Also, why do people always use the same exact frame to show bad art in angel Beats?
Maybe that scene isnt the best but the show doesn't just happen there.
I really honestly don't get the hate for this series. It's nothing special at all, but I have been entertained by it and the music is amazing. I've had fun watching it.

Pedo Murata to teach at university

but more importantly:

what a deal

Noodol Café, a shop that combines "idols x instant ramen x Akihabara," opened in the heart of Tokyo's Electric Town on Monday. For 800 yen (about US$10) each, the café sells the same styrofoam cup of instant ramen that can be found in supermarkets for 1/4th the price.

However, the café adds a special service: a "real" idol working at the talent agency Platinum Production will pour boiling water into the cup. The customer can then talk with the idol — for all of three minutes that it takes for the ramen to simmer.

Like in many Japanese shops, customers can order their choice of meal and drink (both are 800 yen each) from a ticket vending machine at the front of the café. Unlike other shops, the machine allows customers to also choose which idol will serve their meals.

In a television interview, a customer pointed out that the Noodol Café is actually cheaper than getting instant ramen from a traditional Akihabara maid café for about 1,000 yen (US$13).

Eh whatever. Angel Beats is dumb fun.
I hnnnged at it, so its good.
We will just have to disagree (again) on this one.
But we aren't even talking about the same thing. We're talking about the composition of that shot as a representative sample, and you're talking about hnnggh content.

hnnnng things are hnnng.
Also the perspective in a lot of anime is worse than that.
Ive seen some hilarious shit, even in classics.
Its hardly just Angel Beats doing it wrong. I saw a few questionable scenes in Haibane Renmei, like when Reki has her hand on her chin looking out the window.

Even if you think the script is awful, on an animation level there are several layers of craftsmanship and artistry to Redline that are entirely absent from the hack job that is Angel Beats.

But firehawk is clearly blind, so we can let him slide for that comment.
Plus the Redline script is objectively not awful but anyone who disagrees with this is likely not going to budge on their feelings
and are nutso
so I'm not gonna argue it :(

Personally it's just a strange series to watch. Maybe I just didn't get it, but I had no idea what they were trying to do with the initial premise outside of the love story, and if the love story WAS supposed to be the point, then I really don't know what they were doing.

It doesn't help that
the main girl Tenshi
isn't actually a character.

I'm not going to begrudge you for your tastes, just that, as was obvious before, many of us watch anime looking for different things.

Honestly you could dig up a lot of scenes that are similarly bad. I don't think the show is really ugly overall, you could surely do worse, but its pretty easy to find shitty spots where PA Works decided to be lazy as fuck. As for the hate, at best its an average to below average show that a large portion of anime fans would have you believe is something amazing, so its not a surprise that detractors are gonna shit on it. Particularly when you have people praise the show for things its not even good at.

The people who say Angel Beats is amazing haven't seen a whole lot of anime, so to them it probably is.
Perosnally, I like the jittery imperfect look of more classic anime, so I can see where people are coming from. however I dont think it is so horrible that it deserves to be dragged through the mud like it is. There is some truly horrifically bad anime and art out there.

True, like in Birdy Decode S2.

Of the, finally completed 50 anime last season, I think it rivals Evangelion for me as amazing.

Manga is SAVED!

As a one off episode, this was great. Which makes me wonder how the hell Bakuman (the anime) could sustain itself for as long as it has considering the inane setup and the boring execution.

Melody of Oblivion 4
Ep was far better than the previous, weird pacing issues at the end aside. I also had no idea working conditions for monsters were so poor it was necessary to unionize.

Arjuna 5
Getting a little heavyhanded here with the message. Certainly not enough old guy on the mountain either.

Glass Fleet 4
Nice action packed episode. Buildup to the end was fun stuff.

Yami 2
So I go from an uncomfortably introspective episode about the downside of lesbian incest that made me ill with shaky cam abuse to an episode that's mostly about people getting the shit kicked out of them. Not bad.

That's the thing - I don't care about sakuga. I just want to watch a good movie and instead, I got a Michael Bay sequel to Speed Racer - as indicated by the part highlighted in red. :p

Of course, my hatred/disappointment the film probably stems from the unreasonable hype that people put on it. I mean, it was over a year of "I can't wait to see this" in animuGAF and there was no way the end product justified that level of yearning.

Might as well quit watching anime

Mahoraba used crayon style art in a pretty creative way.
Can you link to examples of this? I'm not remembering it.

I made Birdy S2 my recommendation in the underrated anime thread, but some of the animation was decidedly a mess of squiggles and polygons. Episode 7 comes to mind:

I think it was fixed for the dvds, I'll check mine later.

I think the problem with anime is that the ratio ISN'T 1:1.
If there was one good show for every bad show produced this would be a happy world.
Well, then again, all the stuff in the middle are the anime equivalent of "CSI" or whatever - shows you can leave on in the background and not pay attention to because they have no real depth whatsoever.

Due to the results of the 2011 anime of the year thread, I'm giving Fate Zero another shot and went through ep2 and ep3. New, well I guess chronologically old, Rider is truly a manly man.

Oh that part. I like deformed art style in shows, especially during action scenes. I always saw this as just being artistic and stylish and not "bad art".

You're a good man.

The extremely rough style makes sense in that episode because it's a
flashback
-- of course, there's roughness in many scenes of the show but not to that extent, and the "roughness" merely conveys a stylistic sense of motion.

I was actually okay with it, they tried to mask it with extreme fluidity at least. I've seen just as bad without any attempt to hide the QUALITY.
This is not "QUALITY" nor did they mask anything.

You guys are making me frustrated!
