He has grandkids to look cute for the cameras when the need arises. During the campaign they'll be the ones on greetings card sent to supporters or participating in staged events. If he becomes President its not gonna be his grown as sons lighting the white house christmas tree.
 
I'd argue Newt's shot at the nomination is barely better than Paul's. The establishment won't let him win. I can't think of any candidate hit with so many negative pieces the day/night before debates. First ABC's bullshit with his wife, then the Fannie/Freddie stuff tonight being conveniently released.

Newt made a mistake by directly addressing Mitt's (true) attacks on him. He should have stuck with his first response. That Mitt is a perpetual liar and all his claims have been debunked on newt.org or whatever its called. I think he'll move back to that on Thursday.

I would hope one day, should I choose to run for some office that someone wouldn't call me serving a mission abroad for my church as running away from a draft or chance to serve. I know what you meant and agree with part of it, but I don't think this is the same as your typical draft dodger.

I posted it here too, that Newt looking "pretty good" in a debate wasn't good enough in the long run because his whole surge is predicated on him going nuclear on Obama in a debate.

I sent it in the first half of the debate though, when I thought Mitt had gotten Gingrich's goat early on. Mitt had a couple of unforced errors in the end, that fucking mortgage line again and basically folding on the "why are you a conservative" question. Overall probably a Newt win.

I still think the Newt surge is extremely fragile though.
 
I wouldn't trust Gallup anymore. Despite their venerable name they're the polling firm that had Republicans winning the generic congressional ballot in 2010 by 15 points, which didn't happen.

Polls often use landline telephones. Many young people don't have landlines anymore, so they may be under counted in general polls that aren't looking specifically at young people.

Naw Gingrich is only doing well because all the attention is on the Republicans at the moment since they are still picking a candidate.

Once the real election is on, Obama would handily crush Gingrich. Obama hasn't started a real campaign yet but the Republicans have been running ads for months so they are probably polling ahead of what they will once Obama ramps up.

I'm sure that's true, but I don't even want Newt to have a chance at the white house, regardless of how small that actual chance would be.
 
Went to an army surplus store tonight. The owner was selling Obama Bucks, the Iraqi wanted deck of cards, and a picture of Obama resting in a toilet bowl. Oh, and he was listening to Glen Beck. Lol.
