So glad. I've already got five games (not including Little Deviants and Super Star Dust) I'm getting at launch and three more games I'm picking up in March.

This may qualify for Best Launch Ever if everything goes smoothly.

you probably posted them before, but which 5?

So far, I'm looking at:
Uncharted (free with bundle at BB)
HSG (was 25$ at BB)
Wipeout (same)
Lumines
Virtua Tennis

i was just thinking. have they announced pinball arcade for the vita? i think it could work really well holding the vita vertically so the screen is taller than wide. that would be perfect for pinball.

I think I have finally decided to go all digital on the games. There are pros and cons to going digital versus buying physical copies (especially the price on the 32G memory card to do digital), but I think I really like the idea of having a bunch of games on one card and just carrying that around to play whatever I'd like. I preordered the First Edition bundle thinking I would just use the 4G card and buy physical copies, but now I think maybe I'll just have another card to maybe put the download only type games onto it.

I was considering that too, but recently noticed Sony had removed some games from my download history (Super Stardust, Everyday Shooter, Blast Factor), and now they say I have to re-purchase them if I want them again. Makes me worried about buying anything digital from them again.

What? Why! You certainly shouldn't have to. It's downright theft. Any circumstances to this decision?

that makes no sense

Has there been any noise about UMD passport for North America yet?

You are not getting it, period.

Enjoy paying MSRP for all your games without being able to resale them.

One thing I've always wondered about the Vita. How does its chip pump out this kind of power without needing a fan to cool it?

Man, how does iPhone/iPod/PSP chip pump out this kind of power? Hint: no magic here.

Call their help desk. There is no need to repurchase. You record is probably corrupted.

Or perhaps you shared those games with other folks ?

Buying digital doesn't mean paying for msrp. Vendors have sales sometimes.

It does in 90% of cases. Vendor sales are extremely infrequent, sale prices way worse you would get on eBay, etc. Also, nobody can say Sony will not decide to turn off some games 5-10-15 years down the line.

Want to pay more money for games? Be my guest, just stop pretending you are getting at least equal deal to physical goods, because you are not.

I called support and they claimed I never bought them, because they were no longer in my download history. I had them all on a fat PS3, it died, and I replaced it with a slim right around the time the PSN fiasco occurred. When it came back on I attempted to download all my old stuff to the new HD and a nice chunk of games were missing.

Check the email attached to your PSN account. Whenever you purchase something you get an electronic invoice.

I could do that if I didn't slash and burn that email account after the PSN debacle. Fortunately the only game I really missed was Super Stardust, and that was one of the free games they gave out, so I nabbed it. I have no real desire to play the other two again. It just served as a warning to me to back up all my stuff whenever possible. Especially full-price games.

why on earth would you do that?

Any other word on ESCAPE PLAN? I thought it was a launch title but it didnt seem to be listed as one last time I checked on amazon. This is one of the games I am looking forward to the most.

Do we know if:

1. American PS Vita games are going to be compatible with PAL PS Vita?
2. American PS Vita games are going to include more languages than just english?

Thank you.

If Sony or Microsoft or Nintendo turns off a game, it will affect both physical and digital games.

Yes thank you for your concern, but I have bought digital games at 70% discount, or get them for free. Vendors also have weekly or seasonal sale.

I like physical games and Blu-ray but digital goods can be attractive too. e.g. UMD games can only play on PSP. Some PSN games can be played on PSP, Vita and PS3. iOS games are digital but they are dirt cheap and play on all iOS devices.

Launch title. PSN only.

Thanks. Good thing I am going with the 16gb. It's mostly cause I am a huge lover of indi/PSN games. So I plan to down load, but I dont want to fork out the cash for the 32gb yet. I wonder if there is a way to transfer all that data from one card to another when I do decide to switch.

You can transfer all your content on your computer and then on another memory card iirc (never done it).

Can't find the EU launch thread but the Swedish GAME site have put up prices on the memory cards. Not as bad as I thought they would be, might get the 16gb actually.

Well, preordered mine. Like a freaking curse, it's Wipeout once again that pulls me in!
It took a bit of mind bending.... i'm now completely averse to the fact that i'm getting ripped off severely by AU retail price... completely accepting of the fact that a price drop is bound to happen within a year if not sooner... utterly prepared for total and outright bombage and no software support. All for the glory of Wipeout. I have the monies.. why not i say!

Done right, digital is awesome. I rebought most of my PSP games on PSN when they were on sale. It was cheap and easy and now they're linked to my account forever more. No carrying UMD's or carts, just sweet sweet data.

The price argument doesn't wash anymore. It may be true for MS, Sony & Nintendo (to a degree) but Steam and iOS have shown us that DD doesn't need to be more expensive.

It goes without saying that I'll be digital only on the Vita.

And you didn't think Steam sales are a result of massive competition in PC DD? While on consoles, Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo are the sole channel in delivering content? Until developers and publishers won't be able to bypass PSN/XBL in delivering DD to customers you are not going to see decreased prices.

Sweet. Now I just have to find some things to add to the ol' cart for free shipping.

That thing looks more than just a screen protector. I didn't realize it covered the entire face of the Vita. Do they make one for the back as well?

it will be out on the 22nd of feb so just preorder a game or something

Virtua Tennis

Uncharted (Got it for cheaper via trade)
HSG ($25 at BB)
Wipeout ($25 at BB)
MvsCU
BlazBlue:CS:EX
I have Modnation on preorder for $25 as well but I will return that once I receive it.
May also grab Super Stardust Delta.

I would have picked up Lumines but it's just too pricey right now. I'll wait for the Ubisoft price drop.

In March I'm grabbing:
MLB: The Show
Street Fighter X Tekken (does the PSV version come out in March?)
Doctor Who PSN game

Amen brother. Wipeout for me too. Preordered mine at Game for the free RR (ugh) but the $100 premium over the US price when the dollar is better than parity is nothing short of highway robbery.

Geez I'm so unsure on what to do about the screen protector issue....

I'm normally anti-screen protector since my OCD will devour me if there is a spec of dust/air bubble that wont go out/it is crooked on the screen, when it comes to screen protectors.

On the other hand, Vita is touch screen, therefore it will guarantee smudges on the screen and I will be cleaning it off more frequently than PSP. This means a higher chance of scratching since it is not the super-awesome-glass like on my phone.

Ugh...that Hori protector is getting more and more tempting every day lol

Why not just bite the bullet and go for the 3G version then? At least you get a free copy of Wipeout that way...

So, any word on if you could just walk in and buy the early edition or is there a cutoff to pre-ordering it in store or online?

Jump in. It's only $7 :)

If by PC DD you're including piracy web sites then yes, Steam sales are a result of that kind of competition.

Apologies if its been posted already, but Uncharted: Golden Abyss is now up for preorder for £24.99 at HMV

I know is the US thread but whats a guy to do.

Ended up getting a B2G1 coupon from Best Buy's Gamer Unlocked thing, so I think I'm going to pick up Lumines, Rayman, and Virtua Tennis at launch - works out to be about $27 a pop, so I won't feel too bad when the Ubi price drop hits. Will pick up Hot Shots too.

Did you check the store page? The same thing happened to Ys Chronicles because the ID on the store changed or something. So it wasn't available on the download list, but you could still download it again from the store page without paying for it.

This is why I'll probably stay away from DD on Vita for the most part, there's no evidence it will be any better than DD on PSP, which is awful.

I
don't
look forward to the day we have some $15 Vita games on PSN from good publishers alongside $40, 6 year old PSP games.
