PS Vita US Launch Details (Launch Games, Accessory Pricing)

Will all the launch titles be available on PSN? Is there a list of sizes...? I'm leaning towards picking up the wi-fi, gameflying games and only buying select titles.

Though my HK PSN won't cut it anymore, I'll need a new profile, set of friends and trophies. Sucks you can't swich regions, but whatevs.

Vamphuntr -- there's a new Canadian website calling itself a "fraternity of gamers", all you have to do is figure out how to register and you get all these perks.

EVERY person from Canada who registers will be eligible to get a free $60 game next month.

I don't know how they do it!

The reason I know is because I run a popular gaming blog up here in Canada and the owners of this site keep on sending me news tips. It's ridiculous, lol. I got a bunch of my friends to join and we all got PS Vita's for $199!

This is my write-up on the free $60 game of your choice next month:

http://www.nextgenplayer.com/2012/01/leaked-memo-shows-free-video-game-for.html

The site to redeem the game on is called Tsilon.ca.

Tell your friends man, free game! Definitely not a scam, I just pre-ordered my $199 PS Vita yesterday. :D

That sounds really scamy

I thought so too. Was told about the site last month but didn't register because I thought it was scammy.

But anyway, I joined and it's legit. Here's some articles on the interweb discussing it:

Or I can look at your other post and realize I ain't trying this.
Sorry.

Do you have to register first because it's not working right now, lol.

And yeah I'm getting a scam vibe from this as well

Even if it isn't a scam, I imagine if too many people solve it, they would not be able to go through with it. Who knows though, if it's real, maybe they are working for a consulting criminal and everyone who signs up has their information sold for $60 a pop, exactly enough to buy each user a game!

This site is funny.

I created a unique password and the website doesn't even recognize the characters I used :lol. Safe on that front I guess.

Oh well. VGP already leaked my email address anyway so more spam in that inbox I guess.

It is legit though. I've been using it. You basically have to solve puzzles through their site. Answer a bunch of gaming trivia, go up in level, and complete challenges to get the offered perks. Challenges are as easy as getting achievements in games.

I just received a $50 credit for Cinema Now and to 10% off coupons for Future Shop. I fully expect to receive a free game next month if they say they are offering it. I'll probably put it towards the Vita version of The Show.

I'm MaxCole in the Tsilon.ca forums. These guys are feeding me insider information, so I'm apparently going to hear about the free game deal 48 hours in advance. I'll be posting all the information in the forums for G-Listers.

I'm already 2/4 let see what I will win or lose GAF. If it asks for personal info you can be sure I'll quit :P

I think they ask for:

City
Province
Country
System Preference

They do ask for your IDs on Steam/Xbox Live/PSN but you don't have to give up that information.

I haven't received any advertising through the IDs I give them.

Not sure. Might be because their previous big perk was $100 of a Vita preorder from Futureshop.

We should really just keep it in Canadian Deals though.

Yeah that was the original intention, but I agree with you. Keep in the Canadian Deals thread. Sorry about that.

Is there a page with the file sizes of the PSP games available to download on PSN? Gotta make sure that I get the right memory card if I decide to buy a Vita at launch.

Is there anywhere with indepth previews about ruin? Is it a dungeon crawler? Are there different classes in the game?

Well it's not even called Ruin anymore. They gave it some incredibly generic name like Warrior's Lair (I think), which would kinda imply that you only play as a warrior. But I doubt it.

I know this is the US launch thread but since we don't have an EU one I'll have to ask here.

I know the AT&T data prices have been announced (and then changed) but I don't remember seeing the ones for Vodafone in the UK. If they match the iPad plans then it'll be £7.50 for 500mb and £15 for 2gb as shown on here.

The reason I ask is that gamestop.co.uk have the WiFi Vita for £210 and the 3G for £245. We already know that if you get the 3G and a data pack from Vodafone you'll get Wipeout for free so I'm kind of tempted. I'm already set to pay £230 for the WiFi so If I can pay an extra £22.50 and get the 3G/GPS unit and get Wipeout it might be worth it.

I've sent a tweet to the EU PS blog to check something but this is an excerpt from the blog post announcing Voda as the preferred carrier.

The PS Vita 3G/Wi-Fi model sold in selected countries will come with a Vodafone SIM card so that users can immediately enjoy social gaming experiences on the go. Customers will also be able to buy PS Vita 3G/Wi-Fi model direct from Vodafone channels, both online and in store. In addition, customers connecting with Vodafone will receive a PlayStation Network voucher to download WipEout 2048 from PlayStation Store.

I'm hoping that means I don't have to buy the Vita from Vodafone to get Wipeout and instead as long as you get one of their data plans you can get it.

I believe it means that the Euro 3G package comes with the Vodafone card in package. All of them. If you plug the simcard in the Vita and activate it (totally optional) you will receive the game as a bonus. No one knows for sure right now if the Euro version will be simcard unlocked (probably yes). If so, you can put any simcard in your Vita, but you will not received the game.

So, yes, you can buy the package anywhere. As long as you sign to Vodafone, you will get the free game.

Thats what I read it as but I'll wait for confirmation from somewhere first I think.

In the UK, you're free to use any sim, any provider.

Indeed it is, from the EU PS Blog
It is possible to use another provider as PS Vita isn’t SIM locked. As we have partnered with Vodafone, we have fully tested PS Vita’s features on their service and therefore can assure a great 3G service right from the off. We haven’t tested with other providers’ services and therefore can’t give the same quality assurances.

Hey, changes of prices on Amazon:

Little Deviants is now US$ 39 (was US$ 29)
Ridge Racer is now US$ 29 (was US$ 39)
Touch my Katamari is now US$ 29 (was US$ 39)
Reality Fighters is now US$ 39 (was US$ 29)

Army Corps of Hell is now available at launch, for US$ 39.

So, some gamer are more expensive, others got cheaper. Little Deviants for US$ 39???? Now the bundle looks nicer...

Amazon better ship all this launch day crap in one box since they're fixing everything.

I was talking with an Amazon rep on chat, he assured me that all my pre-orders itens will ship in a single shipment.

Since I will be on a hotel, which charges high fees for receiving packages (first is free) I was/am a little worried about Amazon splitting the packages.

Not much I know, but at least a word.

You could probably just cancel your pre-orders and reorder them as a single order (if you don't already have it done that way).

I already had a single order. I made another order for an extra game. Amazon help page says you can combine orders not yet shipped at your account page. I couldn't find the option there so I started the chat. The Amazon rep combined the two orders for me, assuring me that all itens will ship in a single shippment.

Amazon is not reliable for such cases. Sometimes they split your order into several shipments for no reason at all, even if you have selected the option to ship in less packages as possible. Amazon do not charges more for that (when they decided to split packages) but in my case it would be bad cause of hotel fees.

Curious to see if FIFA is any good. Suprised they didn't go with a traditional title. Screams "need to rush to make launch day".

Thinking about picking up rayman and lumines on launch. I really want to get excited for wipeout but cant.

Same here. I think I will get FIFA at launch. I cannot get excited for Lumines, since I already played a lot from other versions. Rayman is a must for me, but after spending full price on the 360 version, I think I will wait for a price drop on Vita version (which I think will be very soon). I like racers and need a fix for launch, but future racers are not my thing, and something in Wipeout did not turn me on. No other racer available at launch is great, I may pick Ridge Racer if I can find it cheap.

Have you tried Wipeout 2048? I went to the Vita Hill Social Club in NY and it was actually really good. I was surprised. It definitely felt like a console-type experience.

I pre-ordered it from Amazon after I tried it at the club.

Nice to see Army Corp of Hell's release date fixed.
Now they just need to add a price and order option for Virtua Tennis 4.

Quick question. I remember playing Virtua Tennis for Dreamcast years ago, and absolutely loving it. The career mode was fantastic and there were plenty "mini-games."

Do you guys know if the franchise has stuck to that formula? If so, I'll have to pick it up.

This is from their FAQ.

Note: We're unable to combine or add items to the following types of orders:

Orders where items have already entered the shipping process
Orders to be sent via free Super Saver Shipping
Orders for gift cards
Orders paid for in total by gift cards
Replacement orders generated by our customer service department
Orders for cell phone products and services
Orders placed with an Amazon Marketplace seller
Gold Box orders
Orders containing items not yet released
Orders paid for with different currencies
Orders to which promotional funds have been applied

A number of those could apply, but the bolded definitely does.

I feel like the ATT exclusive 3G stuff in NA was stupid on Sony's part.
A judge would probably allow homebrew on the device to allow any data provider, which would cause problems for Sony... unless I'm mistaken on how the technology works...

I think they've only expanded upon that from what I know. I've only played small pieces of the VT series since the original on Dreamcast, but as a casual player I couldn't discern that there was a ton that had changed.

Hummm.... wondering if I should get it from Amazon. It is US$ 29. All other places have it for US$ 39, right?

That's good to hear. I'm definitely going to pick this up then.

Thanks.
