and oil drums into late game cave stages for some reason.
While on the topic of DK, Donkey kong: Jungle Beat is the best platformer from the PS2/GC/Xbox era.
- Jet Force Gemini is Rare's weakest N64 game, in controls horribly, it looks like a mess and the Tribal fetch quest for a single ship part is a far more grueling and boring task than any of the collectathons seen in Rare's N64 platformers. Also the characters have horrid designs, the eyes on the twins combined with their bodies create terrifying looking man children (yeah, in the literal sense this time!) and the Lupus Tank looks ridiculous.
- Talking about horrible character designs, Mortal Kombat is a series plagued by this for the most part even if there are a few good ones, the excess gore and blood looks absolutely awful, the series is the pinnacle of appealing to the teenage market that think that having lots of blood and violence means it's mature. To top it off the fighting itself isn't anything to write home about.
I'll give the recent game a lot of credit though for doing a great job at a revival but i'd sooner watch the movies that are so bad they're kind of fun than play the games.
- The rabid fanbase behind Super Smash Bros Melee is horrible for the most part, hey I have no problem if you want to play your Smash Bros competitively but whining and crying like Toddlers who don't get their way every time Brawl is even mentioned is really grating, I even agree that it would have been better if they kept advanced techniques and all that jazz but really it shouldn't come as much of a shock that a game that started out as a chaotic punch up of Nintendo characters would continue to head down the route of more chaos instead of deep and balanced competitive play. But instead it just never ends, they never recovered from being the victims of their own hype and boy do they let everyone know it. Hang on i'm not sure if i'm even being controversial here.
- Street Fighter 4 has a great art style and I like Blanka, I think that's supposed to be controversial.
- The original Sonic the Hedgehog is boring compared to it's sequels, Advance and Rush series aren't bad at all and i'd much rather play them over Sonic 1. The inclusion of the often feared shitty friends in the Advance games is in fact GREAT, because I like character variety and they all play like a modified Sonic anyway.
- Yoshi's Island as an actual 2D platformer falls a bit flat making up most of its challenge through collecting the 100 points which is often more irritating than enjoyable. So basically i'm saying Yoshi's Island while great isn't all its cracked up to be, Wario Land games are better at handling character transformations and exploring stages for item collecting.
- Kart Racing games did get better after the N64/PS1 era. Though really the main problem with the kart debate is that its truly one of those "my chosen game is the best and all the others are shit" situations making any attempt at discussion pointless anyway.
- Ico is a decent game caught in the gravity of Shadow of the Colossus' greatness that makes it seem better than it actually is. Though really both games are very divisive it seems, I don't think that Ico measures up to Sotc myself. The Last Guardian doesn't look that interesting so far and after all this time in development it's likely to underwhelm even if it's a good game.
- Open world sandbox gameplay is often a crutch which usually leads to a kind of boring main game that lean towards being a jack of all trades, master of none. Oh yes they can be fun messing around but the main missions basically become checklists of going to markers to pick up something or maybe you'll get to the marker and be greeted with a shoot out that while competent doesn't really compare to an actual full blown shooting game.
- I find 3D Zelda games are much better than their 2D counterparts and that ALTTP isn't as enjoyable as Link's Awakening or even Minish Cap.
- On a side note to the above, to hate on Zelda games and then praise Zelda style games like Okami or 3D Dot Game Heroes as brilliant alternatives make no sense to me at all as they suffer from the same flaws that plague the Zelda series for most people, in fact their flaws are generally worse especially in Okami which takes the complaints most people have about modern Zelda and ramps them up to dizzying heights. I left out Darksiders from the group of recent Zelda-like games as I haven't played enough of it to form an opinion.
3D Zelda itself isn't exempt from my scrutiny, they've been getting slightly worse with each iteration, but the idea that to rejuvenate the series Nintendo should go back to original Zelda style is kind of baffling. I wont explain why here, i'll just say that while the series is in desperate need of less dialogue and hold holding that going so far back to NES Zelda style is not the right way to fix it at all.
- Uncharted 2 is simply a good game, not great. It doesn't excel in any of its gameplay (whether it's the shooting, platforming or puzzle solving) or its plot which reminds me more like a lesser national treasure if anything right down to figuring out an ancient riddle in like 10 seconds by doing something completely nonsensical* .
It's impressive presentation and visuals makes these aspects seem better than they actually are. Altogether it's a solid package but the PS3 has far better games going for it.
*(who designs all these temples where having everything fall to pieces is in fact the way forward? if Nathan Drake entered my house I'd bail out immediately because no doubt he'd touch the wall and the whole house would crumble down but it's okay because he now has access to the back garden like he planned all along!)
- DKC3 annihilates the original DKC, oh if only DK himself replaced the often hated infant baboon that is Kiddy Kong then maybe it would get some credit. It still has some not so enjoyable gimmicky levels mind you but I'll take them over shoving giant mincers and oil drums into late game cave stages for some reason.
While on the topic of DK, Donkey kong: Jungle Beat is the best platformer from the PS2/GC/Xbox era.
- Jet Force Gemini is Rare's weakest N64 game, in controls horribly, it looks like a mess and the Tribal fetch quest for a single ship part is a far more grueling and boring task than any of the collectathons seen in Rare's N64 platformers. Also the characters have horrid designs, the eyes on the twins combined with their bodies create terrifying looking man children (yeah, in the literal sense this time!) and the Lupus Tank looks ridiculous.
- Talking about horrible character designs, Mortal Kombat is a series plagued by this for the most part even if there are a few good ones, the excess gore and blood looks absolutely awful, the series is the pinnacle of appealing to the teenage market that think that having lots of blood and violence means it's mature. To top it off the fighting itself isn't anything to write home about.
I'll give the recent game a lot of credit though for doing a great job at a revival but i'd sooner watch the movies that are so bad they're kind of fun than play the games.
- The rabid fanbase behind Super Smash Bros Melee is horrible for the most part, hey I have no problem if you want to play your Smash Bros competitively but whining and crying like Toddlers who don't get their way every time Brawl is even mentioned is really grating, I even agree that it would have been better if they kept advanced techniques and all that jazz but really it shouldn't come as much of a shock that a game that started out as a chaotic punch up of Nintendo characters would continue to head down the route of more chaos instead of deep and balanced competitive play. But instead it just never ends, they never recovered from being the victims of their own hype and boy do they let everyone know it. Hang on i'm not sure if i'm even being controversial here.

Soul Calibur and Sega Tennis were genuinely great, but I'm hard pressed to think of anything nearly as good games-wise, and I played a lot of DC games.
Its graphics were very impressive in its day, but looking back now its software heritage really hasn't stood the test of time. RE: Code Veronica is actually pretty dreadful, god-awful boss fights, annoying laborious puzzles, and most of all Steve fucking Burnside - the most hateful side-character I've ever had the displeasure of encountering.

They can, and will, co-exist together. I'm just saying that neither handheld will sell as much as their predecessor due to the iOS market. For example, my wife played the shit out of her DS (even got a perfect in Picross 3D ), but hasn't touched it since I bought an iPad 2. Now it's all Angry Bird, Where's My Water, Cut the Rope, etc for her. She flat out told me not to buy her a 3DS this past Christmas because she'd never play it.
Some core gamers won't be satisfied with iOS for gaming on the go, but I imagine a good amount will. And I doubt the BrainAge soccer moms will ever come back to a Nintendo handheld.
