The PlayStation Vita In 2011-2012

haha :p

I'm trying to convince my gf to get one when LBP comes out so that we can play something together. She's in Peru for a while so we don't get to play many games.

On that note, has Sony said anything yet about a latin america launch? I'd like to avoid buying one here and sending it to her because sending electronics to Peru is an expensive pain in the ass.

EDIT: Same release as US and Europe according to the PS Blog. Yay!

The system will be out in less than a month, what is Sony waiting for to communicate about the official launch line-up (set in stone) and prices for PSN games ?

I thought that blog post with the prices and the launch window titles was the official information?

Except there are plenty of games priced at $30 that are fully featured. MNR not having online is a complete joke.

I have to say I've flip flopped a bit on MNR, I like the sound of the online features they're giving us (although the reasons they've given for not supporting traditional online are poor). Definitely not a day one, but I'll pick it up at some point.

I wrote to Capcom, but I would kill for Zack and Wiki to be re-released on the Vita, I think with that screen and play style it would be killer. Here's to making that happen!

So can we get confirmation that we could move an AT&T sim card from a phone to the vita and back... Would totally change preorder to 3G version then.

What a stupid thing to say before international release. Sony should keep their employees in check.

He didn't say what's in lazybone's post though (the 'near future' bit).

'The original design of the PS Vita, for example, was very much thinner than the current retail product," he said. "From a designer's point of view, thinner is better-looking, but the engineers wanted to put all the features in.

"Maybe it will become thinner in the future, but the engineers would have to come up with a means to do that.

He's just stating the obvious IMO - as components miniaturise it will be possible to keep the same functionality in a thinner profile. I don't see any suggestion about anything being remotely imminent though.

I'd actually want them to thin down the innards and use the space for more red hot battery life.

Being free to max out the game card.
Strange, I wouldn't have imagined it'd work like that. The save/DLC stuff would need to be on read/write flash, which would be independent of the read only section, so I'd have thought the advantage would be making a cart without that flash at all to make it cheaper or something.

Anyway, not a big deal, I just hadn't kept up on that stuff it seems. Personally I'm in the UK, so Gravity Rush is PSN only anyway.

Uncharted is 49.99, other Vita games 29.99, WTF is are they doing? They are practically begging me to wait for all these games to hit bargain bins

If anything I think Sony are experimenting with pricing. Once Uncharted probably bombs at $50, that's when we'll probably start seeing most games at $30 or $40. It's like when the PSP was trying to put all their games at $40, failed for the most part, and then most started pricing games at $30.

Seriously. I won't touch Uncharted at that price. I'm sure it's a very polished game, but the series is stale and $49.99 is too much.

every handheld game (Vita or 3DS) should be $29.99 tops. Selling handheld games for $49.99 is just asking for bomba

Why does it matter? The DESIGNER wants it thinner... the engineers won't be able to do that unless they get smaller technology. He's just saying he'd like it smaller.

for shits/giggles - tried MoH Heroes 2 so i could have a feel of a twin stick enabled FPS on the system.

Yup - it's all good - just need a CoD or something with solid mulit/bot fighting etc.

Not sure if this has been posted elsewhere:

Uncharted : GA - £24.99 @ HMV

I can't it on their website, do they ship to Europe? Postage fee? Shipping time estimate?

Much better deal than 50€ on amazon.de. Almost everything on Vita is close to 50€, except for Katamari, Rayman, Army Corps, Asphalt Injection and Ridge Racer.

The launch game I really want (to try sticks and all) is Uncharted. I might actually not buy any games at launch and wait for HMV to ship UGA, if they ship to Germany. Can't support those prices.

Edit: Oh snap, Lego Harry Potter is only 37.99€, I'll be all over that!!!1!

I think this deal has already been cancelled (along with the orders of those that managed to get in quickly).

Welcome to Germany and German prices on software. First time I walked into Saturn I almost got a heart attack. So good I have a PC and can get cheap CD-keys from Polish auction sites.

yea when i tried it at the vita hill social club in atlanta all i wanted to do was try on fps on it sooo bad. the system just feels great in your hands and the sticks feel a lot better than i thought they would. cant wait for the first official fps on it :)

With the cost of a cart many games will need $39.99 price points to make money because a $29.99 price point won't be rewarded with the higher sales they'd need.

Handheld games aren't on discs that cost pennies.

Medal of Honor was released in Japan? Weird.

Where's Coded Arms?

We will have a competent 3rd person shooter in Unit 13 coming in a month or two.
