It's funny you mention this series because I randomly just started reading it -- like, literally a few hours ago -- and really like it. I also decided to look into the series a little bit and found out two things:
- the whole thing is about 160 chapters long and the scanlator is dedicated, so it will actually be fully translated (a rarity, really)
- when I say "dedicated", I mean that ONE PERSON has been working on EVERYTHING related to this series, from chapter one, for almost two years. That is either obsession, insanity, or perhaps both. Though it does sound like he's never gonna try that ever again.

Don't think so. However, they just finished volume 15, the most recently released one, and extrapolating a weekly series' release rate based on when vol. 15 went on sale, I would guess they're about 7-8 chapters behind.
Never mind, DT says it's 9 chapters. Don't know if that counts this week's or not, but there you go.

I'm honestly already on the path to check out Nise right now. Bake was a total random watch for myself but the style they use for the show is just "waaaat" in a good way. It's a weird thing for me, like I kinda wonder how I can like it as much as I do, but I definitely enjoy it.

Meanwhile, Gainax getting Medaka I remember hearing about, but any mentions of the animators handling it individually? I want to know if I can expect some god tier shit (I mean shit, PanSto & Gurren Lagaan man, not to say much of the older stuff they've done with eccentric premise) or just serviceable stuff.

Just reread Skypiea. It's by far the best arc of One Piece.

Skypiea is one of my top 3 arcs in the manga honestly just because of stuff like this. On top of being a strong arc on its own and having the best flashback in the series, you just know shit will be so fucking real when the Sky comes down or Luffy calls his angel bros later on in the series.

Had to catch up from the end of the fight with the body horror dude until now and wow, this series is really entertaining. Beru got straight up and down rejected/"I meant it when I said I don't trust you" zoned by Staz and that fight they're having is pretty cool stuff, we got hypercubes and Shikamaru shadow strategies up in this bitch.

Oh yea, beast mode Staz is so many shades of Dragonball Goku. He just makes things work all while being dorky as hell. I love it. :lol

I wonder why everyone has it out for Fuyumi though.

For those that are familiar with the language, they use "little brother" "big brother" in this chapter but are putting it in quotes, and to my understanding you can call someone onii-_____ and not really be related. Would the inclusion of quotes reflect that they aren't related in this context or could that just be left to the translator including them because they (the translator) themselves don't now if it was literal or figurative.

I think this is the jist of what's been announced. Director/Character Design and some VA. I'm sure it will be a run-of-the-mill adaptation.

First things first, I love this. It totally delivered on the hype. So between Ueki, Takkoku and this, it's confirmed I will love everything this guy draws.

Anyway the concept is really fun. The kid's great too. Every time he opens his mouth I'm smiling.

So apparently Kentaro Miura said he's going to tell the story of the God Hand soon. Hyped as fuck. He also says he plans on actually finishing Berserk even if it goes to his 60's.

Saki 92

Darnit, still one ~17-page chapter a month for the foreseeable future? That's so horribly slow... and while the series is as good as ever, the plot only moves forward slightly with this one. The first half of the final round of this match is over, and now it's down to the wire... Saki is of course in this match, and will have to win eventually, but she barely appears in this chapter. Instead, this is mostly about one of the other teams in the match -- like usual, some time is being spent on backstory for the other teams in the match, even when they're probably going to lose soon. That's alright, and this is a good chapter, I just wish it wasn't taking so long to progress.

I know that Biyori and Achiga-hen have to be the reasons for why the main series has had its releases cut in half, and it's nice that we've gotten those spinoffs, but still it's unfortunate for the main series. And given how many pages are in Achiga chapters, it should pass Saki in terms of chronology... oh, I don't know, maybe in its next chapter? Maybe a couple of chapters at most, but it shouldn't take long. And Saki's been going on for much, much longer. Of course part of that is because Achiga has skimmed over a huge amount of stuff, but still... what, will the final match happen in Achiga first or something? :lol

Of course, there's also that upcoming Achiga anime to look forward to. Hopefully it's good.

I'd forgotten about this (semi-ex-Dark Guild) son of Makarov's as well, but he's obviously going to be an antagonist in this arc after what he did to Wendy...

Decent chapter overall, most of the guilds have been introduced. I wonder what the contest itself will be, though I guess next time will be about introducing the remaining two guilds, and maybe not telling them what the contest is yet? We'll have to see. Oh, and it was funny, but nice, to see Mavis join the guild in the stands. Heh... will we be seeing more of her ghost in the future? (Also, naturally the dead old woman looks like a loli... I mean, what else could she look like, right?)

I'm at the middle of Skypiea on my re-watch/read of OP. It isn't as slow as I remember it to be. My sister really likes OP so far. She pretty much has the same criticisms of it as I do so far and feels the same way since our interests are so similar.

When I'm done and caught up, I will do a write up on OP and maybe even a small write up on how someone else I know first hand felt about going through OP. One big difference is that we are not rushing through it like I did when I was watching it. I just wanted to catch up. This time I am taking it all in. And boy, it's a lot.

It better be positive or their will be picthforks and shit everywhere

but seriously though looking forward to seeing that write up since going through all that is a crazy endevour (i'm still at Impel Down in the anime after all this time)
